I'm doing research ahead of field day and like the idea of the mini but want Bluetooth so I have some idea what's going on. My current smaller battery at least has a LCD display with voltage and capacity.
Love this with two exceptions. 1. The tracking 2. The ability to turn the battery off via the app, my natural distrust says what would stop the manufacturer turning your battery array off for any number of reasons. Just a thought. Love the channel & the awesome content!!
You can turn it off via app. But only if the battery is connected first. Don’t know why, but that is what happened to me. Once I hooked battery up, the toggle became active and allowed me to disconnect power. Strange they programmed it like that.
Nice video! I just received my 230amh battery yesterday. Once I figure out how I’m going to set it up. I’m going to use it to power my repeater. I haven’t seen any bad reviews of Li-Time as of yet.
If that is what you're after, look at Victron smart batteries. I'm running four of their 330ah batteries which is a combined 1320ah, but it load tests closer to 1400ah. Solid batteries for sure. They also make smaller ones.
I've read a lot of articles and videos that you don't want to charge to 100% for these type of batteries. You want up to 80% for longer life. And what percent do you want to go down to before recharging. Your thoughts
There seems to be various opinions on that very topic. I believe some people get these confused with lithium ION phosphate, which is recommended to not regularly charge over 80 or discharge under 20. But lithium IRON phosphate (these) can safely do 100 to 0. I've watched MANY videos watching both camps. 🤷 Good luck
Reading through the comments, it seems that some people think the tracking in the app tracks your location. I believe that the App Privacy screen shows that they are "tracking" only your contact info. There's no reason they need to do that, but it might help ease the concerns of some people to notice that it says nothing about tracking your location. On the other hand, I've read that the app logs you out after a period of time and you cannot log back in without an internet connection. THAT, to me, is a deal breaker. No app that is intended to be used in mobile situations (RV, boat, etc.) should require a data connection, as there are many areas with no data available.
Litime are supposed to be really good batteries. Will Prowse has a youtube channel where he tears down batteries, and Litime are some of his favorite. He tests the BMS to make sure it has cold temp charge protection, and Litime is one of the few that it works...
Just bought the new smart 12v 100amp group 24. Took it out of the box. Using the directions, I'm trying to pair battery to ap on my phone. I scan the QR code and I get a message that says the QR code I'm scanning is not a li time product. Help!
the tracking of contact info is strange. because you have to give it an email address to register and use the app, it has your email address. of course you can always use a fake email or a hide-my-email type service to do so. but i don't understand why you need an account to have an app that connects via bluetooth to their battery, except so they can sell your email to other companies
I wouldn’t be surprised if Chinese companies aren’t required, or at least “ coerced” into collecting any and all data they can from their users. However insignificant or abstract the collected data may seem. But that’s just speculation.
Mike what kind of clamp on meter are you using? To measure the amps can you clamp it over both the positive and negative wire or does it have to be just one or the other. Link on meter would be appreciated. Thanks! Robert KD4YDC
Just a cheap meter I got from Amazon but it seems to work well enough. amzn.to/3IGEmgd You only want it on one of the wires though, otherwise they would just cancel out and it would read zero.
One thing I noticed on mine. You cannot turn off the discharge switch in the app unless you have it connected first. It would be nice to be able to toggle it on or off without a connection in my opinion. Maybe an update could address this issue.
Do you know if my RV currently has 2 lead acid house batteries if I can just switch them out for the Lithium phosphate or does the inverter and/or other components have to be replaced to support lithium?
Assuming your inverter is a stand alone unit and not built into your charge controller, it would be fine. If it's a whole single unit in one, you'd want to make sure that it's compatible with LiFePO4 which some are. Otherwise you'd have to replace it.
Everyone is worried about the app tracking. I would be more worried about my phone and the other apps that are on the phone that run in the background.
Hey question I just bought this battery and I keep scanning the pictures but its not working? Im thinking I have to charge it fully first to connect to it? Also is blinking green mean charging?
I have 2 of these. And i cant seem to get full charge. 87 and 88 amps is all they will charge to. I am currently discharging them again and will do a full charge again and see if it comes up.
Hmm...good question. I would doubt it unless there's an app you can download on Windows, which I'm not aware of, but I also don't use windows. Pretty sure it's just a phone app.
@@hamradiotube I contacted Werchtay and they said it won't work with a laptop...have to have a cell phone which I don't have. There is no one to call or to call me anymore so I'm out of luck. I'll have to use a shunt or hall effect monitor.
Same issue. Emailed to them, no respond. Common apps for Bluetooth BMS failed to see or understand this battery. I feel I should forget "smartness", treat as lost extra money for this misfeature and use the battery as is.
What a disappointment. I cannot register an account to allow use of the bluetooth app. (Android) I clicked on Register. It then gives me a place to enter my email address, a place to enter my password twice, and a button for "Get code" Well I click on "Get code" and it starts timing down. I check my email. Most of the time I do not get the email before the timeout occurs. I have tried 10+ times. I did get the code twice during the time (10 seconds left) but there is NOWHERE TO PUT the code??? SO if I paid for Bluetooth and I do not get it, I want to return the battery for a cheaper one. Why do they even need this in the first place?????????? Will they sell my user information to other companies?
I wouldn't mind tracking if you could turn it on and off the advantage of tracking would be you could track where your battery was if it got stolen or you could track your RV if it got stolen through your battery...
Thanks for the tracking heads up. I had ordered one yesterday. I downloaded the app and discovered the account requirement. Then I found this video. I cancelled the order. I have no interest in being tracked by a battery company. Thanks!
This battery offers Lots of good futures however In my opinion, the most important info that would change my mind for a Bluetooth able battery would be the ability to check individual cell and be aloud to exchange them. Looks like this battery isn't offered any of those. Anyway, we have to admit, is getting there. Thx a lot for the very nice video.
I hear what you're saying, but that's not really how batteries work. For one, being a battery manufacture and allowing your customers to swap out cells would be a liability nightmare. One screwup and you could hurt yourself very seriously if not kill yourself. LiFePO4 cells are no joke. They can put out an incredible amount of current. Secondly, you would have to dismantle so much stuff just to be able to replace a cell it's not very practical. Then you'd have to put it all back together neatly. And third, replacing one cell in a battery isn't really the best thing to do. Generally when making a battery (I have made several myself) you want to use cells that are from the same manufacturer and close to the same manufacture date. The same lot would be ideal. Putting a new cell in with old cells will throw off the balance and alter its functionality as the new cell would be working a lot harder than the other cells, causing it to degrade prematurely. However, you could build a battery yourself by purchasing the cells, bus bars, BMS, etc. You can make it as big or small as you like, and there are BMS's that have bluetooth built in. I don't think you'd be able to do it as cheap as just buying a battery already made though. The prices have come down so much in the last couple years it would probably be cheaper to just buy a new battery if yours were to fail.
Thanks! I just got my 100A BT-enabled battery today and was getting pretty frustrated - maybe i"m dense but the manual does NOT do a good job of telling you there are TWO QR codes on top of the battery and which one to scan to connect via Bluetooth! After watching your video it connected right off. My RV charger is designed for lead-acid batteries so I want to see how it goes and will upgrade the charger if necessary (something there are various opinions about). Having Bluetoot monitoring is a game changer in my view! 73 Bob W9RAN
Super helpful video! Thank you. Anybody know if I could do a straight swap with two of these in parallel on my travel trailer to replace one 12v deep cycle? And do they need to be vented if I put them inside?

Depends on the size of your trolling motor. A 55lb thrust trolling motor only pulls about 52 amps. No where near the 185-195 amps he was pulling on his test.
That a great battery ! this should run your cooler for a long time, this will be a great battery for filed day. love the Bluetooth app. hate the tracking. 73's

Thanks Mike. I've been looking at those. You answered a bunch of my questions.

How does the app work when you run two of these Bluetooth batteries in seris to make 24v ? Thanks and great video !
Connect both batteries to the app. It should monitor both

What is the difference in the app between Power Off and Discharge Off?
Can you charge the battery when Discharge Off is selected?
Awesome to see one deliver on all the promises! If they fix the app, I'd consider one of these.

Can you limit the charge current in the app?
Thanks, just ordered to of these for my Van, also based on your review!
I can't connect mine :(
Good walk through of the app.
Any updates with the tracking? Can’t you just tell your phone not to allow the app to track?

Any difference in the 12v 100ah 31 TM vs this battery vs this other than 300-500 for 3 seconds vs 1 second?
So does this Bluetooth bms take the place of a external shunt?

What size wire were you using on the battery?
just ordered 4 of these for my bass boat keeping an interstate for cranking and 1 of these for all my graphs and 3 for my trolling motor
very informative testing and proving thanks man
and now you click the boat icon you will get boating ads lol

Does the app show the voltage of the different cells??
no it does not , only cells ok
I have a couple of LiTime 100AH batteries (not the newer ones with bluetooth), and they are very nice quality batteries!
Every review of this type of battery should include a tear down...without it it is nothing more than a plastic mystery box.
how did you power the battery back on? i saw you reach behind the battery .. is there a button??
how do you monitor batterly level and everything else without the bluetooth version?
i just boght two Li Time batteris and dont get it.
No one mentions that theres no UL or CSA, only a CE rating. Is this a concern?
Good review and test video! Thanks for going over what a buyer would look for.
I just got 3 of those.. put them on the charger last night. Only 1 reach 100%. the other 2 only reached 99%. Should i be concerned?
