This man is why above the rest of the world with his work and how he thinks you’re a lucky young lady to get a meet him and work with him take care both of you be safe
The creativity flows in every direction from this man. The tables are amazing and that machine is incredible. I also am one using the shim the box and router your back off method 😩. The hours you would save is crazy. Great content. Enjoyed the video 👍
Very cool video Jenna I am a long time fan of Scott he does incredible work. A true chainsaw Artist. I am very fortunate to have met him once. You are very fortunate to be able to work with such a talented and nice man as Scott Dow. Good on you and I am sure you will only get better working with him
I’ve know Scott since I was a kid from my parents and carving shows but it’s cool to be apart of the carving world as a carver now learning and building relationships with all them now. Scott a huge role model to all! Very thankful for our friendship 😊
damn that router crane is genius... ive got access to some industrial router sleds and milling tools, but nothing that can do free form work. That crane is perfect such a great demo and sharing of processes!
G'day, as a custom furniture maker for the past 16-years, I've definitely seen some amazing woodworking and carvings. However, these wood carvings are absolutely some of the most beautiful and intricate I've seen. Good onya mate. Cheers from Western Australia 🇦🇺 .
Everyone in the comments has it wrong. True talent isn't some mystical god given gift, everyone has talent locked inside of them. It just takes an extreme ammount of hard work to unlock it. I guarantee this guy has over 10,000 hours of deliberate practice to get where he is at. Nobody blessed him with talent, he worked his ass off to unlock it.

@@edsonrodrigues1713 I completely disagree, there isn't a human on planet earth that has ever had anything happen without any effort. I challenge you to name one person in all of human history that was able to do anything naturally without effort.
I'm very new to the art of word carving but I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Getting to work with one of the greats must have been an awesome experience, your enthusiasm during this was very contagious... Keep up the great work you have a subscriber in me for all your future work...
I think the best part was watching you team up and work side by side with each other. Scott really needs to get that router system patented - if he hasn't already
@chainsawjenna, what an amazing video! So Damn Cool! Such fascinating designs and intriguing carvings. Thanks so much for taking us along and for the amazing stories from Scott. Can't wait to see the end result.
I had to Google a slider turtle and low and behold it exists! It looks like a painter turtle to me with slight differences. Learn something new all the time.. thnx
Great video Jenna ! He does amazing work and is super cool . The Joe Rogan story was great also. Sorry Banjo wasn't having a great time . Can't wait to see that table finished.
Projects like this, as a collaboration or as an individual, with inputs from both customer and artist are a blast, and make for special memories. While working for a small specialty structure manufacturing company I made some scale models of projects to test and prove concepts. The salesman wanted a scale model for presentation and demonstration to potential clients, which had to be capable of transportation as luggage. Consequently this led to a whole other side of the business that none of use expected.
Scott seems like a great guy, his work is amazing! And thanks for sharing the anxiety of having to cut the table in half! I couldnt imagine having to do that!
Would be awesome to learn more about his process of drying/finishing these pieces and how they end up being displayed/installed if you get a chance to do another video with him! Ive always been curious if these end up being man cave centerpieces or actually functional bar tops or what. Super interesting stuff!
I wonder if he thought of putting a dehumidifier in there to help dry out the pieces or would that make it dry to fast and crack or something like that?
Good questions! I’m not super sure idk if the cracking would really be the same or not. Your right if it dries to fast it will split fast but idk with this wood type
Dogs scare you? Either you had a bad experience with a dog as a child or your parents never introduced you to dogs as pets when you were a child. And somehow I think it was the latter. Dogs are known as man's best friend for a reason. It's well documented that dogs save lives and protect people and property. Have you ever heard of a "Guard Cat"? Or a cat saving a drowning person? How about Police Felines (cats) Dogs are the best unless treated harshly, and even the nicest person will lash out towards someone harming them. Don't be afraid of Dogs. Once you achieve their love and loyalty then you'll find none better in the world.
haha I appreciate the comment, I love Dogs, I just got one, Banjo he's a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.. It's hard to hear in the video, but I'm referring to i'm scared to carve dogs, not dogs themselves. :)
@@chainsawjenna Oh, my bad. As you can tell I dearly love dogs. If raised from pups you will never find a more loyal friend. So I'm glad to hear that you're not afraid of dogs because that would be just sad.
It's Joe Rogan not Jesus... relax 😂😂 she's speaking about Rogan like she worships him 🙄 also, her interviewing skills need a lot of work. She interrupted him several times before he was finished saying his sentence or while answering her weird questions...definitely isn't good yet. Like everyone is saying in the comments about talent...not everyone has what it takes to do certain tasks and crafts...interviewing isn't your natural gift or strong suit...sorry...just keeping it all the way 💯 Shes awkward and seems uncomfortable and out of her element. Plus the interruptions and conversation setup seemed exte amateur... not at all... whatsoever like this is what you do .. 😬
I love it! Interview more great artists!
This video rocks! Scott is a beast of a carver and craftsman. Thanks for interviewing him and spotlighting his art!
It was an honor to carve and learn from him 😁
Scott is always so generous with his advice, always had such respect for him.
This man is why above the rest of the world with his work and how he thinks you’re a lucky young lady to get a meet him and work with him take care both of you be safe
Oh yes definitely cherished it! So thankful we finally got together. 😁🙌

if you enjoy it, it is of little effort.
@Ferrous_Bueller where is your mind bending talent that you have from hard work? Have a link?
I don't know but me personally can't paint or draw for shit. I can stay 10000hrs and I would be doing the same as before

Great video, That machine is awesome.Great story too.
Awesome video and love how Scott keeps designing new tools. Like that one better than hanging upside down from a forklift.

Just as I made a final decision to try and build a river style wood/epoxy table I see this. Damn it!!!!
Awesome craftsmanship brother wow !!

This kicks the $#1t out of those over-hyped and totally horrible epoxy river tables. 👍👍👍

Dust masks. Even when routing. I know. I don't wear mine enough either. Saying it out loud might help us all with breathing safety!
