Thanks Mike - Like you, I am also an over the top battery/ power geek LOL. Like you, I have also built way more big geek and little geek batteries in ammo boxes than what I could ever possibly use LOL. I just love building them and adding different accessory outlets and meters to them. For my Bioenno batteries I didn't want to take a chance and bought Bioenno specific chargers while I was at Orlando Hamcation when I was in the USA on one of my USA vacation trips (I saw you there) 73, 5Z4J
I was looking for a charger and came across this video. I made a purchase from Bionnno. I had to contact Bioenno sales support about my order after I received it. I must say, they actually have excellent customer service. They replied very quickly to the emails, and provided excellent communication, and came up with a solution that far exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend this California company. Don't forget there is a 10% code in the description.😀
Thank you so much for doing this video. I was wondering if I could use my Bioenno charger with my new Cyclenbatt, and this answers that question. Just need to get a barrel connector adapter. Thanks!!
Hi Mike. If you use power poles to charge the lower amp hour batteries (10-30ahr) do they bypass the BMS in the battery? Thank you. I appreciate your videos
Noco chargers are great for LiFePo4, AGM, or lead acid. One charger to rule them all, and they have lots of different sizes. I use a 5A Noco for everything I need to charge.
Oh my! Do today's young hams know what a Maglite is? Now you sound old! 🤣I use Victron Orion DC-DC chargers in my car. The Orion Tr 12|12-30A charger is RF quiet, but my new XS 12|12-50A is not. The hash is only on certain bands. The good news, if I'm running from POTA site to POTA site, is that I can get a lot done with 50A during transit! 73! -Scott
I have the Bioenno charger. It works well, but the light has never turned green. I spoke to two different people at Bioenno and they told me because of the built in battery management system it will never let it overcharge, but it stops the light from turning green. I usually charge my batteries for about 4 hours and it gets to 14.38 and then I unplug them. I wish the green light would for feedback purposes, but it does not seem to and I guess I have to believe what Bioenno says, right?
Charger #3 and #4 seem like they are just CC type chargers. Have you measured the current towards the end of the cycle to see if they monitor "tail current" as a flag to end the charge cycle?
I have a schumaker sp1297 charger. On the box, it says that it will charge lead acid, lithium ion, and lithium iron phosphate batteries. The charger, however, only has two settings: lead acid and lithium ion. Would I use the lithium ion setting for the lithium ion phosphate battery? Otherwise there are no other settings to choose from. Please help, I can’t find the answer to this question anywhere.
Didn't that 40 amp charger have a max input current notation on the label of 9 amps? At that much current in (@120v) it would only be around 55% efficient. Does it really draw that much in use, please? A T Burke
I wish you would have shown that the advertised charging amps are actually produced by the charger. Many cheaper chargers do not produce what they are labeled to produce during bulk phase of charge. If your charger is labeled to produce XX amps then you should get XX amps if not your getting cheated.
With all batteries heat is not your friend. The cooler you can keep q battery during charging the better for the battery. I am not saying ice cold but if you can keep it room temp by charging it slower its better for the battery. Thanks for the helpful video!
I agree with this. I check my batteries and charger temps during charging with an IR thermometer, just in case. Just once or twice, depending on how long they need to charge. I also use only Bioenno chargers specific for the battery. As I type this I am running my 50-watt VHF/UHF off my 30Ah Bioenno while I monitor the various emcomm repeaters here in Florida to keep track of Hurricane Helene. I could use a switching power supply, but thought I'd radio on battery today.
Good video, useful info. However, the large Bioenno charger did not seem to have a certification mark like UL, CSA, ETL, TUV. The certification by an NRTL (Nationally Recognized Test Laboratory) is required by US law for electrical products sold in the US (OSHA). The laboratories put the products through torture tests to insure there is no risk of failure. The laboratories send an inspector to the manufacturing site four times a year to insure the manufactured product still meets the requirements of the original product. The CE mark is for Europe and is not a certification but a self declaration that the product meets safety standards.
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I was losing my flipping mind the first time I was looking for chargers. Especially with the 100Ah batteries, I don’t think my $50 charger can charge that properly. - KF0QNM ❤

Victron Energy LifePO4 chargers are among (if not best) best chargers made....PERIOD
I use the Noco 10amp for my r/v, it seems to work well.

Love the HiTec. I have a profile set up for all my different chemistries.
Thanks Mike. This is a question I always have.

I use my shack power supply to charge my batteries. How badly am I screwing them up?
2:00, Nominal voltage is the depleted voltage? Thanks man.
So to sum up the input in this video: 1.get an LFP charger, 2.connect the charger, 3.charge the battery until led turns green. Very helpful video😂
print your call sign on neon sign .. many colors available blue ,green, violet, red & orange . to hang on wall OR to be placed on a desk .
you gained a couple brownie points for using a mag light.
not a tactafool light.

Great video, very helpful for choosing the right charger👋👋👋

Bioenno selected. Got a 10A off amazon because I've got flea market power.
I learned so much from this video!
Yup, I use thames BiEnno chargers.
Good video Mike!!

Mike have you tried the Bioenno chargers while operating? Wonder how quiet they are? Robert KD4YDC
Powerpole the world!!!
I need one that will charge a 230-ah lithium battery
And to think I was looking for a lifepo4 charger for a 100ah battery.
I know.

Does anyone make a RF quiet charge in the 20A range?
Thanks for your help
I wish it wasn't so damn hard to get lifepo4 in Hawai'i
Thank you.

Can I charge my 100Ah LiFePO4 using a Power Supply that produces a consistent 13.8v and 11.5 amps and a Solar Charge Controller? TIA
Not if you can't " up" the voltage...AND want 100% charge
@@bigdaadio.K2WW What would be your suggested minimum's? I have a lot of power supplies to choose from. Thx
Nice Job! 🎙
So can I wire 6 10 AH batteries in parallel and be just fine with useing one of these chargers
I think they need to be balanced
using vs useing
HRT, AKA Dr. Science!
My mag light is a LiFePO4 battery?? SWEET! 😃
LiHV is lithium high voltage. In the R/C car racing industry, they over charge their batteries for more punch. 🤷♂️

The 300Ah is BIG HOSS!
None of the Victron 12V chargers made the top 5? Wow! Think you really swung and missed on trhis one.
The thumbnail is very AVE I thought it was his video. Lol
But how do you charge Satan?
THANK YOU FOR THIS!

My $50 NOCO charges mine just fine.
