    How to Make Art Yarn
    This is a video answer to question posted in my Fiber Art Collective group on FB. In this video I demonstrate how I make an art batt with focus on how and why I chose my colors and textures. This is the first video of two on making a specific art yarn.

    great video- thanks! love yr color/fiber choices too- may i ask - would it be possible to split the batt horizontally so as to get the art fibers on top and then add back the white layer underneath and then use it as a backgd for a felt "painting"- thanks! :)

      @UrbanGypZ  8 лет назад +2

      Thank you!! I don't see why not, however I feel like you would want your art fiber layers for felt to be even thinner. Felt seems to smash so much that I would want as much basic (and more inexpensive) fiber as possible making up the core of your piece, and have as thin as possible layers of the more expensive interesting stuff. I would almost leave the white out altogether, only card art fibers in a super thin cobweb like layer. I would even consider needle felting in place once base is produced to get even more control.

    I LOVE your sweater! What pattern did you use or did you free form it?

    • @UrbanGypZ
      @UrbanGypZ  7 лет назад +1

      Thank you! it is a pattern by by Cornila Tuttle Hamilton called Klaralund. It was in one of the Noro books she did for them. The book is out of print, but I do believe the pattern is available online now.

    What’s the easiest and cheapest tool to make art yarn?

    • @UrbanGypZ
      @UrbanGypZ  5 лет назад +1

      A drop spindle is the cheapest, but spinning wheel is easier IMO
