'I can enjoy a $10 watch just as much as a $100,000 watch' - that's exactly what it should really be about, no snobbery just pure enthusiasm and enjoyment.
Glad to have several of both & enjoy them thoroughly!
Also coming from someone who designs these watches saying that should mean a lot
Same here but most watch collectors don't see the joy's of owning a watch that is not so expensive i enjoy them more then the expensive ones I have honestly
Call me snobbish, but most of my watches are over 10,000¢

@@theurbangentry its a great channel, i just found it yesterday. No offense but i think of you as richard hammond for watches after seeing several of your vids lol.

This channel is the reason I recently got into watches, partly because of your snob-free attitude towards affordable watches, quartz, etc. I started my collection with a Casio Royale and I am loving it immensely. Will get a Seiko 5 in the near future as my first mechanical watch. Thanks for making legitimately great content and sharing the hobby rather than gatekeep it like so many do.
The same when it comes to being interested in owning multiple watches.
That's awesome to hear! This channel is how I found the watch community on RUclips. Man am I greatful, you couldn't ask for a better entry than the Gentry. Not hating other channels but I think the attitude and 'watch philosophy' here is so joyful and inclusive of enthusiasts with any budget and any kind! Very positive so it's good you got to see this side of the community right away.

I recently started to get into watches, at the time i was considering a fashion watch. But then i discoverd your videos. The biggest reason why im into watches now is honestly seeing your video of why dw is not a good beginners watch. It made me rethink and really dig into watches more than i ever did before. I just wanted to thank you for truly introducing me to real watches!
Sounds like my start, TGV save me from buying a MVMT and turned me on to the seiko 5 range! The guy is pure class
Good for you! I'd stay far far away from DW and MVMT. I myself almost bought MVMT before. Could've gotten the same thing with a $15 Chinese watch.
Agreed, cant wait to build a collection of my own
@@ronch550 Yeah that is crazy of putting, do you have any better recomendations for a newbie watch collector?
@@Andreas-po2oc depends on your budget. And as someone who loves watches I like both automatics and quartz, both digital and analog, both dress watches and sporty watches (and those in between), both established names and newcomers. What I'm saying is, go out there and see what you like, be versatile. Don't be a watch snob or else TGV will prescribe you the remedy for that grave ailment. As he said, there's a difference between a watch enthusiast and a watch snob. The guy has influenced my thinking with regards to watches in no small way, and though I don't always watch his videos, I see him as a mentor.

Kevin Wong that’s how it started for me as well. All the best. May you wear it in good health!
Kevin Wong My belief is that it is the perfect watch if you were to just have one. Not the path I have taken myself 😂 but I commend you sir

I'm surprised at the lack of a Grand Seiko!
I am too, to be honest. Ok, fess up TGV.

The Urban Gentry just like George Constanza!
TGV: That collection screams...we need an Oris.
It was Hugo who gifted you the AP, wasn’t it?
This is a presentation of by far the most intereresting watch collections I've ever seen with a proper description of why each watch exists in the collection. So great. AF
I’m a six watch collector by design. I love vintage and dress watches like fine art but I have zero desire to own any. I enjoy them tremendously especially when curated. I’m a diver guy: 100%. As much of a watch geek I am, what I love to see & read about is vastly different from what I spend money on. The urban Gentry! He’s the GOAT!!!
Love that the Explorer remains in the collection and still as the favorite. Just a masterpiece of simplicity, practicality and class
I’ve always been into watches but I never knew what I liked or what was out there. I did have a few mvmt watches but then I discovered your channel. Which I love. I recently bought my brother a Timex Weekender after he kept borrowing mine. I then got myself a Seiko 5 Sport which I love thanks for helping me discover more about watches and horology.
11:42 "one of the most honest watches" I loved that. Field watches were what started it all for me because of that.
I have to say, TGV, your video quality is amazing.
Music, transitions, zoom-ins, slight slow motions, segments, nothing is dragged out, just the perfect ammount.
My hat is off to you.
I really like the fact that you always keep the F-91W in your collection! I have to confess that you're in no small measure responsible for making me decide on buying one these little digital watches, which I now love and use almost everyday when I'm home, on weekends, on vacation, etc. It's a wonderful watch for the summer!
José Andrade
The lightblue is a very nice summer watch.
Beautiful collection as always TGV! Hope to one day have an extraordinary collection like yours once I'm done with college.
I only have Speedmaster Moonwatch brown dial on a NATO strap and I’m in love with it.
I bought my first watch 2 years ago at 16 which is a casio edifice EQB-501BD-2A. I wore it every day and it is now well loved with a wildly scratched steel band. I recently ignited my dormant love for watches again by going to my first watch shop and having my first proper AD experience which was amazing. I bought a tissot gentleman with a blue dial and a few days later a heritage visodate with a black dial out of excitement for getting back into watches. I can't wait to keep building my collection and learning more about the hobby through great channels and people like you, thank you for creating a great place to receive positive advice and knowledge to new watch collectors.
"...just brings me joy just to look at it..." I would say that captures the essence of collecting. I can't go where you go in collecting, but your vids are a source of continuing delight. Cheers and thanks.
At 20:52 "Don't really wear; Love it as an object of design". So true but that's how large collections happen. The evolution of the collection makes good sense but
I miss the 36mm blue sub.
Guess I'm not going to bed ! Let's see what's changed!
Such a cool collection. Love how the way you've got small mini-collection within the collection such as the war watches. Really cool way of incorporating the history of horology to watch collecting!
Great video! Started watching your channel about a year ago and it reinvigorated my love of watches. My current collection: my fathers automatic steal square dial Girard Perregaux, gold hand wind Tissot pocket watch given to me by my wife on our 20th, modded Seiko SKX with Batman bezel and sapphire crystal (thanks Long Island Watches), Seiko SBDC051, Seiko SARX035, Seiko SARB033, Orient Polaris GMT (I’m a bit of a Japan-ophile), 2 Times Weekenders that my wife wears most of the time. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Enjoying the vids. I like how your not “too good” to praise cheaper watches. A lot of good quality stuff out there besides Rolex and ap’s
Okay, here we go (deep breath)
-Seiko SKX031
-Seiko SKX009 with sapphire bezel and strapcode bracelet
-Seiko SNJ025P1 "Arnie" (2019 Re-issue)
-Wired (Seiko) AGAM 403
-Casio G-Shock (can't remember ref)
-Casio World Time aka "Casio Royale"
-Vintage Certina 36mm dress watch (Was given to my grandfather on his 30th birthday)
-Vintage Roamer (Retirement gift to my great grandfather back in 1975)
-Omega Seamaster Quartz 35mm from 1981 (Also my grandfathers watch)
-Omega Seamaster 36mm Vintage manual wind from 1958
-Rolex Explorer 14270
-Gruen dress watch 34mm (from the mid 50's?)
+ a bunch of pocket watches of unknown origin.
And here I am with my invictas and tissots!!! Man what a collection you have, but it is a a show of your hard work and dedication to your career and to the channel. Every watch tells a story and your collection tells the story of The Urban Gentry.

I love your channel man !!! I only have two Gshocks now and I will buy my first Seiko 5 very soon, to start my own collection. You have helped me revive an old dream of mine! Thank you so much!

Just wanted to say I've been a fan of yours for a couple years now, just watched this episode last night on my big TV with surround sound setup. Your production value has gone through the roof since I started watching, bravo! Great collection, glad to hear that you're actively thinning it down. I know we all love to collect watches like mad, but there's something really healthy about making sacrifices and learning to live with less. Also, that early Seiko Flightmaster is just gorgeous. I have the gold-plated version of the newer one in my collection and love it, but now I kind of want to find its ancestor! Anyway, keep on doing what you do, your knowledge, passion and sense of humility when it comes to watches is a very refreshing thing to see these days. Cheers!
So glad you showed the Dan Henry. I believe I will be picking up one of those very soon ! Great video and thank you for all the knowledge !
I have an honest collection of watches, but my most precious being a 1963 Tudor Royal which belonged to my great grandfather who received it for working for 25 years in the dock yards in Newcastle
I noticed the Mandy poster in the background, watched it recently for the second time, what an experience. Can't wait for Cosmatos' next film, whenever that will be. Nice watch collection TGV, ciao.
Larry Tipson probably In 2039 but it will be an awesome film.
I didn’t take you for a fan of Mandy, tgv
There is something incredibly likeable about this channel! Just getting into the watch thing. Thanks for the great content!

Well, my Sinn 104 isn't going anywhere...😄
SOTC: Omega Seamaster SMPc (41mm, black lacquer dial), Tag Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 (43mm, non-skeleton dial).
I just got the Sarb033 yesterday and it is also my first Seiko. And I LOVE IT!!!! Thank you TGV for introducing me to such an amazing watch!
Wait all year for these! It's crazy how much your collection has changed over the years. The flighty has remained a staple! Always enjoy these and hope you're well my friend :)
I cannot wait for my SEIKO SRP779 Pepsi Turtle. Although I love the Rolex Datejust 36 as my everyday watch, nothing to me comes close to SEIKO in terms of affordable built-for-task! 💪🙏
My collection is currently:
Tag Heuer Carrera Rose Gold absolute keeper. Not necessarily the most impressive watch but I got it as a gift when i graduated high school and it was what started my love of watches. Wore it everyday for about 4 years
Seiko Padi Turtle - My diver i wear most often hate the term "beater" but it gets that kind of workload
Seiko Monster 2019 version with blue dial on a bracelet (keeper gift from gf)
Heuer Autavia with the heuer02 movement. my first luxury piece i purchased. Want to say keeper but who knows
Will Das Neves my collection:swatch day date😂😂😂
I love these ‘state of the collection’ conversations. It’s nice to hear from other people that they made a mistake by rushing to “tick a box” on a chronograph or something that they were supposed to have. We’ve all been there.
What a lovely and refind collection! That AP dress watch...love it! :)
New to this really but here's mine :)
My great grandfathers omega I have the receipt to and was bought in 1950, 15 jewel hand wind. 2 Swiss ones that were my granddad's a Lanco and a Damas (whatever they are). Swatch sistem 51 Irony the fleiger one, little gold Casio, a Casio royale that I've modded, a gshock mudman and a gulfmaster, my other granddad's Timex and a gold accurist on a flexi strap thing that rips out arm hairs :)
Mostly sentimental stuff, I'm looking at a Seiko next either a samurai or an skx007 or a flightmaster all depends on how long I'm willing to save money for. Love the videos learnt a lot from you dude
The first AP with the moonphase is the most beautiful watch I've seen the whole year.
i just bought me a rotary windsor day date and it looks really really similar and i am so happy now haha
A friend of mine introduced me to watches and said you're the guy to watch... He didn't lie!
My watch collection that I absolutely love :
- Seiko SK009K
- Casio World Time Illuminator
- Oris Big Crown Pointer Date
I have always worn a watch, but they never really intrigued me until now. You sir have sparked my fascination/collection with watches. Im 18 and my parents think im crazy for spending almost $2000 on an older OMEGA Speedmaster Automatic. The dial has the perfect amount of patina which I LOVE! I explained to them that the watch makes me very happy and proud. Took me all summer to buy that watch, and it's worth more than my car 😁.
I can't believe that you sold your blue Navitimer and your Sub.. I'd thought that you would never sell those.
Carlos Cerritos agreed. Really caught me off guard
i’m shocked
You got to do what you got to do when you're broke.
Yeah... crazy :-/
George Jung but he isn’t...
It is interesting that you mention maybe getting an FP Journe watch. I have wanted one for a few years after visiting their shop in Paris. What beautiful, functional pieces of wrist art. And the people at the shop were very nice to me despite the fact that I told them I was just looking at the moment. I went to the JLC shop as well and tried the Master Control moonphase and couldn't get over how perfectly sized and understated it was. I ended up adding a red dial Reverso Tribute to 1931 to the collection. Such a surprise. Have fun looking!
--Michael
And currently my collection consists of 3 watches:
1. Rolex Datejust 36mm smooth bezel/black dial (latest model). My daily do anything watch.
2. Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute to 1931 Ultra Thin Black Dial. Simple and elegant.
3. Jaeger-LeCoultre Tribute to 1931 Red Dial (current model). Latest edition. I love the dial so much. What an amazing red leather strap as well. I have gone down the Reverso rabbit hole.
My biggest realization in the last few years of collecting is that I prefer smaller, thinner watches. I have an 8" wrist but I feel the larger sizes just don't wear well for me. Strange but true. The Rolex Explorer 36mm is the watch that made me realize that. But I wanted a date and the new 72 hour power reserve parachrome hairspring movement so I sold my Explorer and other watches and bought it. No regrets. The DJ is it for me in terms of form and function. I put it on the NATO when I travel and it looks like a Timex. Haha. Thanks for sharing your collection. It is fascinating to see tastes change and meander. Love it. That is my favorite part of the hobby!
Take care, brother.

Your the best watch reviewer ! I love your distinctive casual style! It feels like I'm just hanging out with you in my house!
You have an amazing, versatile, and unique collection, you inspire me. I bought a vintage Hamilton when I saw your old Hamilton video and I've bought and sold few pieces since. Now I have a very small collection of vintage military watches. Recently I got a vintage British military CWC watch to celebrate my move to London. I learned a lot from you and I was able to shape a themed watch collection thanks to your video!
My single favorite watch in your collection is that little Omega spitfire. I’ve watched your video on it over and over. It might be too beautiful (somehow)! There is a brand called Smiths that makes a homage and I’m very tempted.
My current collection:
Lorier Neptune
Dan Henry Gran Turismo 1964
Timex Marlin Hand Wound movement
Seiko SNXS77
Casio A158WEA-1EF
Excellent collection!
I have no idea how to define your style. But I love these vids! It's a lecture from an awesome teacher.
Superlative collection TGV, have been enjoying your channel for years now and happy to be a subscriber. Please do keep up the fantastic time & effort that you put into your vids. Students of horology all over the world unite here!
Id keep the Aston back and use the Maserati in a Giveaway. That simple AP two handed dress watch is superb.
Agreed. But Im a sucker for a nicely finished stainless steel dial.
Top 5 affordable watches I would like to buy:
Lorier Falcon
Borealis Adraga
Orient Kamasu (dark green)
Smiths Everest PRS-25 (36 mm)
Seiko Sarb033
Top 5 Grail Watches:
Omega Seamaster Railmaster
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m
Rolex Explorer 1016
Sinn 556 b
Tudor Black Bay 58
I lost interest in Omega ever since they tried to associate their brand with RUclipsr PewDiePie
Have the kamasu in dark green and has been my favorite watch for the last 6 months. The red variant still makes me wonder though as they nailed it.
1 year ago I had 1 watch now i have 11 - most of the watches I have are homage watches and most of your favorite watches are my least favorite watches but I appreciate everything I learned from you about watches - absolutely love this channel
Amazing collection TGV, you have certainly inspired me in horological decisions in the last 2 years so thank you.
My small, but growing, collection.
- Bulova Marine Star (98B104)
- Tudor Black Bay Red (79230R)
- Tudor Black Bay "Harrods Edition" (79230G)
My wife bought me a Bulova Marine Star. it's not one i would have bought for myself but she complains that all of my watches look the same, and she's right. So she usually buys me more fashion type watches which is fine by me. The thing about the Marine Star is it looks like a Hublot or AP Royal oak from a distance. my niece wanted to buy one for her boyfriend and i told her it was an AP Royal oak. when she looked up the price she almost passed out. i had to clue her in later in the evening that it was a Bulova.
Kristofer Rose you got a Harrods Tudor? Would you like to sell it?
@@luigisavoia2401 I wouldn't buy something like a Marine Star again. I bought it for myself for my 21st birthday just as I was getting into watches a few years ago. I liked it because it reminded me of a Hublot or an AP Royal Oak, but for a much more reasonable price...
@@lewisjones3345 I have indeed got a Harrods Tudor - I have a few pictures on my instagram - LifeofKBR. I have no plans of selling it.
Kristofer Rose COOL
Watches are such a strange addiction...
I bought my first Citizen eco drive and thought nothing of it. Bought my first automatic (Orient Bambino V4) and since then I've gone from 2 to 7 watches in the space of 2 year.
My best piece is a tie between my Orient Polaris and Victorinox Alliance (circa 2011)
couldn’t agree with this more. i dont know for the life of me why i keep buying stupid watches.
Years pass and I still love that show! Thank You TGV
The lume on that Catalina is insane. I love it. In fact, I love the entire watch. Also, that Den Henry with the Seiko Mecho-quartz movement is a bargain. Thanks, I enjoyed the review of your watches.
I can say that listening to you has made me a watch enthusiast
Among ur collection if something i cud desire of is that vintage Omega, it's too hot !
Enjoy your chronograph watches while you can. In about 10 years as your near vision fades, you will come to appreciate fewer complications. Great collection TGV.

SOTC: Seiko Starlight
Honestly? It's the perfect watch, what can I say? Will buy a Stowa Flieger and a Hamilton Murph in the future, but right now the Starlight is enough.
I’ve only watched 7 minutes so far, but I’m so surprised! I did not expect those moves with the collection. The Sinn is such a surprise!
Stunning collection full of good taste and sentimentality. Thanks as always for sharing and giving me inspiration! Cheers from Colorado!
I love your room
Is that big ass HAMILTON khaki on the wall? 😍
I’m sad that the Stowa maritime has gone,, particularly as I got one for a significant birthday after your glowing review. Mine is never leaving though! If you’re not wearing it, then understand. The other possibility was the Sinn 104, which you’ve also sold! Surprised that they’re no German watches in your collection now. I hear the point about ticking a box; we have all done that. But what a box though!
Totally agree with TGV about the Lorier Neptune gilt, so glad I went for this watch after seeing his review. Love the vintage styling and yet to meet anyone wearing the same, so it always feels special on my wrist.
I always wanted a skx009J2 ever since I was about 14 or 15. I wasn't really into watches so I kind of forgot about. However, most recently I have a couple of buddies that are car enthusiasts and watch enthusiasts. Well, if it weren't for them I wouldn't have got into watches. I never found out the name of the SKX until I stumbled upon your channel, which influenced me to finally buy my skx009J2. Thank you Ubran Gentry!
I have a collection of Invictas with Garfield on the dial, get on my level TGV. I jest, obviously.
I saw their Star Wars watched and they're pretty kick-ass. Not for me though, because they're too big and getting them outside the US could be tricky and costly. I really like their Pro Diver watches though, which I have two of and really love.
Imagine having a watch collection so big you shoot a video that is 40 minutes long just to make a “Casual overview”
Love your channel TGV. Watched it for a few years now. You inspired me to get the Seiko SKX009 & Sinn 104, which I recently swapped out for a Tudor GMT. Best wishes for 2020 and beyond, my friend.
I can’t get tired of this channel, in witch the refinement and development of the spirit is the foremost
Indeed! Any time I need to feel better I just watch one of TGV's videos or look at the Breitling web site. 🤗🤗🤗
