    I rode one yesterday for the first time. The acceleration is phenomenal in sport mode. The handling was great on the street. They could replace commuter motorcycles if the price were competitive.

    I have an electric car (an e-Golf) which I love. Once you understand and accept the differences and limitations of e-vehicles they really are great. For starters they are pretty much maintenance free and have great performance. E-vehicles are also a very different driving/riding experience...
    I love my 750GS because I like hearing the engine and shifting through the gears - an experience I don’t get with my e-Golf. The e-Golf is perfect for daily driving to work/school or wherever. My GS is perfect for when I want to go somewhere to clear my mind...

    Perhaps they would put LED turn signals on the bike if they were able to. Some states have laws on the books that restrict the use of LED lights to not allow them to flash...This is a result of the custom scene when riders would extra lights all over their bikes.

    I haven't ridden one, but the electric motor must be very deceiving feeling much stronger than it is. The programming has to be leaning toward increasing range because based on 0-60 times which are in the high 3's and the quarter being in the high 11's, with the claimed 145 ft lbs it should be a lot quicker. Your Streetfighter would smoke it. My SF 848 would take it. This would be an interesting bike for $12K, not for what Zero is asking.

    Bill, the horse power would be more impressive if you weren’t always riding that Streetfighter ! The 200 miles range is very good but a long term test would be interesting to see what the “Bill range” is !!🤪. Your neighbours would love this bike but I’m the same as you because I like engine noise and shifting gears. And not cheap! In the UK the green lobby either want the taxpayer to subsidise electric vehicles or tax the life out of internal combustion engines, that’s their solution. But otherwise a very nice bike and review 🏍🇬🇧

    • @discotechwreck
      @discotechwreck 3 года назад

      Tax payers have been subsidising oil for decades. From government investment into private oil companies, surveying, drilling, transport, infrastructure etc. for decades. Admittedly, the total lifetime cost is not there with electric motocycles yet, but even modest EVs are already more economical in the long term.

    • @stewy62
      @stewy62 3 года назад

      @@discotechwreck I guess most Western countries give tax breaks to companies who invest in R&D and equipment. But they don’t normally directly provide subsidies to the consumer to purchase the product, which here in the UK is up to £2,500 for an electric car, or £1,500 off the £28,995 for a Harley Davidson Live Wire. Two thirds of the £5.65 per gallon is tax, by contrast the tax on domestic electricity is 5 %. Electric vehicles pay zero annual road tax, last year my bike cost £93 and my car £155. Buy a car over £40,000 and you pay £500 road tax per year for the first five years except if the car is electric. When EV’s do take off, the UK Government will need to find other ways of raising revenue.

    • @discotechwreck
      @discotechwreck 3 года назад

      @@stewy62 In regards to the latter, almost certainly. It would be ignorant however to pretend that governments worlwide haven't been directly subsidising oil exploration and subsequently shareholder profits for decades. Even after infrastructure is shut down or dismantled, tax payers continue to line these companies pockets for doing so all whilst they have destroyed & polluted our environments. Kawasaki just announced the other day, that they won't be selling any internal combustion engine bikes into developed markets from 2035. So Kawasaki doesn't agree with your conclusions here. As we transition to a full EV future, do you truly think petrol stations are going to be kept open just to allow a minority such as motorcyclists can continue to fuel up their petrol bikes? Of course not.

    Seems to me electric motorcycles are way overpriced. The zeros have less than 1/3rd the battery size of a tesla model 3 but cost more than half the price of a tesla model 3. Not to mention how much less materials go into making a motorcycle compared to a car, doesn't make sense.

  • @ronedee
    @ronedee 2 года назад +1

    Electric just isn't inspiring. It's sterile and unresponsive in a feedback manner. I could see a lightened, bagged-out, sculpted commuter model? But, it would need to be at least half the cost of this "bot".
