Also, I wonder how safe these isopods will be with the carpenter ants. From past videos ants seem pretty good about leaving the springtails alone, but given how we saw one ant attack an isopod here, I worry the ants could take them down by working in groups, attacking the legs.
I believe the isopods will be safe. Once the ants get used to their smell and they start smelling like the nest and surroundings, they will leave them alone. I once broke into a carpenter ant nest in a log and saw a tonne of isopods living with them.

The isopodium went from garden to compost real quick
As I was baking Christmas Cookies and watching this episode I caught a graphic on screen out of the corner of my eye. I took a look at the screen and said, "Hey, I play that game." Then I thought to myself, "I know I seen an anthill named AntsCanada while I was out scouting for resources one day while playing". Does this Ant Hill belong to you? If so welcome to The Ants Underground Kingdom. Welcome and enjoy your time playing with all of us. Looking forward to the next episode. Thank you for all you do.
I'm almost certain only soaking half of these pieces of wood and then having the soaked half on top, would help the mold issue
Poor cute lil ants. If I was tiny I'd give them hugs
Isopod: hi there!
Ant: Who tf are you?!
My son loves ants so I started researching having a colony and I found your channel. Decided it is not for me, as he’s too young to have pets od his own, but now I can’t stop watching. So interesting.
Looks like they were auditioning to be on ‘Fool Us’ with Penn & Teller!
I'M LITERALLY PLAYING THE ANTS:UNDERGOUND KINGDOM, 3 MONTHS ALREADY.
this is a super nice game, and i'm at level 20 queen ant already.. evryone who loves ants should try..
p.s. sorry for shouting, just got xcited.. lmao
When my dog was a puppy we named her Rollie pollie because when she tried to walk she would just roll over cuz she was so chubby it was cute.
This is not a good nature channel this is the very best channel in the entire Internet
You're very right :)
I've never seen a more perfect fit for a sponsorship in a video in my life, hahahaha.
Great episode, as always! :)
Is that an little ant crawling in the wood 12:57
What about the AC Nucleus? That also might be helpful in introducing more clean up crew creatures
I love your channel and apparently I'm learning a lot from you. Even before you said it I thought you could put in isopods. I'm a 55 year old woman who has been out of school for a LONG time. However, I believe that channels like yours continues education.
I felt like since the isopods are replaceable Mike doesn't seem too concern even if the isopod and springtime are eaten up
idea: make a box and fill the box with a lot of things like food water and everything that an ant wants and then get one or two ants then place them in the box for 24 hours or 12 hours
there's a little ant at 12:53 top left
Maybe letting the nest without the red filter would be good for fungus control until the collembola can keep it tidy
AC! i saw a small ant trying to hide! u can see it moving at 12:59 in the video! im not kidding!
I'm sure I'm not the first person to say this but way down from Canada in the Appalachian mountains, carpenter anta almost always choose to live in locust trees
At 12:54 you can see a small ant queen of a different species crawling above the corner of the nest tunnel
“I know in time theyll become friends ”
Isopod franticly running for its life after having its back bitten and acid eating away at it as three ants run after it
The ACU(Ants Canada Universe) is far more extravagant and cool than the MCU(Marvel Cinematic Universe)
My pheidole ant Colony is gone missing as well today Antcanada you make my day better 💚
when AC say “when in doubt i saw this” you already know its gonna be crazy
"The ant sprayed formic acid at the isopod and proceeded to bite it, which eventually sent the isopod off running. I knew in time, they'd get to be friend." Few hours later ant eat isopod
Did anyone else notice the small ant queen hiding in the wood at 13:02?
The one ant attacking the isopod is like attacking your apartment’s maintenance man thinking he was a burglar
8:50 YES!! I was wondering when he would get sponsored by them. It's a really fun alliance based game
