Just found your channel and am now a subscriber. You handled all the challenges with a positive attitude and you and I have learnt a lot. Look forward to following along. Now I’m off to catch up on what I’ve missed so far! Good luck Gourlays!!
Thanks for tuning in and subscribing, you bloody legend! 👊🏽 Yes we learnt a lot on that week and have taken it on board for the next challenging leg!🤙🏽
Thanks for the great episode, very informative and well put together. I have to sadly say those stone stompers do nothing to stop all the rocks going under the van from the patrol and smashing up everything. Our used van had been on the Birdsville track and it is destroyed underneath. If only the previous owner had put mudflaps across the back of his tow vehicle and across the front of the van all the damage could have been avoided. I have now added these mud flaps to our van and don't expect any more issues. Wishing you all the best.
Hey Guys. Ryan here (self appointed #1 fan). You won me over with your false floor video that inspired me to build my own. I met you guys at Mt Little station and got a great sense of realism and honesty. This video is amazing and you should be commended on your ability to show the bad as well as the good. As a travelling family ourselves, I know first hand that big travels can actually be really stressful and in some cases very hard. Most travelling, RUclips / Insta families only want to show you the great sights and good times. They hide the hard times and even treat others that may struggle as a point of failure. Every travelling family has bad times as well as good. Well done and congratulations on a fantastic video that is giving an insight to “REAL” travels and adventures. You guys are awesome. We hope to see you again.
Hey legendary Ryan, yeah it ain’t always 🌈 and ☀️ especially when you’re doing school work with the kids 😂 and also when things break too! 😬 Living together 24/7 can be tough at times and when someone snores loudly, it’s tough except for the person snoring 💤 😝 Oodnadatta may have got us but it hasn’t defeated us! Off to the Gibb next 😬 (in real time)
Gota love corrigations! We have done 3 hydrolic brake lines over the years. Always carry spares now. The Painted Desert really is spectacular, worth all the corrigations! 🍻🍻👍
We haven’t even done one year yet! 😂 Yeah the Painted Desert was so beautiful despite a million flies! They weren’t 💩 flies though, they must have been sexy flies as they just swarmed us when we got out of the car! 😂
Carry different size copper pipe scraps. You can do lots with. Make cable lugs or cable joints and buzz bars. Solder all your connections and carry a gas torch.
Interesting trip. Can't remember seeing so many things go wrong on a trip in such a short time. Keep the faith, hopefully they are only teathing problems.
@@Itsme-zq3et initially we wanted to get the @safiery 48v system when we were building our me van but then the exact same one came up on the market which was 6 months old and 20k cheaper! Maybe next time!🤞🏽
Your mppt would likely take 50volts and covert to 12v just like it does from 22 to 12 now. So would just be change the way they’re connected on the roof good luck. Great memories for the future. Enjoy.
We lost a tank of water on the bitumen on the Stuart hwy, the one in a million stone punched a hole perfectly in the bottom of the outlet shutoff valve
Check out Going Overland water filter video. Next, get a short piece of hose with joiner and gate valve. No running back to tap to turn water off. Get another filler hose, cut 1/3 and then you got 2/3. Now you got different lengths. Easy to wind up.
Oh shit guys…. What a trip….. hope your luck changes now. Hey don’t get a trailamate jockey wheel they just don’t last, get a hold of a BOS jockey wheel and use your drill, more robust and easily repairable
The 3 wires into one is not the best that is a place I wouldn’t get anything wired from, each wire should be fused individually best way is to go is each wire fused and into a positive block and then one thick wire to the battery,
That wiring is not very professional, this is a prime reason that the caravan industry in Australia needs to be regulated with exact build standards. Peoples lives are at risk very day.
@@GrabLifeByTheGourlays No matter what people say, with our outback road conditions I would make sure that all main cables are secured. P-clamp them, have excess at the points of connection so as not to place the cable under strain. Fuse all cables with good quality fuse block "NOT A BLADE FUSE"
Thanks for tuning in, you are a superstar! 🤙🏽 Sometimes it’s all about being unlucky as we’ve come across people on the Gibb in a Landcruiser who has their rear suspension fall apart and their tailshaft came off or a D-Max chassis bend at the tub! It’s just the luck of the draw! 😬 We weren’t unscathed either with a flat tyre!
10,000 views in six days ! You guys are killing it. Well done. Top video
Thanks Tim, we’re pretty stoked! Who knew people like carnage! 😂

Hey legend, thanks for tuning in, we really appreciate it! Yeah we live and learn which we’ve done a lot of on this trip! 🤙🏽
Loved your video guys. No shortage of challenges were thrown at you but you overcame them. Love your style. Chevy Chase eat your heart out.
Thanks Rob you bloody legend! 👊🏽 Yeah, it was no road trip to WallyWorld but it was close! 😂
Thank you for sharing this amazing story and place with us! And yes - the joy on your lad’s face!!! Priceless!
Thank you for checking us out legend! 👊🏽Yeah you can’t put a price on that look but if you had to, it would be $3.19/litre for petrol ⛽️ 😂

Talk about doing it tough. You need some mud flaps on the caravan to protect all the suspension and water fittings. Best of luck.
Thanks mate! It’s not a bad idea actually🤙🏽

Great job guys - love your attitude.

Nice child whit the argentinian football team tshirt....great country whit great people!

Thanks for tuning in mate, really appreciate it! Yeah we learnt a lot on this trip. Now we wait for parts in Coober Pedy! 🤙🏽
Get those connectors crimped properly as soon as possible it's a ticking time bomb.
Get your solar in series ups the volts and drops amps. The same power but less heat.

We lost a tank of water on the bitumen on the Stuart hwy, the one in a million stone punched a hole perfectly in the bottom of the outlet shutoff valve
That is a one in a million shot! Recently someone wrote their van off when they hit a massive pothole on the Stuart Highway! 😬Those things are deadly!

Glad you guys stayed strong despite the challenges, i reckon if it was me i would have called it quits
Thanks Bernie! 👊🏽
It was a trying time thanks for sure! 👍🏼
Ohh wow hope all goes well....with everything 😮😮
Thanks legend, really appreciate it! It’s been tough on the gear and the pocket! 😂
Can’t believe you didn’t stop in at the Mound Springs. They are a geological and historical necessity. Go back 😜
Thanks for tuning in legend! 👊🏽 Might have to do that in the next round! 🤙🏽
Wow what a trip. We thought we had lots of troubles 🤠🤙
Yeah 💩 happens sometimes but coming out the other side unharmed is a good outcome and what doesn’t break us, bonds us! 🙌🏾
Just keep your chins up. Everyone has brake downs. It's the adventure. My setup same has going overland. Light, easy and size of camper.
Thanks legend! 👊🏽 It was a trying time to say the least. I guess there are worse places to be stuck though I’m sure there are better places too! 😂
Don't reckon I'll be ever putting in an order for a Marvel Thunder!
Wow!!!
We have been waiting for this episode, and it didn’t disappoint..
That was an epic adventure for you guys.
I was stressed just watching it 🤣

Ahhh, we’ve already got it as we had it sent ahead which has already come in handy in jacking the van up for a flat tyre
Would driving abit slower have made a difference ??
Good luck guys
Yeah driving a bit slower may have helped and maybe the rocks would be less likely to fling up! 😬

Wow😮 I've never heard a woman complain at her man so much.
Grate vid other than that
I would never install batteries inside of a caravan leave them outside
Easy to say now the laws have changed
Yeah the laws have changed but you can still install them inside, they just have to be installed a certain way. 🙌🏾
80km hr on corrigations is too fast towing, those highway tyres on the Patrol aren’t suited for that road either imo.
You’re probably right though the tyres held up well! 🤙🏽
You should have picked up the champagne cork bottle at the start of the movie. It jinxed your trip.
The kids picked it up! 😂
That is a poor instalation, no fuses
That wiring is not very professional, this is a prime reason that the caravan industry in Australia needs to be regulated with exact build standards. Peoples lives are at risk very day.
It can be scary for sure! Everything seems all ridgy didge now with no further issues! 🤞🏽 (Touch wood) 🪵

A lot of Caravans are of shocking build and overpriced
Never will buy one again
@@rl7586 also corrugations will shake the 💩 out of any build regardless of make and model! Sometimes even airbags can’t avoid bad luck! 🍀

Have done with some big ass crimps! 🙌🏾They’re massive and cost $15 each!😬
