@@cacen180 It was always pretty unrealistic that a band that sing anti-capitalist anthems would break the US unfortunately. They are big in Japan though
Couldn't agree more, unfortunately his most technical guitar skills are only showcased in the earlier stuff before Richie disappeared. You listen to a lot of the stuff since then and the riffs and playing have simplified. He's a guy I could listen to all day. Slash and burn baby😎
The problem is they haven't released a decent album since 1998. So they have fallen further down the pecking order. Mind you it doesn't really matter who plays what and where at this monstrosity of an event. Its is populated by middle class media studies students and, worse still, their parents so they can "ironically" sing along to Parton, or which ever dinosaur is dragged out. It is painful to watch car crash television. It is like a modern day, wannabe trendier Butlins. Cabaret with something for all the family. The Manics stopped being relevant years ago, and Wire needs to ditch the glam - he now just looks like a 50 year old bank manager who likes to dress up in women's clothes on the weekend. Embarrassing but somehow befitting of this woeful weekend.

Great band. I never tire from listening to them. Fresh and intelligent lyrics and able musicians. Yes, they are underrated, but once a MSP fan, you'll be hooked for life. Love to see them live in Malta.
Ive met James in Cardiff in a pub.Being a guitarist myself,we talked guitars he gave me advice on new pedals and guitars too buy.He was one of the nicest guys lve ever met.l think he liked me cause l did'nt mention Richey once!!!!!! What a kind thoughtful bloke James is....Richey is still alive l reckon.....living in a bookshop in Amsterdam.....he mentions this cause he wanted to do an lan Curtis....one of his heroes.Curtis would have moved to Amsterdam to escape being famous.
This is the best song of the 90s not live forever or champagne supernova nor karma police or bittersweet simphony or the universal... This is the proper hymn for the people, by the people.
My favourite song from such a brilliant Welsh band! I've been a fan since they first started out, and this is classic Manics. One of the best riffs too.🤘🏴
I love watching this. JDB's compulsive checking of the guitars controls makes me smile. It reminds me of my compulsive cancelling of indicators on my motorbike.
Watching the 2023 set on the telly at the weekend. Excellent set but wanted to check out previous outings. 2014 seems an age ago...another era. Just love the riff on this track, it's melancholy but up lifting at the same time...
i wish they could have gotten a better crowd mic! that would have made this sound better. You couldn't really hear the crowd that well over the band, which isn't the case in some other live videos I've seen.
perhaps if they start writing decent albums which to be fair they've carefully avoided doing for the last 20 years then they will rise up the billing list.
I have no idea why people want to put up a video on you tube and one in which they obviously have to search for, then slag off the band, Glastonbury, the people who go there. I was at Glastonbury this year and the past few years, I didn't watch the Manics, Dolly, Kasabian principally because I didn't want to, but I believe I am grown up and therefore don't feel the need to put into print spiteful and derogatory comments. But then again I am not tiny minded. Good video though of a favourite manic song
Great band performance, absolutely........ no discussion BUT: the VOICE of Richey is not copy-able .... In the second hearing, it is more than great, sorry for the words..... Richey looked a lot like my son who died in 2016.... Would be great to hear you somewhere in Germany....
Theres rumours of a 20th anniversary Holy Bible tour, all the X Manics fans will really be able to get their teeth in to that one...how dare the old farts piss on Richeys grave etc etc. If it happens which I hope it does i'll be getting tickets and enjoying every second of it :o) Long live The Manics!!

The greatest riff. But most probably never heard it. They're told other guitarists are greats when they are not

Not in my house he's not
Ridiculous comment. Underated is to waste time writing up stuff like that. Lack of knowledge really.
@Magister Ludi Really? I wonder if Noel could pull off playing sweet child of mine including the outro solo like Bradfield did the other year
Think Manic Street Preachers should be on the Pyramid stage, far better than other acts superb James is just amazing, I love this song.
