Can we take a moment to appreciate how gosh-darn cute Dedede is? He’s a chubby penguin(?) with a robe, and a puffball hat, and he has a Boston accent in Right Back at Ya. Plus, the way the moves and attacks is adorable imo.
Seeing Dedede pick up an axe in Triple Deluxe was a sure sign that things were about to get darker. His normal weapon, after all, is a hammer - not especially effective against something soft and squishy like Kirby. Sure, it can hurt, but in cartoons, blunt trauma is almost always survivable. An axe, however, is never lighthearted. It is brutality incarnate - axe murderers are considered the most brutal of all murderers; the dreaded headsman executed the convicted; even the term "hatchet man" is someone who carries out work that is disagreeable, if not outright heinous. When an axe comes out, the danger becomes truly threatening.
Remember, he was essentially just a puppet in triple deluxe so he had no control over his own actions… honestly should’ve been excluded considering how often the poor guy gets possessed or copied!!!

I gotta say, 11:00 (Masked Dedede) is my absolute favorite rendition of King Dedede's theme, and I absolutely LOVE when other games bring in the Masked variant of Dedede's theme.
When I first saw King DeDeDe, I thought he kind of resembled Pilaf from Dragon Ball with his clothing, but Pilaf wishes he could be as cool as the King of PopStar.

For this theme , it is one of my best and one of the epic boss battle themes (especially Masked Dedede themes) in the series , it first appeared as a ‘shorter’ theme in Kirby’s Dream Land and extend it to a ‘full’ version in Kirby Super Star. The track ‘Dedede’s Tridimensional Cannon’ from Kirby Planet Robobot is reused in Kirby Star Allies.
