I have the utmost respect for Craig Jones. He doesn't have a "team" like the death squad and he still is top notch. I know he has guys around him but not like Gordan (ie, Danaher, Renzo, Tonnon, etc). Plus he super humble.
James Roush it def appeared that Jones let up a little and gave this sort of look that said ‘Gordon are you for real? You’re gonna make me snap your arm in half? ‘ If it were most other grapplers, Ryan would have been sent to the brink........ and beyond!
Not true there is a point of no return where Craig lost the submission and that’s why his face looked like that. Gordon should have tapped? Lmao, Gordon should have lost evidence on purpose what kind of idiot are u?
I agree!! 100%!!..it was an act of professional courtesy, not to ruin his career... I suppose??.. Gordan ski should have realized this and capitulated to the SUB. and thanked him for sparing a 6month rehabilitation on the arm...🔥👀💥
Awesome armbar detail but let's be real here. The other secret of Gordon was that he refused to tap. Dude is ready to loose all his 4 limbs to guarantee he will always be the best.
Very good comparison of the differences. Definitely plan on paying more attention to what I do naturally. I like to video rolling at the gym as well to analyze myself just like I would an opponent. Good luck at NoGi World's this weekend 👍
it's the angle towards dude's head that invites the head leg into that position. in the first sequence, dude didn't that angle towards Gordon's head so instead only the leg over the body could readjust, not the leg over the head. so i guess basically the head leg is the better one, if position allows, to readjust around the arm
It's as simple as just walking your legs out. You're using your feet to run in a circle over that opposite shoulder. It's something you can just do next time you're I that position, no instruction is really needed.
Great breakdown of the armbars! At first I thought Jones had decided not to break Ryan's arm, but in this video you make a compelling point that Ryan was able to escape. Question, though: Around 5:30 If a fighter does that triangle move that Ryan did, instead of trying to rotate in the direction that has now been shut off, what if the fighter swung his legs across the mat to try to rotate slightly the other way? Or maybe something else, but seems to me there is one chance to try a different escape if the fighter is doing what Ryan did - stopping the hitchhiker escape direction.
yeah your on the right track John Danaher breaks down armbar variations and the type of escape that's optimal for preventing. He has videos of it somewhere on youtube. Also some of his students teach that way. Basically, variations of the armbar lead to variations of escapes.
Didn't gordon get his arm broken on this armbar? There's a video of gordon talking about his injuries, he mentioned something about Craig breaking his arm
Bit late to ask, I know, but what do you make of the idea that Ryan did tap the mat with the back of his hand during the arm bar? You can see it immediately after the camera angle change just before he escapes. Panicked flailing perhaps?
Great break down, man every time l watch this match for some reason I think CJ could have finished that but it felt like he didnt want to break he's teammate's arm, Im probably wrong but thats what it looks to me ?
others try this kind of breakdown (start/stop video with drawing and commentary) and nobody is even close to being so effective in relaying info as Keenan
NicoGF Krons armlock was actually a perfect example of this video. His legs were oriented in a triangle behind Tonons head in that fight similar to Craig Jones against Gordon.
As a old, feeble and novice bjj’r, my question is . . . why wouldn’t I position my legs in the “figure 4” position immediately upon securing the arm - as opposed to leaving my legs over the opponents’ chest and neck? Thanx Keenanmeister!
K DB depends on which way he squirms. and different leg moves as shown for which way he turns. but if your can catch it tight before having to readjust, squeezed knees straight across is tightest
Gordanski should have capitulated the match after that and said you got me but i didn't tapp!!!..Good win Graigery and THANKS for the use of my arm in the future!!!..
His name is unknown Crazy to realise in Jiu Jitsu world, not many people are as famous and popular as people like Keenan, Gordon Ryan although many of their opponents must be quite high level too.
Good breakdown but another factor in the success of the armbar is craig was trying to armbar gordon ryan. The technique itself may not be inferior, he was just trying it on a more skilled opponent.
Great breakdown of the match.
CHEWY! fancy seeing you here!
Clay Coppinger haha. I'm on Reddit all the time. And this popped up. I enjoyed the breakdown. :)
CHEWYY
Not gonna lie, saw your comment and figured it worthy of my view.
You forgot the signature rrrrraaaaawww !! Lol
Gordanski Reynolds and Craigary Jones hahahaha
Man, I love Keenans details. I’d love to see more breakdowns like this.
I just watched this and thought to myself, "I wonder if my coach saw this!?".... Now, I know! BMAC is everywhere!
'Gordanski Reynolds' lmao
GB Dawson hot commodities

Lone wolves' idol
He was really the only threat to Gordon so that’s why Danaher brought in to DDS, I don’t blame him.
This didn't age well. B Team. 🤣
Amazing analysis. I especially like you mentioning the direction the thumb is pointing.
I honestly think Craig just didn’t want to break Gordon’s arm. Gordon should have tapped....Craig had a heart imo
Uh....he broke the fuck out of Gordon’s arm. They both confirmed it and Craig has actually made a post about it
Jesus. There's a reason Gordon Ryan is the king, it's because he isn't a bitch.
James Roush it def appeared that Jones let up a little and gave this sort of look that said ‘Gordon are you for real? You’re gonna make me snap your arm in half? ‘

The other guy’s name is Patrick Donabedian, he is a black belt that trains at 10th planet HQ, really nice guy!
Patrick donabedianiniski
"Gordansky Reynolds and craigery Jonas", it killed me😂
Dope breakdown brotha!
BJJ World you the best
Will you ever compete in EBI?
I hope he does, would be amazing to get more world class names in the mix!
Kyle G Yes.
Awesome armbar detail but let's be real here. The other secret of Gordon was that he refused to tap.
Dude is ready to loose all his 4 limbs to guarantee he will always be the best.
great vid Keenan yes i've never hear that only heard it called hitchhiker escape since 06,
love these breakdowns!
Very good comparison of the differences. Definitely plan on paying more attention to what I do naturally. I like to video rolling at the gym as well to analyze myself just like I would an opponent. Good luck at NoGi World's this weekend 👍
These breakdowns are the best, thanks for sharing Keenan. Mahalos from Hawaii!

Do u have a video on how to do a proper hitchhiker escape
It's as simple as just walking your legs out. You're using your feet to run in a circle over that opposite shoulder. It's something you can just do next time you're I that position, no instruction is really needed.
keenen, do analysis of the kron armbar vs. Gary tonen was similar when Gary escaped

That's what I thought too. This video seems to make a good case that Ryan actually escaped, but I am still not totally sure.
I dont think they were teammates at the time so there was no reason not to crank. Gord escaped.
others try this kind of breakdown (start/stop video with drawing and commentary) and nobody is even close to being so effective in relaying info as Keenan
Lawrence Kenshin and MindSmash.
Great breakdown!!!
Awesome details. Thank you.
What did you use to draw over the video ??
I’d like to know as well... what program are you using to narrate and draw on video? please
He figure 4ed his shoulder?
I think of it more like a triangle.
Nice details master Kai.
BUT tonon escaped from what you explain vs kron. Can u explain it pls?
tonon is a crazy person with the submissions he can tolerate
NicoGF Krons armlock was actually a perfect example of this video. His legs were oriented in a triangle behind Tonons head in that fight similar to Craig Jones against Gordon.
awesome breakdown! thanks
Stiff ridge aka. A wedge. - Donahear
Reinforced Doorstop** lmaoo
DID GORDON TAP? You don’t explain what happened
More please keenan sir
please make more videos like this

Can this Gordon fellow beat any of the Mendez brothers?
Gordanski should have capitulated the match after that and said you got me but i didn't tapp!!!..Good win Graigery and THANKS for the use of my arm in the future!!!..
Who would win between yalls??
Amazing analysis! Keep up the good work bro
He has good control of the wrist, why doesn't he just turn it the opposite way hes rolling to get out of it?
What would the escape be to the variation Gordon Ryan does?
Tapping
Turn the arm so thumb is pointing down to mat, if possible before you end up figure 4d.
Thank you Keenan!
Love the arm bar technique. Nice how you explained difference.
His name is unknown
Crazy to realise in Jiu Jitsu world, not many people are as famous and popular as people like Keenan, Gordon Ryan although many of their opponents must be quite high level too.
Very well explained!!!
very interesting. come up to Reno and train whydontcha?
Gordon Ryan on the roids hard

How did that arm not break
It did actually
@@whippycongo482 Nope

GORDANSKY REYNOLDSS had to come back 3 times to notice that
Keenan is Genius Jiu Jit Su IQ
Should have controlled the elbow too
Nice
It's called the hitchhiker escape
You said “do do” lol
Buddy landell corkscrew elbow
Moom! Someone's wrong on the internet!
Why didn't it work? Steroids + not trying to break his arm in two.
Spirit Splice Steroids make your joints stronger and immune to armbars ?
They do make your joints stronger, yeah. And they certainly can give you the mindset you need to ignore pain and pull out of an armbar.
Gordon is NOT the ONLY Athlete in Jiu Jit Su that is on PED
@@kenjirapzilla steroids actually don't do that unless you inject hgh directly into connective tissue and that would fucking hurt.
As as just a spectator and limited knowledge I think that Craig is probably the better grappler but Gordon is just big and lean enough
Lol no.
Lmaooo
U have never heard the narrators call it a corkscrew? I’ve never heard commentators called narrators lol
He let it go.
Shoulder senkaku
Me and friend bought a DVD of CraigJones and we wrote a review about it. Opinions on his DVD? bjj-world.com/craig-jones-down-under-leg-attacks-review/

Gordon definitely Juicing
"Stiff ridge" lol
Great vid - but let it play through and then break it down!!!

NO i think they have already been utilizing this tech
