What amazing carvers and there skills. However, you still make the BEST bears. They are so detailed and always have a cute face. Don’t ever stop. Oh ya, your owls are fantastic also.❤
Your carvings are getting more and more realistic! Wonderful work! I visited Chetwynd, BC a long time ago just after their chainsaw carving competition. If you ever get a chance to go there the entire town is covered in carvings from previous competitions. It's carvers heaven haha
I hope to be in that comatition some day a long long time from now haha! Definitely on my bucket list to visit! Im friends with a few of the carvers who compete every year, not only are they talented, but also wonderful people!
@ You're in for a real treat! It's worth it to take a full day and a camera and just walk the whole town to see the hundreds of sculptures they have displayed, its quite a site to see!
So cool! All that talent in one location and your bears stand out amongst the rest. Your bear looked real and the eyes have life in them. I'm sorry you had to sell that owl because it was so good. One of the best I have seen. But, you make them to sell so your art lives on and that's got to feel good. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.
Each creation that sells is what allows me to carry on creating, it's still sad when they go though! But it always makes me so happy to know my art will help make happy memories for other families ❤️
Great video I love to go see the carving event great work on the bear it looks very nice I love the video and the carved raptor it was so cool have a great day and happy holidays
Glad you got to an exhibition and so happy you showed others project carves. The imagination that goes with the talent is awesome. That skeleton cowboy knocks my socks off, heck if I’d have been there I know my pickup would be full to go home but I live in Mn. And am too old to drive a distance. Your black bear is very realistic and well done. One thing about your work it does stack up to any carver and your freind Josh does very good large bears.
Josh is the one who carved the skeleton cowboy and big ostrich! Jake carveg the bears, moose, and dragon! Bith are so talented and have their own unique styles. I probably only got footage of 1/4 of the Carvers who attended, the event is serious massive! 😳
Hi @taymarie! Looks like a nice event! I agree it's nice to connect with like-minded people that's why I share my artistic creations with you. When it comes to picking your favorite piece, do you ever get stuck with making a decision? Because that's me especially after watching this video! That moose was awesome! The raptor dinosaur was cool especially the color. Your bears and owls are cute! I love those. Some ideas for 2025: a blue whale if you can fit it in your truck or trailer! A flying fox fruit bat! Octopus? Ice Hockey goalie! Penguin! What do you think?
I have actually carved a few humpback whales! I had one in this video but I never got a good shot of it. You can see it better in the Shippensburg Competition video I posted a few months back! Love carving them!
Must have been fun to not have the pressure of competition and to be able to pick each other’s brains. I’m not sure if it was his originally, but I once heard Pete Townshend say that every artist is like a thief and a magpie. I know it’s true for me and without watching and listening to other artists I wouldn’t be half as good as I am. If that’s true, then you have been paying attention to some of the best! Love it!
There aren't many secrets in the chainsaw carving world, we all help and push each other and the boundaries of this art form. I learn best from taking inspiration from other carvers and working it into my own work. Theives and Magpies, I like that!
Right! So much beautiful work! It's my favorite event, I get so see all my carver friends and we all essentially get to carve together! Might even do a collaboration piece at the next one!
Great that you could share this, even if putting it together was time consuming! Now, when can we expect the promised video from your California road trip? 😉
No one watched my little travel videos so I decided to put my time into other things 🥲! But I have plans to video all my future travels for carving events!
... cool event ive been through there a few times and remember the 13% hill and hauling out of the Johnsonsburg Mill im interested in the area for sure and seeing what the elk are about-n-stuff ..?!! .. Thank you ..!
@TayMarie23 that dragon,.. man, I so thought you'd broke down and done one since you mentioned it the other day in that comment of always wanting to do one. I was so stoked..for like 20secs... Then I saw it wasn't yours. Lol.
That's why carvers love the Rendezvous! No pressure at all! You don't even have to carve if you don't want too, but you get a log with your entrance fee so most carvers just do a fun relaxed piece so they can spend time with the folks walking around and other carvers! I actually had no plans of fi fishing my bear, I was going to take it home to finish but plans changed lol!

It's so cool to see how everyone carves the same thing differently! I just love all the styles!
Looks like an absolute fun event to visit. Great job on the bear too. I love your work.
Thanks so much, it is a blast!
Wow! So many amazing carvers in one place. Great job on the bear!
I know right! It's a wild experience, even as a carver!

There were some truly amazing artists there! It's most carvers favorite event!
