The best part was when Jesus came out to play the drums
I was trying to think of something clever, then I saw this comment and just gave up. You win, James 😂
When Jesus took over those sticks 🤣🤣🤣
I thought Jesus dreads?
Jesus is now giving you sticks.
This deserves to be pinned.
You took a fake performance and turned into a real one. That is real talent. Officially a subscriber.
100%
It's not all fake. They are beating those drums! Both are real universities (schools) with actors mixed in. All the other universities in the movie were real as well.
Uh what?? The performance was never fake.
That wasn't fake ma dude research a bit, some cuts were but not the line
Wasn't a fake preformace ass
As a fellow long hair drummer, I approve of letting it out for the final run through. Well done.
I really love the editing here, where the movie is added to the corner and played at the appropriate speed to match with Chris playing along.
Yeah it looks great but takes 4 EVER to edit 😅 definitely worth it, but sometimes Chris plays at like 94.5% speed of the movie
@@ApexPercussion Well know that I see and appreciate the effort you're putting into it.
I agree this level of editing is well worth it! In the end and those that know anything about editing are going to be amazed!
@@ApexPercussion it’s appreciated, thanks!
The Atlanta A&T band is a High school band called Southwest DeKalb with Nick and the other actors mixed in, and Morris Brown is a real college and drum line and not just actors...
The cheeky smile during the head banging leading to the unexpected stick throw had me 😂👏🏽👏🏽
Honestly the best part is youtube randomly recommending these videos for me. All the drum line videos weren't disappointing! Watching the drum line was a nostalgia. Even though the last part 4 was mostly "fancy" movies, you made it funny to watch. Maybe ill pick up learning the drums after some inspiration from this
Not a drummer, even remotely, but I love hearing knowledgeable people demonstrate why faked movie moments irritate them. It tickles my schadenfreude, but is also fascinating and informative. Glad your following is growing!
What started as a random video of yours being thrown in my time-line and me going "WTF IS THIS!?!?" to now anticipating the next vids and watch almost all your channel weekly. You guys are amazing please keep up the great work you are doing. Now if you will excuse me I have to go dust off my old practice pad that I got from the Fergus Highland band over a decade ago and try to learn something new. Cheers All
23:01 the squeegee sounds on Nick's fake drumming had me ON THE FLOOR!!! 😂😂😂 Great job as usual, guys! Highly entertaining series 👏🏽🥁🏆
Never played drums in my life, but I just get so hyped watching there videos 🙈
Lovely break down.
When you're at the airport and have run out of things to talk about, "Who wants to do this stick trick right here?"
YOU ABSOLUTELY F'N NAILED EVERY SINGLE FINAL RUN ON ALL THE PARTS ITS IMPRESSIVE AS HELL WELL DONE!!!
My band director, in middle school, told me A&T lost, and i didn't believe her.
After years of learning more about music, she was right.
Thank you, Mrs Darrington!
how come they lost?
@@slimsauu389 from her telling me, the musicality and tightness of the line was so much more than the visuals.
Everyone had their purpose, on the line.
Looking at it, from a movie standpoint, gimme the show I'm in the bleachers for. I can see that, from the stands, and it's awesome.
But, from a player perspective... Yeah, I'm gonna need the sheet music from the line with the solo cups. Who wrote that swag down, and what notation did they use? Lol I want THAT. way more interesting.
Granted, A&T were high schoolers. If it were a college band doing that, though? Just imagine the difference in convo?
I'm ranting. They both did good, but if I put myself on the field, I want to play with the purple guys.
@@TremaineMcCants hahaha i feel you! & They weren’t high schoolers A&T was the college it was a college band 👀 so how does that change things
@@slimsauu389 to be honest, tech does so much more to me than bombastic flare. It's a setting, for me. On screen, give me the tech. Don't know if that is completely honest, of me, because Ohio dies insane half time shows, but I digress.
@@slimsauu389 the high school comment was to the actual players. Not the movie people. Were they not high schoolers, for real? Lol 🤣 I went years thinking that
Your amazing can’t wait for the real drum!! How haven’t y’all blown up yet
I'm a trumpet player. I haven't touched a drum since elementary school but this is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels to watch. Keep up the great work, fellas!
I haven't picked up sticks in well, lets just say over 25 years...and I'm ordering a stand and practice pad this week. Even if it's just to build up some chops with rudiments again. Thanks for the inspiration. This was a fun video series. I look forward to more.
On behalf of all of us who are watching this like my father in law watches football...watching because we love the athleticism and skill, but having ABSOLUTELY NO capability to do it ourselves...thank you for the dope content. (And thank you for the LRRLLRRL notations)
Partially showmanship and did you see the physicality of the bass and tenors. Not many can move those drums around like that... but this series I appreciate so much thank you
I could watch you all day long! Amazing talent! 💪🏼🔥🙀😍
Hi Chris and Jake... Great to see you in Nashville this week... I failed to tell you that I was the guy that supplied all the drums for this movie... I have some great stills from the movie... Great Job...
Hey Mike!! No way, that’s so cool!! We’ll have to come by and check them out the next time we’re up there! Thanks again for hanging with us for a few days!
@@ApexPercussion Stop by anytime... It was a great hang...
Honestly ever since I was little I always wanted to recreate all the performances for the movie and honestly seeing you do it and showing how to do it made me so happy and I’m so grateful that you did so. Now I can learn from these videos and finally recreate it how it should be. THANK YOU!!
Nick Cannon should give u Recognition himself for ur hard work n dedication for memorizing all four parts !! A job well done to u man.
I have never touched any kind of drum in my life but I click on these as soon as I can!
The ironic part is "nick cannon" can't read sheet music. You guys can read sheet music, but there is no sheet music. So really you are doing a "nick cannon" impersonation to the full effect when playing by just hearing and watching. *MIND BLOWN*
I didn't know Dave Grohl had a son that was incredibly clinically talented.
I've never drummed before I've never literally even sat down at any drum set in my life except I had this little kind of I don't know if it was a plastic snare or something when I was a little child. But even though I'm not a drummer I absolutely love this channel. I also love the interaction between both of you. And even though you mentioned twice in the video that you were going to let your hair down for that part , I still wasn't expecting it and literally erupted laughing. Like I was saying this channel is good for someone who doesn't even care about drumming very entertaining! It's actually🔥
Right?! I’m in the same boat, knowing nothing about drumming but these two are so entertaining!
This movie actually made me join the drum line in band and I played snare. Thank you for doing this! It’s been awesome after all these years to actually see someone break them down! Thank you!
i was waiting for this kind of video to come up for 100 years!
🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
I am not a drummer...I just love the movie. I don’t remember how I came across your channel, but I have watched all your Drum Line videos and I think they are terrific!
Great job working your way through that mess. As a past member of a drumline some of the things you pointed out really ruffled my sticks. Love all your content and hope that we can see your review and interpretation of some of the stuff in Drumline 2. Peace and love brothers.
Wait... There was a second drumline movie?
Yea. In my opinion it wasn't as good as the original, but not bad
FANTASTIC! My brother passed earlyish in life, but he was a grrrrreat drummer. I miss him and our music together......this was so great!
Love you both! PRACTICE EVERY DAY!🥁🥁🥁😘🙏🕊❤️💚❤️💚🎄⛄️
the relief of the completion of the scene is.. wow.
Can i just say thank you for bringing these videos to light. Drumline was my favorite movie as a baby. In fact i loved this movie so much that drum was my first word. So thank you for bringing back all those wonderful memories.
It’s really impressive how much you guys have developed and grown your channel since your first Drumline video. I don’t really know much about percussion outside of that movie but I’ll definitely watch any future content that you put out!
Amazing! This brought tears to my eyes to see you do all the different performances. Thank you for the entertainment.
Gotta luv HBCU marching bands and drumlines. Always fun to watch dci, pwi, corp folks analyze/mimic/critique hbcu bands and music.
This was incredible, music is my savior and watching this keeps my depression at bay I’m excited I’ve found these videos thank you so much!!! I can’t believe this video has a thumbs down!!! You’re insanely talented and I wish I was friends with y’all keep rocking and stay real!
“Sun’s Out, THIGHS OUT” 😂😂😂
#thighgang 💪🏾
Keep up the excellent work everyone 👍🏾
Omg !!! The MOMENT you threw the sticks I took a huge gasp for concern.... Then out comes sticks from no where ! Love that part !
I still don't know how I got here but these videos are very entertaining and I enjoy you guys learning every bit of this movie. especially when you're like "this seems right just do it" but to memorize all these parts in the movie is great. I actually enjoyed this movie a lot and they should make another one IMO. Keep up the great work. Much appreciated
The head bang with the hair down into new sticks was epic!!!!!!!
I found this channel being a music producer trying to get better knowledge from drum techniques, but what I found was so much more. I got suggested the drum line audition video and knew this was my type of shit lol. Two friends, breaking down one of my all time favorite movies(also nick cannons best movie but underclassmen is still fire) but making it acceptable to not only drummers but just enthusiasts of the craft and more. Then I started this series and was just amazed at the talent and dedication to this so I applaud both of you for doing this and keep more coming. Also don’t feel afraid to try other styles of videos cause it’s just a nice chemistry y’all got on camera.
I watch these with my husband and he finally had to ask me what all the “sounds” were that Chris is making. I had to explain that in drumming, your notes have sounds, one-e-and-a, equals da-duka-da-daa. Yeah... 😂😜
Lol
Clicked on this so fast! Not gonna lie all the fancy flips and twirls were my fave. Can’t wait for the actual drum
The TRUTH is Nick DID have a double that ACTUALLY is a drummer for the school and he ACTUALLY played the Cadences, AL of them with PRECISION AND CORRECT STICKING ON THE SNARE!
My 4 year old son literally LOL’d with the head banging Jesus hair. Keep up the good work. You are inspiring the next generation!
‘03 in Ga every show style Drum Line had one those cadences in the tuck.. Nostalgic
So glad you did all of these. Crazy how quick you learned the rhythms and sticking. Cant wait for more videos!
Yeah the whole thing is so dirty, you did a great job performing what could be understood Chris!
You do a great job of imitating to perfection. I enjoy watching you lead up to the finale.
Haha thanks!!
Koodos to both Leonard and Nick for doing this movie.... even the simple sticking was most likely complicated for two actors, who probably never played a snare drum before filming this.
You know all those times where little kids pretend to be crazy ninjas, and then proceed to wave their arms around super duper fast whilst also making cool sound effects with their mouths?
This is Atlanta A&T, except they aren't pretending to be ninjas.
My favorite set of videos hands down
I envy your hair bro, its the kind of hair + beard combo that I've wanted for so long. I only get to recreate that look via character creation in video games lol. I liked the part that you actually made sense into an otherwise very confusing camerawork in Drumline lol. More power and success to your channel, man! I've been watching since part 1/4 and I kind of want to start learning basics of what you're doing.
Can't wait to see snare Jesus play on that gorgeous Pearl drum! You guys are awesome!
Every video gets me more and more keen for when Chris and Jake bring out the drum. So glad I accidentally found this channel something like 3/4 months ago
..... you’re amazing bro. Period.
The fact that you did all four sequences and the solo from just watching them is so DOPE to me.
You’re a legend in my book. #Salute #RealMusician
Better than the last video, and better than before. Keep doing it. You're nailing this! Amazing job!
My favourite part so far is you explaining what a diddle is.
Such a clear and concise explanation.
Please do more of just explaining what some of the basic rudiments are.
I’ll subscribe to that!
Dude, as a guitar player, and knowing next to nothing about drumming; the movie Drumline was extremely wicked, man, and you watched it like once and nailed it! Have a good day, guys, that was cool
Thanks Christopher! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
*Cue somber music* I was almost waiting for the rain filter . You guys are awesome! Can't wait to see and hear the new snare drum in action!
This movie make me join a brass band and I'm so thankful that I watched the movie cuz brass band make my life better than ever
Lolol the head-bang is awesome!
The come up is real. It's been a pleasure watching since the start when subscriber totals were LOW. Something special about seeing a channel grow. Keep it up.
Me and my two sons watched from beginning to end and they were both really into you playing. Now they want to watch the movie and I hope it inspires them to learn and play drums as well. Thank you
Oh my gosh this is so wholesome, thank you so much! Hope they liked it!
I literally joined band in high school because of this movie and tried to replicated the “nick cannon, listening to & rehearsing 15mins of sheet music and movement to appreciate something I’d probably never watch and just watching this channel made me believe it was all worth it. Music is life 🖤
the surprises in the video were great. At first I thought you forgot about letting the hair fly, but then that happened and I was genuinely excited! As well as the stick drops and presentation of the wrapped sticks. Was great.
The fact that they even matched sticks....the detaiiiillll!!!!! :)
Your skill to do and learn dat In under 45 mins is increadible and jake has so much skill as well I’m so glad we have a jake cam and how can u hate any of them they have such good personalities #Apex percussion
This has quickly become one of my favorite series. Keep it up boss!
I'm not even a drummer but this channel is so compelling. So glad I'm subscribed
Yo you absolutely destroyed it !!!BRAVO!!!
We defiantly got the "Best of you" on this video.
Thanks for all the work you've done on this series.
I really Learned to Fly and enjoyed it Everlong.
You’re nastyyyyyyyy!!!🔥🔥🔥
I held my eyes open the entire time to catch every frame then teared up because of it
😂😂😂
7:20 am nothing better than waking up to some Drumline !
I know absolutely nothing about music, but y’all are so nice and entertaining! I really love watching the process and the fact that you’re so involved with your subscriber community - pretty rad! Wishing you all success! 😊
I love it 🔥🔥🔥🔥....thank you for your effort and recreation of the drum line battle. Plus it’s also my favorite movie of all time. Love from Nigeria🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬❣️
Yo thanks!! Much love to you!
I like how he really tries to get as exact as he can. Props!
Drumline was flawless period!
You are Awesome, the Best, I Love anything that you play!
Love the commitment of taping your sticks :)
I was in the band since 7th grade( I'm from a very small town called Thomasville, Ga, look us up) and when I say I was heavily into this video! I love this movie because of the band content, even though you hit the nail on the head with all the "fake"that was in the movie. kudos to you and your team!!!!
For some reason all the "make sure its right" moments do it for me
As a wind band kid loving this i cant wait to see the video with the actually sheet music.
The blue devils 2004 drum feature with the stick tricks was one I always wanted to learn but at the time could never figure out. You have a gift for learning all this by ear! Haha wish I had your talent. I would have made Pacific Crest the year before I aged out. One of my biggest regrets was not marching DCI before aging out at 21.
Watching your videos brings back a TON of nostalgia for me. I am happy to see so many young drummers in the comments asking questions too like why are diddles and what are hertas or egg beaters. I think an intro to rudiments playlist could be cool for people wanting to learn and practice individual rudiments as well!
At any rate, keep it up! Absolutely loving this channel!
Damn...now what? You are all done drumline... sub'd and excited to hear what is next
Loved it.... you did that. I know that movie very well you did a great job sir
That was awesome. I was not expecting the second pair of sticks and that mixed with the hair. 🤯🤯🤯🤯 That was my favorite part. Amazing videos, keep it up
Just very amazing. Love hearing and seeing it with such expertise. Gud stuff bro
Look at you getting funky w it!!!
🛑 STOP!! Scrolling for a second.. if you so happen to have stopped when you see this red stop sign! You are beautiful! You are caring! You give the shine in the room that no one else can even fathom to cover!!! You are strong! YOU. ARE......NOW!!!! #ThighGang!!! 👀....................#ThoseSticksAreMine btw... 😁
Wonder what his thought would be if Atlanta had done a completely clean run
Never played any type of percussion instrument and after the few weeks of watching your videos I have decided to buy a pad/sticks and learn. Thanks man 🤙🏽
I’d want to learn the stick trick.
Heck, I think that I can learn a LOT from you guys.
So glad to have found your channel.
Very talented young man.....great job
Totally nailed it. Hands down
I didn't know I needed Drum Jesus in my life...
I am so here for this video, #thighgang teasing the hair, working the sticks... Jake killing the emoji's, your normal A&T dissatisfaction, the joy!!So since the feet are behind the pay wall are you needing a pandemic pedicure 🤔? I swear the commentary 🤣 😂 i know is not supposed to sound how it does, but you are a whole muscle control sticking vibe this week 💪 😉 🤣🤣, I want those sticks and learn some tricks!
