Cool video! Love seeing reports on the "smaller" carriers like CMA, Pacific Coastal, Calm Air etc
Great video! I fly the Dornier at CMA and it’s great to see some rare love for the 328. It’s (IMHO) the most underrated turboprop. Glad you had a great experience! Take more shots of us landing and taking off now! Haha
what is the purpose of the sighting window above the AoA. does the cojo also have the same circular viewport as the capt?
I love the DO-328. I believe we were the first in North America to take delivery in the 90's. Worked at KDFW for years at Lone Star Airlines. Beautiful bird
SSaugaCriss That’s a document door. When I flew the Dornier at PSA, we just used that to hand the release, and weight and balance, to the ramp folks. It’s only on the Captain’s side.
@@182QKFTW Small world, my dad worked there when it was "Aspen Mountain Air" got to take a flight on a 328. Best thrust I've ever felt on takeoff in any airliner.
@@SSaugaCriss When I flew the 328 years ago we called it the document door. Ground personnel can pass paperwork to the captain through it. Only on the captain side. You have to remember to turn off the Air conditioning packs before closing it or you'd get a pressurization spike. I miss flying the 328.
I flew the Dornier 328jet a few years ago. The cabin really reminds me of the Saab 340 but those engines sure are powerful especially on the climb out. Great trip report.
westjet737 it’s not a jet
@@nomartbaez6726 the 328J is a jet. 110 were made
Such an awesome plane. So happy you were able to cross this off your list and include us on your journey. Thank you
I must say, for an aircraft that has been out of production for 19 years, that flight deck looks pretty modern. There used to be a regional carrier in the Denver area that ran the 328 back in the late 90s, they only lasted a few years.
Key Lime Air operates the 328JET for its charter and Denver air connection scheduled services, same plane just with turbofans
OMG THIS IS INCREDIBLE! I too am flying a Dornier this week haha but mine will be with the jet engines instead of turboprops. Great report :)
I got to fly on the 328 jet years ago. Nice aircraft
Nice! I flew on a Dornier 328 from CAL4/JHL to YEG to YYC. Pretty comfortable airplane and would love to on one again!
I once flew from YYC to Maui on a Westjet 767. There was a total of about 20 people on board. Best flight ever, stretched out over 3 seats, everyone with kids went up front, people who wanted to be away from kids went to the back. It was awesome.
Thanks for sharing the video. I use to fly for CMA and operate those routes so it brings back some good memories.
they made a jet version, too
Fantastic footage on-board the Central Mountain Air Flight 653 Dornier DO.328 from Calgary to Edmonton mate
Loved being able to spot Olds out the window. I used to live east of there so would have been great to see from the other side of the plane
This would be our private plane when we get one to travel the world.
Literally it is a BEAST & the room forget about it "remarkable" cost cheaper than a King Air 350 with more room.
Great Plane.
Use to see the 328 JET takeoff and land here in Philadelphia for Midwest Express. Miss seeing that particular plane and its ashame the 328 didn't catch on here in North America
Great video. With 4 pax only, it's good thing the airplane is relatively low cost maintenance. Thanks for sharing.
"Very roomie, being 6 foot 8."
Me spit out my tea. "Hol'd up!"
You're going to spit out a lot of tea.
This will be an Interesting Trip Report Video I'm watching right now!
Normal measurements please? 😄
Great video Alex! Huge like! I flew several times in a D328. It was always like flying in a private jet. Very comfortable. Really enjoyed your trip report. Cheers Matt
Nice video. Love the 328, such a comfortable, well-built aircraft.
Nice vid.
CMA was co-founded by the brother of my ex-crew chief Mr. Kelly Melissen, good to see they’re still around.
The Dornier is a pretty rare bird, I didn’t even know they flew in Canada.
Brings me back to my childhood days I've seen those daily including Q100s and 1900Ds and Jetstream 31s and 32s and sometimes ATR 42s and thousands of GA aircraft from the former CYXD which lies just 1 mile from my original house.
I have not flown the Dornier so it was quite interesting to see and the plane seemed to be kept in good shape, clean and bright and shiny....thanks!
I used to fly Central Mountain Air a lot cause for the longest time they were the only airline that serviced Lethbridge up until Air Georgian took over the route.
one of my best flights ever was aboard a 328 glad you got to enjoy it
Lovely airplane! Nothing but positives to say about my 328 experience.
Thanks Alex. I love the turboprops. My first was a PSA Electra evening flight around the SF Bay Area. Others were F27's Convair 580's and even a Metroliner. Enjoyed all.
Wonderful trip report as always! You don’t see a lot of these aircraft anymore.
What I like about watching your trip reports is that since you're so tall, if a seat is comfortable you, it'll be good for me at 6 feet.
Worked the ramp back in the day when PSA flew these out of CVG. Loud as hell , ear drum shattrering loud. One of the fastest turboprops in the sky, really love these. The 328 JET is even more fun, ASA used to fly those too out of CVG.
Great Video ..
It was nice to see back on board a Dornier 328 Prop ..
I have only flown 1 leg on a Dornier 328 Prop that was back in 2005 from London City - Isle Of Man when Euromanx did that route and they put 1 of the 2 Dornier 328 Prop on the service I flew on .
I went for seat 3A and I was lucky not needed to move .
I enjoyed the flight on it and quite glad I did get on 1 of the 2 of them as they did not last long with Euromanx .
Great video. Really like that you are tall like me so I get a real understanding of seat space. Thanks
Wonderful! This plane is big brother of Dornier 228.
Hi Alex: I found your excellent video, educational and appealing. I enjoy seeing new, to me, aircraft with this one showing a Dornier. I was also intrigued to see you flying such a short distance which sure beats the car or bus. Thanks for sharing this unique aircraft type with us. Cheers, Colin.
BA have still some flying from Düsseldorf to Friedrichshafen.
Cool video Alex! Love that you are grabbing these smaller regionals here in Western Canada. Was kind of sad to catch a glimpse of the grounded Air Canada Max 8's as you were taxiing out.
Really cool video. Thanks for sharing!! Always a treat seeing the small carriers!!
Hey folks....
It sounds quieter than the Dash or is it ???
I think so.
Much quieter
I think it has active sound cancelation.
Flew on company charters in Germany several times... There is also a jet engine version of the plane.
Too bad Dornier ceased to exist.
Nice arial shots of Olds and the Ponoka airport
Looking forward to the D328ECO !
Great trip report! I've always wanted to fly on the Dornier!
Love these trip report videos!!
VERY NICE! I've always loved those turbo props! Beautiful view!
I'm certain you're the tallest travel review creator on YT! Good stuff, thanks.
Awesome! Keep the videos coming Alex!
Nicely Done ! Thanks for your efforts., Alex. Great to get a good look at this aircraft.
I was a bit shocked recently, when i had to learn, that the service ceiling of the Do328-110 ist 5000 ft higher ( FL300) than of the Dash 8 Q400-. wow!
Great video Alex, seems like excellent service. The Dornier 328 always reminds me an incestuos relationship one night between a BAe146-100 (Avro RJ75) and Jetstream 31 but from the video is an impressive aircraft for lightly trafficked routes. Could happily spend 2-3 hrs in that cabin and I'm 6ft
Outstanding trip report - as always!
Haven't seen one of them in a while. Last time I flew on one was with US Airways Express where it was was branded as a Fairchild 328. Nice comfortable turboprop.
What a nifty little prop-jet! Thank for this upload.
Wow very nice video that's an aircraft that barely gets talked about A nice view of the departure gate maybe do another departure from that area or an arrival video love your videos Delores
Great video once again, Alex! I really want to fly on a Dornier, maybe when and if Taos Air comes back to Dallas Love Field during the winter.
GREAT PICTURES OF THE MOTOR
I've flown the DASH 8, Saab 340, and ATR's, and I feel the Dornier 328 is the smoothest and quietest out of all of the turboprops.
Love seeing the small regional Airlines and their not so common planes
I enjoy the flaps markings on the rear of the necell.
Great Vlog, just found you yesterday, very polite and informative! 🙌
Wonderful
My fave of this class of planes.always wondered why we don't see more of these here in Canada
superbe vidéo! merci. Le dornier 328 est un superbe avion très confortable pour les courts vols. Et que dire de la version jet. Magnifique avion.
Beautiful little plane.
Great video too 👌
I enjoyed the video. I worked for Dornier 86 to 95. Thx
Nice, I see fortmcmurray on the departure screen and that is where I live
Hi there Alex this is a very nice looking aircraft wish that more of them were in the skies today a good dash-8 replacement
Nice video. I flew a 328 jet years ago with the now defunct Midwest Express. It was a memorable experience. Which regional aircraft on which you have flown accomodates your height the best?
Yes, seat selection is a must for those killer 20 minute flights.
Window view looks similar to an ATR :) Very nice
I love the Dornier 328. She is very fast, quiet, has a sleek look n I truly enjoy those small commuter planes as boarding in n out is real quick. Don’t worry too much about small overhead bins. You can hand over yr carry on bag n let it be placed in the rear cargo compartment.
Great trip report bud, hope you’re doing well!
Hey, good to hear from you! Thanks!
Nice video. The dornier 328 cute plane.
Wow thanks to you I know cma exists
Alex,
Great videos.
Being in aviation for 50 years it is still fun to watch.
I think Calm Air in Manitoba operate the jet version of the Donier.
Might be a another subject for a future video.
Great video Alex.
Great video
Enjoyed this , being from Halifax and having worked at Dornier in Munich on the 728 project for a bit during my career in the aerospace industry. Good solid airplane the 328 !!
Saw it land the other day when I was dusk spotting
I think it is an awesome plane!
Four passengers and there was a weight balance issue ? Yikes....thanks for the video and the precise data.
What I went on one I was put by the emergency exit door. There were only 12 pax on board that evening. It was fun.
The cockpit is basically a Dash 8 with a few modifications
Thanks. Looks like a decent aircraft.
Great work!
I had several flights with CMA years ago in Northern BC. Highlight being DC-3
Nice video Alex only see the 328 jet in Toronto once in a while it takes off like a rocket you have to do a flight report on one of them
The Dornier 328 is at teh Moment my Favorit
Dornier 328 сконструирован и сделан в Германии. Хороший самолёт! Спасибо за видео обзор:).
Great flight report!!!
I'm with you on the lav. The smallest lav I feel comfortable would be the E175 lol.
I used to be the ramp agent for this exact flight last year at YEG! Haha 😂 Too Bad! Could’ve met you if you flew them last year! But yes, the YEG>YXS (Prince George) route was usually more busy, between 18 and 22 people I would say. The YEGYYC flights are mostly dominated by WestJet and Air Canada as I’m sure you know.
like the t-props miss them down here in the US
Man it looks like a squashed up Babay ATR 42. beautiful video
Interesting little aircraft
VERY impressed. There should be more of these flights, providing connections w/o larger aircraft ... having flown many miles in the USAF, over the Atlantic, Pacific along the Aleutian Islands ... why not a smaller craft? I've also flown 'private' planes.
I flew on a CMA Beech 1900D from YQU to YCG in the late 90's. I thought they'd gone out of operation ages ago.
Great video! Really excited to try this one out on Friday. Also, who's texting during the flight?
Love the 328
Interesting effect when coming in to land it looked the props stopped and then reversed.
Pretty cool !!
Back in 1996 from Yakima to Seattle I rode on the ñropeller configuration with Horizon Airlines
great video by the way!!
I've flown on the D228 but would love to fly the 328 as well but shame My Local Airport in the UK doesn't get these anymore, they stopped flying here back in 2004 :(
