Hello my little winglets!
Welcome to another SOPLANE Trip Report! Today, we are flying Austrian's Premium Economy Class from Bangkok to Vienna. This was a really good flight and my first time ever in Premium Economy Cabin! I got to sleep for most of the flight which was ace. Seat was comfortable, food was good and the plates and coffee cups just adorable! Highlights were the views with some lightning storms and a wonderful sunrise coming into VIE.

I really like Austrian but have to say that I found their long-haul economy seat extremely tight. Not done that video yet. They are great short haul-haul and long-haul in PE.

No welcome message kind of sucks, but my gosh, 10/10 to Austrian for their food, not a Strudel or Schnitzel in sight, just great looking nosh.

I am doing my best at representing Scotland! LOL Food was really good and doesnt always have to be strudel and schnitzel (although if I had an airline, that would be all I am serving haha). Glad you approve of the shoes....got them in Japan!

That drink was being promoted all over the city. Must have been new at the time. It's so funny. I don't know if nobody thought of how it would sound out in English or whether they thought it was a good marketing ploy! Haha! I love the Austrian uniform - it stands out so much and is true to their brand.....don't be mean about the person! I guess if you are a flight attendant for long enough it messed with your back. Anyway, thanks for watching and your continuous support!

Hi, great video as always. I suppose the overpriced airport food was common everywhere. I usually ask the airport staff where they go for their meal which usually priced cheaper than the main area (still consider expensive compared to outside airport).
What's up with the 1am dinner. Isn't people are more inclined to sleep than to eat at red eye flight? It be nice if the crew are fine with stacking the dinner and breakfast meal in one go.
I not familiar with Austran pricing but do they priced their PE and EY close to each other or they have large gap in between. The closest I can compare is JAL (EY and PE are closely priced) and ANA (large pricing gap between PE and EY) having totally different pricing strategy for their PE products.
Hi Hamtairo! Thanks for watching and commenting :) BKK airport is just so bad for food - both land and airside...well, I read that they have opened up a food court somewhere landside so will need to check that out next time.
I guess if they don't serve a hot meal people would complain too. It's a lose-lose situation I guess. I think we are just so used to getting a hot meal on these flights so expect to be fed at that time but it is still funny when you think about it.
The pricing varies. I think on Asian routes the difference is minimal but on routes to the US, PE seems to be priced more closely to J fares (at least for European carriers). I was looking at ANA PE and the difference between Y and PE was huge and not worth it for me.

Looks a great product! Pity they stopped their HKG flights before I could try them. The food looks good. I bet it tasted good too. BKK airport food is quite average. Yes, overpriced like most airports, but not too ridiculous like some.....USD 18 for a Cheese Whopper meal at CMB Burger King!But I like the shopping there though 😄 Did you get noise cancelling headphones in PEY? The toilet seemed a bit sparsely kitted out with amenities. Was it shared with Y class? Your cheekiness is pushing it with that billboard ad comment.......hahahaha!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, food is always good on Austrian! And I just love love those plates.
Bangkok Airport is just so bad for food, both airside and landside. I think they screwed up majorly by not providing adequate space for food outlets. Read though that there is now a landside food court so shall check that out next time.
I can't remember the headphones actually - definitely not fancy ones though. They would have been the same as in Y. And yes, the toilet was shared with Economy. The main differences were the seats and the food.
Where was the plane at, of the part where it had a lot of lightning??
Must have been Myanmar...I remember that it was shortly after we took off from BKK......

Hey! Thanks for watching! I find the seat very, very comfortable. Austrian and Lufthansa have the same PE seat. And obviously, the food is great too. The main thing though is the price difference. There is only so much I am willing to pay extra for the PE experience but everyone will have their own threshold for it. Hope this helps?

@@pashaforv No, you can't move the armrest but the seats are wider then regular Economy so there shouldn't be a need to lift them up. It's quite comfy as it is!
I can't agree more about Austrian crew being visible - I once showed a friend of mine a picture of the Austrian crew, and the response was 'Eh? A walking lobster?'
Lobster? Hahaha. Never thought of that but yeah...
