I remember getting started with hunting years ago one year buying a shotgun , the next year getting a bow , then a .22, then a 30.06 amd of course an AR. Getting set up is pricey. Especially when you want a good setup . You need a 4 wheel drive truck , safe , smoker , etc. . Sky is the limit but in my experiences getting set up and practicing is half the fun . It’s not fun sitting still in a tree amd the real work starts when a deer is down 😂. Now that ammo is so scarce or expensive I bought a new bow to get my shooting fix and am loving it .
Yep I’ve trained with a sweet spot many times. I’ve shot these a lot during summer 3-D shoots and then I’ll go to my RX-1 index or my Carter thumb for hunting season.
Stan also makes a fantastic release called the Perfex Resistance. My daughter had been battling severe target panic for about 6 months. We tried everything. Different releases, coaching techniques, drills, mental management but none of it worked. Then one day she tried the Perfex Resistance and her target panic was gone in about 2 days. Within a week she was shooting higher scores than before she developed the target panic. When set to the correct tension for the shooter it is virtually impossible to punch or force/manipulate the shot because there are no moving parts that would allow the shooter to punch it. The main thing that sets this release apart from the rest is that it works off of tension but it is NOT a hinge. A hinge can be manipulated to force the short or can go off unexpectedly or not go off at all, if there is to much or to little pressure in the hand. PLEASE do a review on this release. More people should know about it because it will absolutely save a lot of kids and adults from developing target panic and could cure many more. #Stan #Perfex Resistance YOUR VIDEOS ARE SOME OF THE BEST I HAVE SEEN. Truly awesome job. Very comprehensive and well thought out.
I think I'm gonna drop the coin on it...thanks for your description. It se4ms to me a more natural release...kind of like the string rolling off your fingers traditionally.....
I’ve always shot index style and have been considering jumping over to thumb button. During my fall seasons the weather is always warm. However, during my spring seasons I’ll be wearing gloves. How do gloves affect the handhelds? Im meaning thick winter gloves not just mechanics gloves. With an index I just move the glove out of the way and pull my jacket over the wrist strap to keep warm
I love this video and you do a great job. I'm not trying to be a mean but truball makes a wrist strap for there hand held releases that you can slide into where the little ovals truball stickers are. I have a sweet spot pro with that strap. Sorry If I'm sounding like a jerk, cause im not trying to I was just letting you know.👍🏹
Charles, you sound like a courteous person, especially how you prefaced your comment, stating that you were not intending to be cocky. Nothing wrong with trying to clarify a point. We all appreciate it. Kellen seems like an intelligent gent and I'm confident he finds your comment helpful.
I just bought the Scott Sigma few weeks back and it’s absolutely fabulous..the click is not as loud some others... And this thing is adjustable both the thumb position and tension ..
Any thoughts on back tension releases, like carter's evolution or Dudley's silverback? I've been shooting index for years but I'm making the switch to either a hinge or back tension. I'm leaning in the direction of a Scott longhorn hinge but I've tried and like the evolution. Any reason you'd go with the Carter over the Scott? Thanks for the video!
Those things still to this day terrify me. I don't know why they just do. I'm shooting a Tru Fire Hardcore right now. I love the hell out of it and the fold back feature is nice if you want the release out of the way but i really do want to learn a handheld trigger style release too. I was looking at the Tru Ball Fang. Just haven't decided to make the jump yet.
If you have ever shot a recurve, the drawing effect feels very similar. I was apprehensive too, but after about 2 dozen shots with mine, it is amazing. Thought I wanted 4 finger, but 3 is actually a better feel, for me.
Great video, I have learned a lot from your videos!! I am a hunter from Reno and I watch all your videos. Keep up the great work!! Maybe someday I will make the trip to your shop.
Thank you!!! Your the first person that reviewed the Stan Perfex that 1 doesn't have monster sized digits and 2 actually mentioned the size you had in your hands. But is the Stan Perfex loud? Never fired it..
hi. A question. How do i aim with a scope and dot on for target archery ? Do i always focus on the target, no matter where the dot stands. And comes the dot automatically in the yellow. Or must i always focus on the dot, and try then to put it on the yellow.
The last option is the right one. It's like the sights on a gun, rearsight & target out of focus, front sight sharp. Think of it this way: It is much better to put a fine sharp dot (your scope/pin) anywhere you want to hit on the target even if said target is slightly blurry.
I was given a hand held trigger release that is unique. To fire your arrow you have to push the thumb trigger in and then slowly release your thumb off of the trigger to release and fire your arrow. My friend bought it to try it out, but he didn’t like it. I had a tendency to punch the trigger on a conventional trigger release which this reverse release eliminates. Now I have a new problem that I hope someone can help me with. This reverse release has no brand name on it and I need a couple parts for it and I’ve long since lost contact with the friend that gave it to me. Does anyone know what company makes this reverse trigger release. Sincerely Tony Shanahan
I had a Stan shot about 500 arrows with it and returned it. Bought a Carter and I will keep it forever. If you like a light pressure release the stan will punch you in the face every now and then. One I had randomly fired early every 50 arrows or so.
Great review, helped alot! Luckily i found the release on your review. It will be the boss X. The head can turn 360° free, while you turn your hand when pulling.Outstanding feature! The click noise on release would matter only when the bow is absolut noiseless.
Excellent overview of hand held releases! Comprehensive and very efficient - you must do a lot of editing of your narrative before filming. After watching I went to my local bow shop (Lancaster Archery) and got the Stan Perfex (thumb). All I can say is wow I didn't know what I was missing out on. I winded up getting the XL version and the same color as the one in your video. Do you think the color will be a problem in the woods? Asking because I see they also make an all black version for hunting. I also liked the Stan Perfex back release (for target panic abatement) but hey I gotta leave some items for xmas.
does thumb and hinge release give a slightly longer draw? my draw is 26.5 if i could increase my draw on the compound anyway possible it would be nice. please any advice would be appreciated
Just depends on the release. Some have a really short neck, which may cause you to lengthen your draw ½" or so, but usually it doesn't change anything besides your peep height
@@InsideOutPrecision Thank you for the advice. Could you tell me if the hinge by ultraview can igve me that 1/2 inch? Also If i get a really really short d loop, that would help right?
We don't sell Scott so it's hard to get my hands on one. We dropped every company owned by The Outdoor Group because their such a train wreck of a company
Fingers are FAR less accurate with compound bows. Also, most modern compound bows will pinch your fingers so bad at full draw that they're painful to shoot. What suggestions are you looking for? Bows, arrows, releases?
Just suscribed this was a awesome video. Where is the shop located? Edit your ABOUT Section! Lol just saying some people like to check it out before they suscribe haha
None are right if it doesn't sit in your palm at all times. I can't imagine if a monster walked in and my release flopped out of my hand or fell to the ground. Will never change to thumb release as long as I live.
One to two hundred bucks for a small piece of metal/alloy is rediculous. I bought a Chinese wolf from Ebay for $30. Looks and shoots just like a nock to it at a fraction of the price

You can buy strap for truball release. Connects to the small cutouts on each side

You can buy a tru ball v lock strap and attach it to that Tru ball boss x. They work like a champ
Much needed info, super useful video. Always appreciate the content you bring.

The training lock is a great feature. Would've made my handheld easier to get used to.
Once again a great informative video. Thanks and keep em coming
I have always used a strap with my Tru Ball Boss X.
I really wish they would add a small piece of magnet on the wrist strap so we can attach the release to it, stops it from dangelling when not in use.
Can you do a review on the b3 ghost?

Haven't personally shot one, but lots of people love it.

Are those blacktails on the wall behind you?
Yep.
@@InsideOutPrecision Nice!

You must have had it set extremely light. Mine is pretty light but I’ve never once had a misfire. Glad you found one that works for you though!
@@InsideOutPrecision I tried a bunch of settings. I noticed it rattled when engaged if you shook it. I may have had a bad one.
what about resistance releases?

If they're close enough to see the color of your release it's either too late for them, or too late for you haha and

Was wondering...where did you get the little tool you have shown when you’re doing the videos on the releases and anchor point?
MD50 gear
Thank you for the information! And thank you for the great content! Learning new things with all the videos :)
How about back tension for hunting
Wouldn't be my first choice.
Do you hunt w/Thumb or Index?
I hunt with my Perfex
@@InsideOutPrecision ...thanks,..where can I get more info on your coaching?

Whats a good thumb release with a pretty low budget?
beasemir Look at the Truball Rave
I shoot nasp but I am considering hunting do you guys have suggestions, also why not just use your fingers?

I was wondering what your suggestions are on bows and arrows
What do you think of the tru fire sear?
It's a very comfortable release and I like how you can adjust the click length as well as travel!

Where is your shop located?
The Bow Rack in Springfield, OR

Hey thanks for the message. I work at The Bow Rack in Springfield, OR.
Which website to buy this releasers
What will they come up with next ?
The old days thumb style release worked by "pushing" the trigger...now they have to be pulled...not very comfortable to me
I never lost or left my fingers anywhere lol
Where did you get that hat?
From Mathews. It's on their website
i get my click as soon as I hit my anchor. but that's just my preference.
I thought the perfex is a resistance not a thumb?
Nope, its a thumb.
@@InsideOutPrecision just looked at the website, you can get a perfex in either thumb or resistance.

At 2:24 what fired that
Not sure what you're talking about...

That’s not true. That TRU ball has a wrist strap that you can buy and fit to it.
Yeah there are after market straps. I just meant it doesn't come with one.
