    Sorry for the background bugles....Born & Raised Outdoors - Land of The Free Project was blaring in the background. Those Elk101 guys like to bugle : ) Go watch their Wyoming series if you haven't already!
    Lots of options when selecting your release...we are going to keep playing around with a variety of styles and brands until we find something that works well for each us.

    A video about arrow building would be great. Specifically, whether it’s better to start with a lighter platform arrow and add weight with an insert or, just have a heavier overall shaft? Love the content you guys put out!

    I’m new to the archery hunting game but falling in love quickly. I appreciate this channel. I honestly do not know why you guys don’t have your own show in the outdoor, sportsman’s or pursuit channels. You guys are way entertaining and have better content then some shows on them channels.

    Hinge saves my hunting career. Target panic was so over the top I was quit after 40 years of shooting a bow. I now can shoot any release aid with back tension. And it will change for the good on how you shoot your bow. I've never been so deadly accurate. I hunt with my hinge and every deer I've shot with it has been lights out nobody's home kill shots !! Never ever been so confident I'll shoot in front of anyone. In the past didn't like a crowd , now I hope for one just so I can show my skills !!

    Excellent video , one other exercise , I learned from Dee , was to draw anchor aim hold on the bullseye , and let down without releasing , really helps with target panic

  • @controversialhunter8032

    Lol , my wife and I had a discussion kinda about that today,
    I went and bought another release a week ago , and then today I went and bought a bunch of batterys at Costco, well she bought batterys about 2 weeks ago barely opened them . For some push button style lights I keep in our sheds.
    Anyways she starts giving me crap and brings up that release !,I'm like hay if it breaks or I forget to grab it or something it's like a gun . Better to have it and not need it . Then to not have it and need it. Or like the batterys , better to buy them before you run out. So when you need more you already have them,
    Rather then run out and need them! Now, I drive a manual transmission truck , my second release is around my gear shifter. So it's always in my truck .

    Glad I stumbled onto this channel . I use a wrist release but been wanting to go with a thumb release.

  • @chengsterboi07
    @chengsterboi07 5 лет назад

    Every shooter is different. I made the switch to a thumb release from a index wrist strap release. It made me a more accurate archer. I dont really like a stiff tension so mine is set right in the middle. Gonna get most the people in my hunt group to try the thumb release but it is all personal preferences. Good info guys. love the videos.

    Hey you guys! Great video! I'm new to archery and was wondering if you could a video on what style of broadheads to use for different types of hunting! And if you all have a general preference to fixed blade or mechanical styles? Any pointers and recommendations would be awesome. Keep at it!

    • @controversialhunter8032
      @controversialhunter8032 6 лет назад

      foxmichael26 , the biggest thing is finding out what the laws are on what you can and can't use in the state you plan on hunting!
      Another big thing is broad head makers don't sale sample packs. Meaning you have to buy them shoot them and see if you can get them to group well.
      I find this to be where I spend a ton of money. Because not all broad heads fly the same . And at $40 just to try them it's crazy . So find what ever flys the most accurate for you, and stay with in the state laws! Good luck this year happy hunting!

    Love the tip to work on shot mechanics at short range. I will be able to use that at home!
    I am currently using a TRU Ball Beast release on my right hand but because of the strap configuration, it is ok but not as comfortable when I use it on my left hand. i am currently switching to lefty because my left eye is better even though it is not my dominant eye. Can you talk about releases for lefty's or are all the releases all supposed to be ok for both left and right.

  • @azcoueshntr
    @azcoueshntr 6 лет назад

    The main thing I require from a release is the ability to transition to a handgun. Hunting on the Mexico border in Arizona we have the smugglers/ cartels & mean dogs to deal with. Most of the time they only want water etc.... But it does make you think. I like the flexible nylon wrist strap like you used is real good. Good video, more to consider. Well done.

    With it being called Archery 101, I thought the video would be for beginners. This seems like something aimed at archery hunters with quite a bit of experience. For example, I'm just starting out, and I can only guess by context what jargon like "anchor point", "sear system" (spelling?), "target panic", etc.
    Can you recommend any video series for someone who is just starting out with compound bows? Like to have the terms explained and maybe how to adjust draw length on a beginner bow, etc.

    I'v been using the Scott silverhorn for the past couple of years.Highly adjustable and relatively cheap at about $70.00 depending on where you shop.Been pondering on trying a back tension style release,what are the pro's and cons of back tension and are they better for hunting or are they more of a target release?Love you're video's guys,cheers

    • @gethushin

      We haven't used a back tension yet. Jeremiah has and we'll try and cover that in another video. Again, it really comes down to personal preference like many things. He likes to practice a lot with the back tension and then hunt with an index release. Other guys use the back tension exclusively or the index exclusively.

    I seem to be more like my bench rest rifle. I never hook my finger on the trigger.. and I don’t slap at it either.. when using the hook type the accuracy is all over. Use my finger tip to first knuckle bust nocks...go figure

    Single pin with dial sight or multi pin sight, what do you guys prefer.

    • @gethushin

      This is like picking boots....everyone has a different opinion. Casey played around with both last year and when it was all said and done he opted to have a multi-pin set up vs. the single. 3-4 pin with slider has been what we've used. Sighting the pins in at 30, 40, 50, 60 and then sliding. These have been good especially as we shoot 3D courses and practice out to yardages that exceed your last pin.
      Again, everyone will have a different opinion. If possible you should try both to see what works best for you.

    I use a Hotshot Nano and it's freaking awesome!! I hope to try a Wiseguy for my next release but I don't see the Hotshot failing me anytime soon.

    Create a compound bow which can be used by fingers.

      Find a long ATA compound. Anything 38 and above can be done without that horrible short ATA pinch.
      I train with my PSE Beast EXT with both a release and with fingers.
