Fantastic song fantastic band can't beat a proper band not manufactured by the record company. Easily one of the best bands to come out of the UK in the past 20 years
+Bernadette Kerr ripped off? Or taken as an influence? Wire also described the music as a mix of New Order and Nirvana - something you might be able to go along with if you really do the audio equivalent of squinting - and explained that the drum loop (yes, more drum machines) was sampled by Moore from the sound of a pinball machine, of all things. manicsdiscog.wordpress.com/2013/05/17/a104-you-stole-the-sun-from-my-heart/
Gave me goosebumps when it came out due to being hopelessly in love at the time, then I hated it for 20 years after because it just " wasn't Holy Bible ", now I've just rediscovered how good this song was! Crazy.
I always understood the lyrics here to tell a story of "you're difficult to be with sometimes, you come bumping in, but I really don't want to lose you! You know I love you, right?"
Also great songwriters and a genuine band vibe. This is a band that's survived great difficulties and they carry those marks with honour (much like Pink Floyd remained "marked" in a sense by the exit and illness of Syd Barrett)
I’ve loved this song since it first came out. It has the ability to make me feel both happy and sad at the same time. At a moment absolutely uplifting, but seconds later it can then make me want to cry. A rollercoaster of emotions contained within 4 and a half minutes. The Manics best work by far.
Drinking - water to stay thin Or is it to purify I love you all the same But there's no - no real truce with my fury You don't have to believe me I love you all the same But you stole the sun from my heart You stole the sun from my heart You stole the sun from my heart You stole the sun from You stole the sun from You have - broken through my armour And I don't have an answer I love you all the same I paint - the things I want to see But it don't come easy I love you all the same But you stole the sun from my heart You stole the sun from my heart You stole the sun from my heart You stole the sun from You stole the sun from Think I'm - I'm lost among the undergrowth So much so I woke up I love you all the same But you stole the sun from my heart You stole the sun from my You stole the sun from my heart You stole the sun from You stole the sun from I have - I've got to stop smiling It gives the wrong impression I love you all the same
To those who somebody dared steal the sun from their hearts : the sun will always shine guys!!and never allow anyone to steal it from ur heart ever again
Will never get tired of this song. Never get tired of manic street preachers and always in love with Nickys lyrics and James voice. Music today had nothing on these guys
Finally catch them last november in singapore (its the nearest place i could afford from my country Indonesia) after a lifetime waiting. I'm 42 but i broke in tears while watching and i really didnt care at all
All the way back from 92 motorcycle emptiness, to the new stuff and the classic mid 90s songs, great band. This one always reminds me of great times in the mid 90s x
Hi. No comma is needed in last sentence in native English - adding one makes it obvious you're a (good) second-language speaker. if you swap the phrases, you do need a comma (Richie liked it, I think.)

Still to this day one of the best bands ever to grace the earth :)
I totally agree!! 🎉❤
I seen them backing Bon Jovi at the RDS, They where Fantastic!!
Yes yes yes , this is in my top 5 albums of all time...its very emotionally moving , I like to listen to it from start to finish like a book.

mark piper No THE best!!
mark piper They've been going more than 20 years though ;)
+Melanie Lomas Without a doubt!!
+mark piper Agreed, got to be a contender for the best Welsh band ever and they're in the top 20 or 30 UK all time IMO.

2023 - still SUBLIME❤This album was the last great rock album I fell in love with. It made sense of a world that made no sense ❤
And still does
And some.
James voice just takes me right back to being a teenager 😊
i feel you
Same my favourite band back in the day still is 😁❤️
The Manic street preachers a band with fantastic lyrics no gimmicks no bullshit real people with raw passion anti elite ❤
I like the guitar riff in this song. It is such a bittersweet sound. This is a good song on any playlist.
its my fave part. Its sort of, that weird cross between happy and sad
A perfect use of dissonance in the scale.
thaks God, for existing in the same era of this band.
Loving this in August 2024. The country's falling apart . Personal life fucked but great listening to this at great volume x
One of the most underrated singers from the nineties, James Dean Bradfield the great.
Now you say it I definitely hear that too.
Hugely underrated guitarist too
Underrated?? Why?
@@billybeetroot8595 Because whenever somebody talks about Nineties era singers, JDB is never mentioned.
Incredible range mate... So good 👌
Remember this back in 98 when I was a labourer on building sites..Radio used to help keep me sane at work..it was like, roll on Friday yall
Music, ain't it something !
22 years old... My god.
But it's totally amazing to this day.

nearly 20 years on and this song still gives me fucking goosebumps.
RoasterMcdougalify And me pal it's a real Welsh thing.

Sorry to hear that. The most important is that you lived through that
Never let anyone take your sunshine continue to shine your light to those who want and need it ❤️
Totally agree xx
I always understood the lyrics here to tell a story of "you're difficult to be with sometimes, you come bumping in, but I really don't want to lose you! You know I love you, right?"
You Stole the Sun from My Heart ... how many people can relate to this lyric?
Alan Flynn me for sure my heart broken I hope heals.
Anyone who has been really in love
Broken hearts can't can be fixed, hence the broken bit.
I can definitely relate to that lyric 😢💔
James dean bradfield is a legend amazing guitarist singer songwriter and musician
Not Exactly! The Songwriter of the manics actually is Nicky!😎
@@enry2482 Nicky is the lyricist James writes a lot of the music
There's nothing wrong or unmanly about shedding tears over the loss of a loved one. Wish you peace and comfort in this time.
This " Being a Man" crap needs to be assigned to history as it's pathetic!!
Well said from a 65 year old man who's lost family members but who now loves life and a woman who stole my heart 👍
❤️❤️❤️❤️ those lovely welsh lads isn't it 😚
Hello, how are you doing it's nice meeting you here..
The UK's most authentic indie band...pure emotion. Long live the Manics 🏴 from a Scot x
Also great songwriters and a genuine band vibe. This is a band that's survived great difficulties and they carry those marks with honour (much like Pink Floyd remained "marked" in a sense by the exit and illness of Syd Barrett)
This song, the video, the colours, the birds, it takes my soul into another dimension ✨✨
#ManicStreetPreachers are the best Welsh band ever very very talented musicians and very intelligent too.
The manics as good today as they've always been

Is there a word beyond legendary? Then this song is it!!!
A consistently and brilliant Welsh band. Can not fault them.
Good music never ages-🫶2023🫶
What I really love on musicians is music they produce.
One of only about 20 bands who made music, made it and still ever really 'meant it' -legendary
I have'nt played the Manics for a while and I am falling back in love with them, they are so life affirming XXXXX
Ditto mate, 61 now n strutting about the house like a kid blasting these out 🤣

James Dean Bradfield, the best vocalist ever!
along with Paul Heaton and Jackie Abbott
Reminiscent of Freddie Mercury. And so underrated.
