Truly a “comedians comedian”.
I saw him live about ten years ago (was lucky enough to get a front row table all to myself) and he was so kind. He came up to me before the show and shook my hand. He was very kindly. I’ll miss him forever
You must have made quite an impression. I remember him saying that walking into a venue past the audience was the scariest part for him; he took Xanax for anxiety and panic attacks sometimes, even during SNL But he said that once he was on the stage, he was very calm, because he really didn't care if he bombed. He actually thought that people booing him for not being funny was funny.

Chevy probably is bitter that he means nothing in the history of tv comedy except some guy viewers liked(mostly because the media told them to) for the first year of SNL. Remember that show wasn't even on in many markets when it started.
Not TV comedy, no. But there was a stretch in the 80's where Chevy could pull them into the movies. I mean, Caddyshack. The first Vacation. Even Fletch was good. Then he just fell off the map.
It was on NBC and it's still is there where 3 channels back then and Chevy Chase was a huge star in the 80s. What are you talking about

@@bridgecross Yeah I always remember Chevy as the Vacation/Fletch/Caddyshack guy. Those movies were awesome and the Vacation series were always big at my house, we sort of cycled through them on VHS all the time and then I remember going with my mom to see Vegas Vacation when that came out in the theater. Then yeah he sort of fell off the map and showed up in weird places like Dirty Work or Hot Tub Time Machine.
