Hello All! I hope you are well and staying safe during this awful time. I filmed this video back in July 2019 (Before COVID-19) and I thought I would edit it up for you guys. I hope you enjoy! - Cameron

Well I’m a conservative white guy from Texas and in the past couple months I have found myself taking advice from a ant longing brit Vegan. Now if u would have told me that a year ago I would have laughed but now I am here to say I really enjoy your channel thanks for caring about ants!!!
nice your back after 8 months
Wow wish I saw this video sooner, nice catch of the lasius queen and that was some great footage fo the formica colony!
A few years back I came across a large probably 2 foot high 3 or 4 foot across mound of Formica rufa whilst out strolling in woods near Sevenoaks in Kent. There are also quite a few mounds I’ve discovered in woodland around South Devon. The closest I ever got to seeing live wood ants was in the large display they had in London Zoo insect house. As a kid in the 70s growing up in London the only ants I ever saw were common black ants and yellow meadow ants and the very occasional myrmica rubida. So the first time I saw wood ants in their natural environment was very exciting
Hope you'll get back recording man! U got some gains aswell!! Awesome
This is so cool! I've never seen a literal mound like that one! Wish I could get into some cool ants as well... might have to pull a colony out of my yard... very interesting!
i didnt even know ants could build things that big its epic
Stunning Formica nest!
Am soooo happy you made a new video very underated channel.
The ancient one has returned
Nice video!
Your so lucky with catching that first Queen. I mean i literaly coulis spend all Day trying to catch 1 Queen and then not get it
NV I’ve spent four years trying to even SEE a Queen ant and have failed I don’t think I’ll ever get one
@@cooljzw3206 Have you been looking at the right time? I don't know what country you're in, but certainly in the UK the time for nuptial flights is approaching soon so it's about to be prime time for finding queens. The best days to look are usually hot days right after there's been some rain. There's a website which is a database for nuptial flights too: antflights.com/
Popcorns out. Let's go baby~
Welcome back mate!
And its awsome that you have returned.
HE’S NOT BEEN EATEN BY ANTS HORRAY (I thought he was eaten alive by ants)
I will be there :)
We've got some of these formica in my area up north, but the mounds seem to stay small and because of where they are I've never been able catch a nuptial flight yet, I have started keeping test tubed on me through summer just in case though, because I feel they'd be an interesting species to keep
Where did you get the idea that there would be Camponotus in that forest?
Epic!
I like ants🐜🐜🐜
Yeah I saw the frog
you were lucky to find that toad. that species of toad only live in the UK and they're very endangered because of habitat loss. consider yourself lucky ;D
i love your videios
Aww u premiered on 3 am on my country
Oh man is the Lasius genus nuptile flight already surpassed in the uk?
15.30. I'd say they were formica rufa. Been working on uk sp.

18:00 that bottle on the floor... I'd take it with me. Not mine/yours but c'mon. Only bastards do that

Can you get solenopsis fugax in south of england but is rare? I found this on the internet but i dont know if its true though????
nice he wasn’t slaughtered by his ants
Looking to start my own ant colony, not sure whether to go on the hunt or buy a queen online. If I was to start my own colony and go hunting for a queen, where should I really be looking and at what time of the year shall I go?
i am here
hows your manica rubida
it is a toad
What part of new forest is this?
Hello
How are your ants doing since the ant tour still living?
Anyone have a spare queen with or without workers they can post to me?
I'm very late to the party but you must not collect the formica rufa species. This species is protected. I was disappointed when I learnt I couldn't legally keep this species as it is my favourite formica. Though in hindsight, I don't think it would be possible to facilitate the habitat of this species. Ants which live in trees or in the ground are easier to keep than ants which make such huge mounds. The tank size would be huge and the number of ants would be staggering. But hey maybe someone out there has the space.
I really want to get a red wood ant queen if anyone knows where I can get one ? Thank you .
See if there is one for sale in your area on global ant nursery
In Germany there are so rare.
Where can I buy black crazy ants in the uk to start a colony ?
Sorry but they aren't native to the UK so you won't be able to get them legally :(
Why not look for camponotus sp. in those rotten woods
no campo in uk
@@eesar4032 there is I've seen a colony in the local woods but their extremely rare😎
