Lyrics:
For you my dear sister
Holding onto me forever
Disco dancing with the rapists
Your only crime is silence
Can't work at this anymore
Can't move, I want to stay at home
Tied up to all these crutches
Never far from your hands
Tsunami tsunami came washing over me
Tsunami tsunami came washing over me
Can't speak, can't think, won't talk, won't walk
Doctors tell me that I'm cynical
I tell them that it must be chemical
So what am I doing girl
Cry into my drink I disappear
Eyes for teeth waving over me
Bring down the shadows of my mind
Sleep and breathe under our sheets
Inhale the anxiety in between, in between, in between, in between
Tsunami tsunami came washing over me
Tsunami tsunami came washing over me
Tsunami tsunami came washing over me
Tsunami tsunami came washing over me
Through September under the weather
In between, in between, in between, in between
Tsunami tsunami came washing over me
Tsunami tsunami came washing over me
Tsunami tsunami came washing over me
Tsunami tsunami came washing over me
Take the GI's I will have the spies
Manics are the most underrated band ever, talented, thought-provoking and a sound so distinct from all their contemporaries, true genius
I agree with you mate 100 % spot on
James dean is the most underrated guitarist most definitely. As a band underrated ? No. They used to have a colossal fan base
Completely agree. Miss indie rock music 🙃
Glad I made it to this exact understanding right now, at last.
agreed. They do have a big fanbase, but are still underrated in my eyes. A lot of 90s indie music fans sniff at the Manics, for no obvious reason. I absolutely love this song
James, Nicky, Sean and Richey: legends. Absolutely timeless music that will still be sounding great in hundreds of years to come. They will stand the test of time unlike the bullshit in the singles chart these days. Major respect.
Totally agree mate 100 %
Hundreds of years? Most people have already forgotten about them
@@tomjones12Have you really, tho
This song should have been a lot bigger than it was.
Agreed
THE BEST BAND OF ALL TIME !!!
The whole album is brilliant
The absolute genius that is the music in this track will never tire me. The sitar, the bassline, the strings, it's just perfection.
2021: Hello TUVL
One of the best band in the world.Thank you for your music guys! This is music, not crap.Doesn't matter the number of views...
Coming back to comment section after 11 years. Every time I hear "Tsunami washing over me" I cry. Every time I read alternate lyrics of the song in video it gives me feels. Every time i hear it - it feels impossible, yet, it exists. And Manics are still rocking it (just totally binged their last four albums on rotation in my ear buds) and while they might never reached emotional highs of This is my truth, they still have it. What a band. Performers, artists and just pure human beings.
They are great. Remember this song from 1999 when I was 15. Legends.
I feel just the same
I was fourteen/fifteen as well when this song came out. Great song. :) :)
Meanwhile I’m 16 😂 hi
Same lol I was 15 too, I had the album on tape and used to listen to it on my Walkman.
I was 15 also remember I used to listen to this album in my first girlfriends house all the time and going to Woolworth to buy the singles lol. Can't believe it been 20 years since then. When I listen to a lot of the 90's music like the Manics or The Cranberries the songs tunes melodies bring memory's flooding back. And when me and a friend used to listen to the lyrics of the Manics and learn the meaning of their song quotes taken from history and quotes from famous people. Legend of a group I saw them live in Glastonbury '99 and the performance of Motorcycle Emptiness I can't put it into words especially what he did with the guitar at the end of the song. I can still hear it now.
James is one of the greatest musicians to ever live
Such a beautiful song. I'm 17 years old and MSP is my favourite band and my so sorry about what my generation did with the music...Manics are fantastic!
Superb band and song
This guy needs a friggin medal. That voice coupled with lekko guitar skills ✌️♥️
Omg it brings tears every time I listen to it❤
One of their most underrated songs.
the manics , national treasures
Maniac street preachers the best of all with the powerful voice from james dean bradfield!!! Love them!!!
How beautiful is this man?!
Love the sitar in this song.
I hear you bro.
Iluv
Listened to this so much I can still feel my CD walkman in my hands lmao! audio and tactile memory!
Absolute class. I must have played the album and this song thousands of times by now.
Such a great song... touches me deep every time!
Peace and Love from Greek's Manic Street Preachers fans!!!!!
Around this time he was absolutely unstoppable as a song writer and story teller. I fuckin love this song!
I believe he still is. But around that time I feel they got their most emotional ones done. Loss of Richey, loss of innocence of the world...

June and Jennifer Gibbons
Always makes me cry....too emotional and beautiful.
This is how good music sounds
Exactly
They get better and better the more you listen to them. Forever classics :)
Yep :)
they really do get better the more you listen to them.. 20 years and counting now since i first fell in love with them!! And still the idiots keep writing them off and they come back.... thank goodness!
As a huge fan it's a blessing that they keep making beautiful songs.
2024 and still have shivers!!!
One of manic street preachers greatest songs, and one of the all the time bests. So impactful and incredible. Truly love this classic.
Savage love from Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤
I love the part where James sings; 'Inhale the anxiety in-between, in-between...'
yup indeed. i got goosebumps in these lines :Dd
I love the part between 0.01 to 3.47
Best saying ever
Until In read the lyrics I thought it was "In Heavy anxiety" which I was disappointed to find it wasn't XD
I love it when he sings EVERY part of it!
This is a beautiful song based on The Silent twins brings a tear to my eyes they went through so much & just wanted to be free as individuals 😥
Hope they play this in the new movie this year
暗記するくらいになり、とうとう、歌えるようになりました。そのくらい好きな詩です♡
this song always gives me goosebumps
2023 and still masterpiece 👌
I kinda miss the late 90's now. Awesome band those Manics.
Stay together friends, what a beautiful song.
This is a tune and a half. Fantastic. No one makes music like this anymore. Unique band 🙂🥰 really miss this band
Super epic song. The electric sitar and strings sound very very well
The beat band ever, could sit and listen to them for hours. Amazing to be listening to them for all these years
💕 💕 💕 Overwhelming nostalgia
the sitar and orchestral strings make this imo. great song
Takes me right back to 1999. Best carefree days of my life, and music like this was actually mainstream! We’ll never see the like of it again.
I bought this on CD single with money from my first ever job, still got it somewhere.
@@oranjelibertine keep hold of it man for dear life. No money will replace the memories we have.
Always loved this band! they are GREAT! they are the most underrated band in the history of the modern rock.
I adore this song.Timeless & profound in equal measures.
Makes life worth living.
yes,
A true modern day classic, timeless.
Peace.
That song and sitar clean my soul!!!
very true top band seen them many times live all over the world...if you get get the chance go to see them.
Definitely one of the most underrated great bands of the world. Those of us that admire these guys are the lucky ones. I saw on another video someone said it made her proud to be Welsh. Too right. The Welsh have a lot to be proud of. And I'm English (Ha ha!).
25 years young today! From one of my favourite albums of all time.
Another great tune brilliant lyrics, I read about the silent twins after this, tragic
Saw the Manics on Friday in Liverpool, awesome!! JDB came on and did this in an acoustic request slot, simply brilliant :)
+tinymacmurph ..... yes, it was awesome, mate.
I saw them headline kendal calling earlier this year, they were amazing! One off my bucket list. Need to see them again............. And again.
Gangnum Style song = Billions of views - Manics song Tsunami = Thousands, something aint right there....
Never underestimate the [ wanton ] stupidity of humans.
At least back in the 90s songs like this got into the charts and were played on MTV. A Design for Life and If You Tolerate This.. both got played a lot on MTV and radio! It's hard to imagine songs like this charting now.
Love all of Nicky's bass sounds. They are so penetrating and obvious. So often with bands you can't event hear the bass line.
I love MANICS forever!!
天才的なメロディーメイカーだと思う。
I love this song so, so much ❤️
Very emotional song when you consider what inspired it.
Great song, great video, beautiful in its simplicity.
The sitar sounding arpeggios/melodies in the verses are perfect! When I listen to it the sun is rising to my mind! I think the song has a little bit the same vibe as George Harrison's Here Comes The Sun. The album's lyrics are very personal. They can be very dark but there is still hope shining through. This is a song of hope for me. Manics do write very good melodies. The whole album is great and has much depth. It's got very fine sounds and arrangements as well. I've been listening since '98.
Exactly! This is an anti-Here comes the sun. But in a perfect- Manics way
This sends me shudders, fuckn love it
Great track this. I really need to flick through more of their albums for hidden gems like this one. Stunning images and songwriting...these guys pull it out of the hat everytime...
Another excellent piece of music art perfectly performed and done here....!!!!!!!!
Brings me to tears everytime I hear it, this band gave me a childhood and are very underestimated, the crap played now is irritating to say the least
Had a few moments like this in my life ! God I love the Manics but they are too painful for everyday listening which is a sort of compliment !
Beautiful but so so sad
Not under the weather.
Very well 🙂.
masterpiece
Brilliant song.
This is a beautifl song!
I'm 16 and I heard manic street prechers from my mum. Their lyrics are deep
beautiful from start to finish
I love you so much guys, thank you for the music, thank you for the memories ❤
Aside the brilliant sitar and chill vibe of the song, the story of the Gibbons twins is obviously very disturbing.
But I mainly love how James Dean uses his accent to bend syllables to make the song scan better. 'Cry into my drink I disappear.' For example.
He is used to sing out everything Nick and Richey put together, and mostly their stuff does not rhyme, so he has to be creative with this. And ohh boy he is.
@@PeciskYes. Being the singer is much more than just singing the words. And James Dean nails those small details. 🙌
Favourite manics song
Love this song!
This in my top 20 songs OAT for sure
love the manics. powerful.
Amazing song about 2 amazing misunderstood girls who were failed by the system.
Genius is right. Never a wrong note musically. Wish them well ✌️
Otro gran temazo!
Grandes siempre ❤
10/8/2024🙌🏾🙌🏻🙌🏿
Awesome song! love it
Brilliant song ❤️💋❤️
the most wonderful rock band on earth
This song lead me to read the book about the twins life. Very interesting read ‘ the silent twins ‘ by Marjorie Wallace
one of my favourites
So beautiful and so sad at the same time.
Báječná píseň.... stále a pořád.
I love you so much manic and i love myself more because the love is in the earth.
You're great guys. What a memories...
To June and Jennifer Gibbons....

Inbetween is where we will find you guys ❤

Betsy Cayhuan yes really
Sleep and breathe under our sheets, inhale the anxiety in between -in betwEEN -in beTWEEN -IN BETWEEN! The lyrics... the poetry. Pure genius!
In beTWIN
I forgot how much I FUCKING LOVED this song. I used to get high and write shitty poetry to this shit in HS
I simply adore the bass-line in this song.I just switch off and listen to her in the background. And really enjoy.I think it'one of the best I've ever heard.
Totally superb. Criminally underrated.
