When your own party turns against you, you got to realise that something is wrong.
To me is clear that he wanted to cling to power after him and his family have recently been involved in some scandals…
Lucky i didn’t turn out into nothing too serious. If the MPs wouldn’t have acted as quick to enter the parliament and vote to lift the martial law, I am not sure what would have happened…
Imagine having to climb walls etc to enter the building because the police and the military are blocking the entry. That was heavy to hear.
I would definitely sentence that guy to prison for trying to establish full control of the country with no reasonable grounds.

Korean War, and NK, has nothing to do with this situation. It was a president that has almost no power throwing a hail Mary to not be impeached or go to prison. Unfortunately for him, he is also super unpopular and people from previous martial laws are still alive and active. 1979 feels like a long time ago but my husband remembers the last instance of martial law and he isn't 50 yet

It’s exactly what it sounds like, political party within the South Korean government that are pro North..meaning they lobby for causes that benefit the north instead of the south, like giving them South’s money, and sending large food or whatever “aid” to the north which sounds nice because ud think humanitarian aid to feed the starving but in practice it feeds northern military or is resold on to fund Kim’s regime/lifestyle. The pro north party also reduced/closed south’s military defense posts/personnel near the northern border, and even ceded part of southern territory, which is absolutely insane. Anyways even without all that, from looking at the presidential records in kr, I’d not fault this one for being paranoid
