JDB is one of the best. Absolute legend. Totally underrated also. Guitar work is incredible, and Everything Must Go, despite it’s mainstream popularity at the time of release, is one of the most original and emotionally charged albums of all time. I love that album, which got me into them, but the Holy Bible just about out-does it for me. That is genius level stuff and I struggle to explain to my friends why.. most of them don’t get it, but that makes it all the more intense and personal experience. MCP 🤘🏼
Riches rhythm guitar sounds perfectly fine, nothing wrong, i dont get the criticism. We loved him no matter what, all the boys in the band are magnificent
I have no dog in this hunt, but in a song that places minimal rhythmic requirements, a more adept rhythm player would have added more dynamism to the song. Dude played barre chords all right through and it may be a testament to the talent of other guys in the band that they carried Edwards to no discernible detriment.
Have to concur with my fellow guitarists. Love Richey but his guitar abilities are not sufficient for the type of anthemic stadium the rock the Manics are going for. Same goes for Nicky too, this has always been a band of 2 scholarly poets being carried by 2 musos.
Saw them live just a few night ago and they sounded better than ever. This song though takes me back to my freshman year of college driving around by myself, windows down, just listening to this album on permanent repeat.
That was both amazing and heartbreaking. Seeing Richey perform.. stunning. But he didn't look engaged at any point. I hope he's out there somewhere living a beautiful life. XRJ
Richey is definitely living a beautiful life out there. They would have found and genetically ID'ed a body by now if he wasn't. Thanks for "The Holy Bible" Richey. Top Album.
I read “Withdrawn Traces by Sara Hawys Roberts, Leon Noakes and most importantly Richards sister Rachel Edwards. & somehow it made me feel closer to Richey. Which is crazy cause it’s not even in his words, expect the words they quoted from him. I kinda believe he’s disappearance has a deeper meaning, a message with it. As his disappearance really made a talk about him, even for none fans. He got his name and fame when he isn’t there to entertain anymore. I hope that wherever Richey are, he’s happy with his decision and live his life as he want to live it, and not under the pressure of society, nor anymore. ~ I wish him all peace and comfort ~ miss you Richey. ..
I'm reading the book right now, and I'm feeling in the exact same way. Reading the quotes of his letters, and all of those stories of his friends makes me feel like he was one of my beloved friends. And it feels very hard thinking about what happened to him. I try to think that it was his decision to run away from his life and he was happy with it. I hope he's healthy and happy and he is in peace and calmness in his mind and heart...
Watching him, you do wonder what's going through his head. Something of a lost soul, but he has a voice and an audience to speak to. Did anyone really know him?
This song is amazing,,i walked down a pick your own farm once, group in a car were playing the song out of the car window, i looked at them, they looked at me enough said, we all feel down at times, this song helped me understand that, still does simply amazing.
Do you have more of their videos live in Phoenix 1993? I used to see this exact or similar videos of them back then before RUclips deleted all the inactive channels. Especially from the crowd perspective
Richey siempre supo tocar, esa historia que nunca estuvo conectado era un mito, solamente simulaba tocar en las presentanciones de tv en donde ya tenian los instrumentos pre grabados y los obligaban a hacer playback
One of the best songs ever made
True
Verdade. Obra prima
Indeed
There is nothing like it.
Real!!
Love that cheeky little change of the lyrics from “From feudal serf to spender” to “From feudal serf to festival goer.” Brilliant.
Sharp listening 👂, I missed it myself, so I checked it after reading this. It's around 1:55.
First time I've seen this.
Can hear Richey's scratching guitar high in the mix
He's not scratching he's playing quite well, the odd strumming mistake, but hey this is punk, your meant to make mistakes live.
Richey so cool!!!
What a band!, still listening to this in 2024....
Richey looks absolutely beautiful and Nicky looks… well… he’s dressed like a middle aged housewife in the 1960s…
Nicky's signature look so 😊
Love Nicky looking like and old woman from Coro😂😂
Imagine it...
Today lads I'm going to be Ena Shaples ...with a heavy ass Thunderbird..
Love it
...Last Of The Summer Wine I'd say...

The song that made me finally realise how great they really were. Overwhelming.
they still do

they would had been way better with second guitar
I have no dog in this hunt, but in a song that places minimal rhythmic requirements, a more adept rhythm player would have added more dynamism to the song. Dude played barre chords all right through and it may be a testament to the talent of other guys in the band that they carried Edwards to no discernible detriment.
there speaks a non-guitarist, how good the song could be with a decent second guitar

@astronautist4716 Well, and they keep on playing the "anthemic stadium rock" until this day, which proves that it's not important.
31 anni ammazza come passa il tempo. ho ancora il cd, per me motorcycle rimane la canzone dei manic

Amazing ❤
Really? Need to see them again! Saw them in 2003 and 2016.

Wow
No había podido oír la guitarra de Richey tan claramente en un video de ellos en vivo

Brano bellissimo e poi La band al completo un vero spettacolo
I love the manics ...always will...thankyou...❤❤
My heart breaks for Richey. His discomfort is palpable.

He kind of reminds me of Syd Barret from Pink Floyd in a way.
@@LuciusDriftwood Why the flip do you come up as David Mitchell?
@@nicholamc2629 There is more than 1 David Mitchell in this world, princess. No, I don't know Robert Webb

0:13 Sacha Béhar à la guitare
Accomplished guitarist
I never knew that simon pegg was the lead singer for the manics in this period.
that white Les Paul could tell a story.
Nice guitar but I prefer Richeys teles!

JDB is awesome
Saw them live a few years ago. At A festival, they was bored and.... the crowd was bored. Wish they had made a Bit more of them selfs
Im upset i was 2 when this happened
Best live version of the song. Pure gold ❤🎉
When the Manics were the Manics....
Who’s playing the keys? Someone offstage?
Dave Eringa, their producer.
you can seem them just before the end
as a guitar player myself there is fuck all wrong with Richeys guitar playing, it fits in perfectly with the whole mix
Recorded from the soundboard?
Could James Dean Bradfield's vocals sounded any better?

Richey could play the guitar after all, my life's been a lie

Watching after Glastonbury set. Amazing
