Outstanding review Kevin. I’ve just ordered a new boat fitted with the exact same engine. Watching your review reconfirmed I’ve made the best decision Cheers
From one Kevin to another on the other side of the globe, great job on the review and great camera work! Currently negotiating on a new 90 Tiller for my fishing boat, can't wait til spring. Thank you
Four stroke outboard technology has come a long ways. The weight and power gap between the old two and four strokes isn't big anymore. I picked a Suzuki simply because I live in a predominantly Yamaha and Mercury area and I just don't like being like everyone else. Great video.
@@itskevhere1954 Just picked my boat with my dream motor, put it in down at woodies for the first run this morning. Scary fast and what a great addition to my boat and future fishing trips. to all who don't have a Suzuki. YOU SHOULD GET ONE
Great overall review.... question #1...what did you pay for the motor separated from the installation cost. Question #2...how much more efficient compared to the older 2 stroke you took off...hour meter, time on water, however you can measure it if you ever did a figure with the older motor. #3.....can this motor get down to very slow trolling speed without the need for kicker motor.... #4....is it a bugger to change the oil/filter...other required maintenance not faced with the older motor. My issue is probably like a lot of other people...spending a big chuck to get only a little bit of gain....if the two stroke was not broken or warn out you can't make up the cost differences on gasoline and oil with such a big price tag.
This is also about the smoot operation, when yoy vent to 4 stroke you never go back and ok i have a much smaller one at the moment a 9,8 because live with a channel i pass out to the sea, but it,s the fuel efficent application and espesially sound and power that justify buy something better. Oil changes are not a big of a hazzle, if get a good oil filter wrench you find out. Before i got a Tohatsu 30 4 stroke efi and it,s quite easy to change oil. The difference in this one is that it requires moore oil. In the future i buy one like this i think, a fenemonal engine.
No adjustments were needed to the ski pole, the Suzuki is slightly higher than the merc but still plenty of clearance, had a skier on, and towed a biscuit with no problems
I will be doing an update at some stage, the motor had only done about 9hrs when the video was filmed, it's done more hours now and had it's first service, there are a couple of clips showing it's speed and out of the hole, I will cover this in more detail soon, it has no problem pulling an adult skier up, watch for the update
No it's not flybywire, although it does have that capability, FBW was quite a bit more expensive so we stuck with cables which I'm happy with they work well.
Thanks...So far so good? Any updates like I wish I'd gotten this option or prop? Any self maintenance you've attempted so far? I'm going to be ordering that exact motor for a 19' Hurricane fundeck repower from the current Evinrude ETEC, Im afraid might have an issue down the road and I'll be in trouble getting parts for it etc. and miss having that boat for the entire season.
No crocodiles, alligators, or snakes in New Zealand, you can swim anywhere, although you do have watch out for the great white and mako sharks in the ocean.
Whats the difference between the Suzuki 90hp and the 115hp besides the price? Suzuki website shows the outboards to have the same exact specs. Bore and stroke, displacement, weight and everything. Trying to find out, because if it's true, then the 115 is a waste of money.
Hi Captain Ron, I'm not sure where you got your information but the 90hp is a significantly different motor to the 115, it is the same motor as the 140hp, the 140 has a larger displacement giving it a slight edge over the 115. I've added a couple of links for you to see the difference in specs, when we brought the motor Suzuki were running a special on the 115BTL so it was a pretty reasonable deal, no money wasted on the 115 for us. Check out the info from the links hope that helps. www.suzukimarine.com/outboard/115-200hp/df115b/ www.suzukimarine.com/outboard/40-90hp/df90a/
Dude, I'm sorry but you are wrong: Everybody I know into boats loves 2-strokes and the smoke and the noise/sound - including me. I also have a 4 stroke but now have to worry about changing the oil and the oil filter and the timing belt and all that shat
100% mate, also the punch out of the hole is much better with a 2 stroke. I had a Suzuki 115hp 4 stroke on my old boat & whilst it was a fantastic motor, I sold it & bought another identical hull with an old school carbed 2 stroke 115hp Evinrude & the 2 stroke absolutely obliterates it on takeoff...also with the savings I made on the price difference, I could basically buy another boat, let alone enough fuel to last me a long, long time.
Length is 5.1meters, from memory the weight is around 1050kgs, I couldn't find any info of the weight online, it is almost identical to the current model the 530, the 585 weighs 1500kgs but it light than that, hope that helps
Not sure I understand the question, but I think your asking how big was the Lake I was in, it's a small hydro lake not far from where we live, it's used for water skiing and jet boat sprints
Thank you for videos. I’m from Russia of the north Yakutia and I decided buy such Suzuki 115. I think I won’t regret it. Very beautiful river. 👍🏼
Thanks for your comment, if you get the Suzuki 115 I'm sure you wont be disappointed, all the best

suzuki are the best, their 15hp is EFI and 44kg, yet yamaha are 51kg and carb'd also sluggish, suzuki anyday for me
15 eltric best
Great stuff, I have a 140hp on the way from West Coast Marine to go on 5.5m plate ally boat, cannot wait for the repower
Thanks for the comment, enjoy your new Suzuki you won't be disappointed.

Looking to replace an evenrude 115 with something like this what kind of price did you have to pay to get into the new one?
I ❤ the new Suzuki's
Did you have to get the ski pole re adjusted with new motor?
No adjustments were needed to the ski pole, the Suzuki is slightly higher than the merc but still plenty of clearance, had a skier on, and towed a biscuit with no problems
Do you know if they kept the same height mounting hole as the two stroke when they refitted with the four stroke
Yes the same mounting holes were used, it was a perfect fit
You did not mention the performance or power compared to the 2 stroke no opinion on the hole shot or top end speed ?.

Does this motor have fly-by-wire controls? If so, what do you think about them compared to the cable version?
No it's not flybywire, although it does have that capability, FBW was quite a bit more expensive so we stuck with cables which I'm happy with they work well.
Was this a DF 115 B model ? Thanks for sharing your Video
Yes this is the DF115B
