  • This relaxing 12 hour fan noise is for deep sleep, focus, and sound masking.
This is a plastic standing pedestal fan on the lowest speed setting, recorded in ms stereo with Sennheiser mkh microphones.
If you're someone who likes to sleep or study to fan noise, then I hope you this works for you.
I have recorded several varieties of domestic fan - plastic, metal, tower, pedestal, desk, and micro usb fans, and this recording is my favourite so far. It's all about getting the right balance between the resonant bass tone created by the fan blades, and the white noise -esque whirring created by the movement of air.
I'm in the process of recording a sound library of fan noise, so do get in touch if you're interested in that. I'll be uploading more fan sounds to youtube over the next year - I've found you can get a lot of variety by using different fan types, and microphone and editing techniques. Subscribe to my channel to get notified - loads of content to come...
The mesmerising black screen visualiser is created by London-based graphic designer George Cudby.
