Great video. A good reminder that our tiny plastic parts are actually huge hunks of metal. I really like your advice when the instructions seem a bit screwy.
Andy, you have rocketed to the top of my list of model channels. Great skills, interesting subjects and I LOVE the classical music you add as filler. Keep 'em coming!
Wow! I have a whole new perspective on those tracks and how big they actually were! That's awesome Andy. Us modelers can start lifting tracks pieces for workouts now, we can get up once and awhile from the bench😂😂
40 odd years ago when I was in the army I was in a sp artillery unit and drive an m577 command post carrier. It was only a 13 ton vehicle but I had to break apart the track for repairs on numerous occasions and though it was much smaller than a panther the tracks still weighed a small ton! Don't recall if I've ever seen you build a 577, but would love to watch that. I've been planning to build one and do the interior like my old track with a complete fire direction center. Thanks for all the great shows
Hi Andy, Well you certainly do like a lot of different subjects, for your effort so far I would give you 10/10, the build is looking great. Cheers, Les
Those tracks are in very good condition great to see a panther track if you want to know more about the different versions of panzer tracks Adam Mann's channel has a good video on them.
Another fine one.. This one and the Raumer Mine Roller were the two of the three I was looking for my next build. . I like the rare stuff. The V-2 looks much better than the old DML kit. (I built it many years ago) You've narrowed my selection down to the Riich 1/35 Skoda Radschlepper Ost. I built it years ago. Vacuform. lol Thanks for the vid. Well done. :)
great video. i am tempted to get this kit myself. well done with the channel. your videos are concise and easy to understand. which is probably why you are getting so many subs.
Andy, thanks for mentioning what lacquer clear coat you used! I called your shop a week or two ago to ask, and the guy who answered said that's what you used. Huge fan, got me back into the hobby!
Thanks for sharing your track links with us. That's the kind of thing you want to see but never got to. I did some research on the Hanamag and as far as I could determine , they were mostly used by civilian concerns and we're in common use before the war. I have never seen them used by the Heers but I'm sure they were far behind the lines for hauling the heaviest of loads to the Army distribution center for trips to the forward distribution points. They were also used at Penemunde to move V1's just like the kit shows. Also I believe that "L-shaped" area you filled in is a vane used to control the direction of the missile and we're moveable. Sorry I didn't see this sooner.
Very impressive andy !! I was very impressed by the way you painted the model! I loved it! And also I feel a lot of saver that you have a piece of history in your store! Take care of those chains! Greetings from guadalajara jalisco mexico !!! :D
I think the chequered pattern was applied more to test rockets than it was for those used offensively. It was any easy way to see if the rocket was rotating
I love Tamiya thin cement but sometimes I feel like it gives up too easily on smaller parts. I guess it balances out when you need to correct a mistake but i wish there was a stronger bond for a thin cement like that sometimes.
Great video Andy. Im building the King Tiger and Skoda Turtle at present. I sometimes wonder if any of the designers have ever built one of their own kits. Takom instructions leave me bewildered sometimes. They should take a look at a Bandai kits.
Very fine model , indeed! One objection .... During the development in Peenemünde the V2 was painted in the mentioned checkerboard fashion. This was because the technicians wanted to be able to observe from greater distances if the rocket "rolls" during the flight , which was not desired. So the V2 during development and testing in Peenemünde used this checkerboard pattern. But you are making a "field"-version of the V2. Not a test-rocket. So the field missile has camouflage , not the checkerboard painting.
excellent video Andy nice to see real ww2 relics, really mad to think Germany launched loads of them V2 rockets at my country. Looks like a fantastic kit and good work buddy.😃😃
very cool build, personally I've never used any of those TAKOM kits, as a former us army field artilleryman (M109A3) I understand the track differences. but I do know that most folks don't , lol!
I'm getting this model very soon. It looks like a great kit. Update They sent me the 1:72. Thankfully they will exchange for the 1:35. Phew.... Cheers Tom Dixon
Andy, Can I ask which paints or situations would you use a spray booth? I have one with my airbrush, but I only spray acrylics, so I'm not sure if it is strictly necessary. I actually have a gauze over the nozzle of the extract pipe because it doesn't reach the window, and this does get pretty stained by the excess paint that gets sucked through. Are acrylic fumes harmful at all, or is it just for preventing over spray in the room?
just by looking at your build. would it be easier to attach the leveling jacks to the upper plate first since they each have three points of contact? and looks like a fine model might pick this up some day
I served in bundeswehr as a panzergrenadier. It was not fun to "kettenkloppen" at the Marder but I always thougt: " my grandfather had much more struggle with their tracks so calm down :)"
I have heard elsewhere that Takom inadvertently modeled the SS100 kit on a museum example that had post-war tires, so the ones in the kit aren't accurate for this situation. Is this something you've noticed? I would also like to know if there is a tow hitch on both ends of the Meilerwagen. In the box art, the V-2 is pointed forward, when in a launch video I have seen they were actually towed from the other end of the 'wagen up to the portable launch pad so there needs to be a hitch on the rear in addition to the tow bar at the other end. Are such parts in the kit?
Andy as always great build!!!!!! Just wondering if you are ever going to finish the train diorama you started??? Keep up the videos I look forward to them!!!!
lol.......I highly doubt the germans ever launched a black and white test tracking paint scheme from a transporter ,,,they were almost always camo anywhere outside of penemunde
Great build and a great video. I like Takom products but I wish they would do something about the thick attach points on all of their products...it takes forever to clean them up.
amazing! thanks for sharing the build, great as usual. i see that with checkered paint, the v2 looks similar to the moon rocket if Tintin except it's black and white instead of red and white, and the legs. also the tracks are wonderful, where did you get them?
Playing Middle Linebacker in Gridiron hitting 3-400 pound lineman all day, I'd hate to be a tanker having to stuff around with the tracks all day. I use to think awesome you ride around in a shell, but how unreliable they were, it would've been torture
I used to fly high powered rockets & built a V2, was an awesome 🚀 I really enjoyed this build and the subject. Something different. Thanks Andy.
Great video. A good reminder that our tiny plastic parts are actually huge hunks of metal. I really like your advice when the instructions seem a bit screwy.
Looking good Andy, can't wait to see the finished product!!!
Very nice stuff there Andy - Looking forwards to part 2.
You probably are the best youtube channel regarding building model kits - every single video you make is very good. Thanks for sharing them.
Thank you I appreciate the kind words.
Tiene muy buena pinta esa referencia de takom. Gracias por mostrarnos tus técnicas
I just bought the Raumer and the V2..perfect timing for your videos

Thanks for sharing. Looks like a great kit. Can't wait for part 2
Great Job! The rocket itself looks like the old dragon kit.
Hi Andy,
Well you certainly do like a lot of different subjects, for your effort so far I would give you 10/10, the build is looking great.
Cheers,

Those pieces of track remind me of dinosaur bone fossils. Big dinosaurs!
Thank you for another great video...I hope all finds you well....

Is it bad that I recognized the Panther track immediately from watching your videos?
Interesting artifacts, glad you shared it with it.
Thank you for watching! and its not bad at all that you can identify them lol.
Andy the master kit builder!
Awsome tank tracks Andy . great build as always. this will be an impressive model

I hope to see more of these type,of vehicles. I can't wait to get a modern mobile launcher set

Want that big rocket
I served in bundeswehr as a panzergrenadier. It was not fun to "kettenkloppen" at the Marder but I always thougt: " my grandfather had much more struggle with their tracks so calm down :)"
nazis?
and i like the panzer trhee and panther track;)
building this kit right now. FYI, the rivet detail is way overdone on the V2. These were primarily spot welded.

Andy as always great build!!!!!! Just wondering if you are ever going to finish the train diorama you started??? Keep up the videos I look forward to them!!!!
Just 1 question, how many model kits did those track links cost you?
lol.......I highly doubt the germans ever launched a black and white test tracking paint scheme from a transporter ,,,they were almost always camo anywhere outside of penemunde
I also do things like that and it's so cool. So far I have built up one abrams a1m1 and one American sherman tank
Great build and a great video. I like Takom products but I wish they would do something about the thick attach points on all of their products...it takes forever to clean them up.
yes and lots of connection points,Thank you for watching!
Disagree. Takom has very little clean up compared to others.
Beautyfull Video
Looking good Andy :)
Thank you
What do you use to protect the acrylic Tamiya paints from the chemicals used in weathering?
Seems to be a nice kit, but what about a diorama with the V2 and your Hanebu flying saucer? It would be kind of a unique project.
its very cool good build !
Hi Andy geez you got this one quick nice job so far. I am going to pick one up for a sci-fi mod :)
GREAT JOB!
Really nice video and interesting model, i have a T-34 tracklink at home and i display a T-34 model on it :)
Wtf, Ive been playing world of tanks for 2 years and this is the first time I've ever seen an in depth look at tracks
What do you use as trees and bushes for your dioramas? Also does your online store ship worldwide? Thanks great vid by the way
good stuff
Thank you
thuis is a Nice kit Andy realy like it
Wow, where did you find those tracks? Great to see them in the video.
sweet, very cool
amazing! thanks for sharing the build, great as usual. i see that with checkered paint, the v2 looks similar to the moon rocket if Tintin except it's black and white instead of red and white, and the legs. also the tracks are wonderful, where did you get them?
Wow, that panther track link is _huge_. Where did you get them from Andy?
Hi Andy! Are you ever going to pick up on the railyard dio?
How would the back doors open? Flaw in modle?
Playing Middle Linebacker in Gridiron hitting 3-400 pound lineman all day, I'd hate to be a tanker having to stuff around with the tracks all day. I use to think awesome you ride around in a shell, but how unreliable they were, it would've been torture
Question: Why didn't you leave one side of the hood open to display the motor?
Hey Andy, could you in the future build more modern Russian armour ? Nice work btw
Andy please tell me how do you keep the white from shattering?
Hey there do you have any plans to bild the Takom Mark.IV Tadpole ?
eres un artista
Have you ever considered putting LED'S in any of your models?
Another great video. Is Takom a Russian company?
You have a online store right? Those tracks or huge.
I've been waiting for this.....
