  • Central Mountain Air, or CMA, is a Canadian regional airline that flies mostly within Alberta and British Columbia. They fly a fleet of Dash 8s, Beech 1900s, and Dornier 328s - the subject of today's trip report!
See what I thought of Central Mountain Air and their unique Dornier in this flight review from Calgary to Edmonton.

Great video! I fly the Dornier at CMA and it’s great to see some rare love for the 328. It’s (IMHO) the most underrated turboprop. Glad you had a great experience! Take more shots of us landing and taking off now! Haha

I love the DO-328. I believe we were the first in North America to take delivery in the 90's. Worked at KDFW for years at Lone Star Airlines. Beautiful bird

SSaugaCriss That’s a document door. When I flew the Dornier at PSA, we just used that to hand the release, and weight and balance, to the ramp folks. It’s only on the Captain’s side.

@@182QKFTW Small world, my dad worked there when it was "Aspen Mountain Air" got to take a flight on a 328. Best thrust I've ever felt on takeoff in any airliner.

@@SSaugaCriss When I flew the 328 years ago we called it the document door. Ground personnel can pass paperwork to the captain through it. Only on the captain side. You have to remember to turn off the Air conditioning packs before closing it or you'd get a pressurization spike. I miss flying the 328.

I flew the Dornier 328jet a few years ago. The cabin really reminds me of the Saab 340 but those engines sure are powerful especially on the climb out. Great trip report.

I must say, for an aircraft that has been out of production for 19 years, that flight deck looks pretty modern. There used to be a regional carrier in the Denver area that ran the 328 back in the late 90s, they only lasted a few years.

I once flew from YYC to Maui on a Westjet 767. There was a total of about 20 people on board. Best flight ever, stretched out over 3 seats, everyone with kids went up front, people who wanted to be away from kids went to the back. It was awesome.

    Great Video ..
It was nice to see back on board a Dornier 328 Prop ..
I have only flown 1 leg on a Dornier 328 Prop that was back in 2005 from London City - Isle Of Man when Euromanx did that route and they put 1 of the 2 Dornier 328 Prop on the service I flew on .
I went for seat 3A and I was lucky not needed to move .
I enjoyed the flight on it and quite glad I did get on 1 of the 2 of them as they did not last long with Euromanx .

Great video Alex, seems like excellent service. The Dornier 328 always reminds me an incestuos relationship one night between a BAe146-100 (Avro RJ75) and Jetstream 31 but from the video is an impressive aircraft for lightly trafficked routes. Could happily spend 2-3 hrs in that cabin and I'm 6ft
