Alpine green was actually available on both the RG and SG last year… I looked at both and bought the RG. Beautiful color and I’ve yet to see another model on the road. Guess it wasn’t a big seller because it’s not available on the 25’s… but it’s cool… I like being unique. Wife’s favorite color so that went a long way in the purchase decision. 😂
I bought a 21 road glide hoping I'd have friends to ride with but in Wyoming I was pretty much solo and had more fun riding around the county. I realized I love ripping around town and having conversations. I'm without a doubt trading in for a softail. Baggers have their Audience but I learned I'm a street rider. Live n learn
Great run down Matt. Bought a 2024 Whiskey Fire/Chrome RG in Oct. 3 months later, it’s an extra $2000 for base model plus $1350 for blk trim plus $2900 for Whiskey Firestorm. That’s $6250 for an extra mid color, flake, and ghost flames. Ballsy in the current economic climate. We’ll see how this shakes out for hd.
I think Harley is going to have a rough year. New colors are ok. Dealers are packed with 2024s and they think a price increase is going to help sales? Rev max bikes are dead. I doubt many dealers will bother. I can get a one year old pan America for around $11k with almost no miles private sale. They desperately need to bring back the real sportster to get more people in the doors.
It will be interesting. A lot of Motorcycle manufacturers are having a rough patch. Ducati just filed for bankruptcy car dealers have tons of cars on the lots. I think a lot of manufacturers over forecasted based on demand of covid and the demand has tapered off significantly. I think a production correction will go a long way.
@@MattLaidlaw love your content and what you did with your CVO ST. I just bought a CVO Road Glide in the Copperhead color. I also own a late model Ducati Multistrada V4S and love it. I knew KTM is in deep doo doo but I hadn’t heard of Ducati being in financial trouble.
As a Road King Special owner I may be based. I still think they missed an opportunity by not doing a little something for the RK’s 40th. Glad it’s hanging around in some form at least another year. Street Glide Standard in 2022 had an MSRP of $23k and the 2025 Street Glide has an MSRP of $27,750 so that's more like a 17% increase, not 40%. And the 2025 is WAY more bike for the money with the new infotainment, 117, center cooled, etc.

AWESOME video Matt!! Love the Mystic Shift color !! That is really awesome how it fades. Absolutely love your channel. You put out some awesome content. The riding videos you post when you take either your family or your coworkers on a journey every now and then is absolutely awesome!! The new segment " Out The Door Friday " is really cool. I have been following your channel for a while now and it just keeps getting better. Not many dealership in my area at least do what you do, as far as show you the TRUE price of a new or used bike. One of my favorite videos, is the one you made about the Fat Boy. Not just because I own one lol, but the Fat Boy is a bad ass machine. Looking forward to the new reveal on the 23rd. I hope they do something for the Road King and Fat Boy also. For the Fat Boy, I wish H-D would pay respect to the original, the 1990 , Grey Ghost. Not what they did for the 30th anniversary, but make one with the same grey paint and yellow trim . But that's just my opinion. Anyway, keep up the great work that you do and always ride safe 💯🤘🏻🇺🇸
I went shopping for a 21-22 touring and wound up taking home a 24 Street Glide with a few thousand miles on it - the 2024 was that much better all around!
As a softail fan, I can’t wait to see what they’re changing up this year on those bikes. Super stoked for all the softail reviews from you this year Matt!
A $2,900.00 Upcharge for paint My 2016 Yamaha FZ-07 was $7,400.00 on the road, all taxes and title. The Problem with HD & Indian are that their biggest shareholders are Black Rock and Vanguard. The same goes for Coca-Cola and Pepsi. There is not a lot of real competition when so many brands have the same owners.
Agree, in 2019 a Moto Guzzi v85tt in UK was £11099 on the road, 6 years later the same bike with usefull upgrades is £11500 on the Road, they are built in Italy with high European overheads, I use the V85tt as a direct comparison to M8 softail and touring Harleys as the development level is similar. Harleys have gone up Over 40% in same time, definitely ripping off customers.
@@MrDoyle07 I bought a new 2016 in 2017. It was $400 less than the 2017 and $800 less than a 2017 with ABS in Michigan sales Tax was 6% The MT-07 is much more than that in 2024 What Motorcycle do you consider to be Junk? Do you think a Harley is better because they cost $25,000.00 ?
@checker3694 In 2017 a model year 2018 Street Bob 107 started at $14,499. The 2024 Softail Standard 107 starts at $14,999. That's $500 over 6 years. That's less than a 3.5% increase. That's under the rate of inflation. Compared the base 2019 Electra Glide at $18,999 to the 2025 Street Glide. You have added 10 cubic inches of power, water cooled heads, anti-lock brakes, traction control, top tier infotainment, upgraded suspension, 2 up seating and 6 years of 3%+ inflation. For me that's reasonable for the extra $8,750.
@@mikeskidmore6754I already answered your question which you suggested an answer for. My Hondas and Yamahas were ok for a couple of years then they proceeded to dissolve themselves. My Harleys costed a bit more and they’re 1-25 years old and as solid old as they were new. There are endless ways to personalize them, they shed satisfaction of ownership onto me like a shower, I can sell them and or trade them for far more value than any Honda or Yamaha, and they are an in public phenomena. People actually go out of their way to tell me they live my bikes. It’s just awesome. Yep, to poor to buy junk. I like value.

We can't sell em so lets raise the price more so even more don't sell. They all piss me off but the Road King Special in particular pisses me off with pricepoint the most. It'll never happen for me. $18k new 5 years ago, now its $26k for a more stripped down version and it doesn't even have a usb port. C'mon are they serious!?
They are still a lower price when compared to the prices in the years before 2024. The FLHRXS was never 18k the FLHR was like 10 years ago but we have this thing called inflation. The prices are very competitive with this class of motorcycles. I do think the Road King Special should be priced 2k less.
Harley is just pricing themselves out of existence at this point. One of the dealers near me still have 2023 touring models sitting on the floor. Their build quality has also gone downhill greatly. I have owned a few harleys and they all had their quirks. After the front exhaust cam bearing seized up my sportster and bent the pushrods, broke the case, and did other damage, I'm done with Harley for now. I have also seen way to many M8's have oil issues or other issues like the oil jets not tightened down correctly. I might by a harley again someday, but it will never be a primary bike again.
Matt great video. With new 2025 SG and RG coming out with higher price increases and dealers having a ton of new 2024 SG and RG leftovers they will be dealing and a great opportunity to pick up a new 2024 HD motorcycle. I purchased a new 2023 HD Freewheeler in September of 2024 with the RG3 wheels with $10,000 off and 3.99% financing. The deals are out there just need to look.
Just looking on the Australian website and we seem to have some different options and drastically different pricing for the pain options. And when you go into the finance/bike builder section there are different options again like a chrome RG with whisky fire. And we have the Alpine Green this year too.
I am not the typical buyer but I absolutely love the FLHRSX. If you can do your own work or your flush with cash you can make your own “CVO Road King” Bump up Drivetrain, Clutch, Lowrider ST Fairing, Good Exhaust and you have an asphalt eating machine that is (almost) all Harley factory parts.
I think it‘s pretty easy to guess how they will spread out the release of the new bodystyle: 23 came the CVOs, 24 came the SG & RG, 25 will come the Ultras, 26 probably the Road King and 27 the Trikes. Maybe they start again with 25.5 CVO Road King or Trike to get the high dollar sales first.
I wish the road king had more love... the new 122 motor, updated electronics, etc. Hell, I got my 2020 RKS and I love it. Feels nimble enough compared to the other touring bikes. Its stable at speed and crushes miles. And in a world of Road Glides and Street glides its nice to stand out a bit. People need to do more "performance" bagger road kings
Seems like pricing that’s “too low” is only a problem if a dealer has higher priced older models to sell. Because how on earth in this economic environment is dropping prices a bad thing? He’s not saying it’s a bad thing but he’s not exactly applauding HD for cost control on bikes that are already really up there. RK Special nearly $26K ?? Right.
I think the Road King special is over priced. I think you need to be realistic about sustainability of pricing. It costs a lot to make these motorcycles. American labor. Best of the best fit and finish. Etc
@ oh for sure, at the new price a lot of them will be sitting on the floor a long time. I don’t disagree with you there. Maybe it’s different in your area but for sure a slow seller around here. It was perfect for me however as someone who wanted a more touring capable bike but doesn’t like fairings! I’m that very small niche that the road king special fits.
Hey Matt: Always enjoy your video's and there contents. One question I have is why Harley is not using the new style of batwing on thr Tri- Glide??????????
I still think Harley's are too high in price. A 2 wheeled motorcycle shouldn't be as much as a 4 door car with heat/ac, roof, doors, windows, etc... But that is just me. I also am disappointed that they didn't add the new infotainment system to the trikes?! Come on Harley!
@@MattLaidlaw I really wish they would at least make it available as an option. Having had a clutch cable snap on me hours from home I vowed I would never buy another bike with a cable clutch. I guess I'll keep my 2020 until they do or I'll move to another brand.
Cable has more friction control. My 2018 CVO Ltd had a hydraulic clutch. I installed a Recluse slave cylinder on it. The HD was plastic junk. My 2024 CVO ST cable clutch operates just as good, if not better!
@@JimCunningham-m1b I personally can't tell a significant difference in either. The reason I hate the cable is two fold. I didn't like having to adjust it every 5000 miles and as stated above I had the cable clutch on my 2013 snap hours from home and I said no more. The reason they dropped it from what I understand is people weren't servicing the hydraulic system properly every 2 years and thus the over heating of fluid issue. So basically HD gave in to the people who didn't want to service their bike properly. My other bike is a Honda VTX1800 with 106,000 miles and I have never had a problem with that hydraulic clutch.
For our dealership its like 8 black for every 10 sold on RG and SG 2/10 for chrome on these bikes. This is approximate. I know this can be very different from dealer to dealer
Great review Matt. As a dealer, do you think they should still have a dealer meeting for the new model launch? Also, it seems to me they should move the launch back to August as in the past. Maybe a January launch is to help sell down 24s?
Is the whiskey fire royal king only available in the US? Canadian website is still showing onyx pearl, and no WG..... which would suck for me as i said last year If they had that color in a RK id be in trouble
I know that the blacked out look has been dominating for a while now. But, I'm still surprised that they dropped the timeless and classic road king standard. Hey Matt do you think that's it for the road king standard for good or will it return in the future if not in 2025?
@@MattLaidlaw By the way I am looking to get my first Harley. I live in Louisiana and I'm deciding between a low rider ST or a Street Glide. It's not a matter of price so much it is mainly the weight and the type of riding I will be doing.
Price increase is pretty disappointing. Also some of the new colors only being available in black trim seems like a money grab since black trim is also a higher priced option.
Matt, this may be a dumb question, but how do you know what bikes to order for your dealership when new model year bikes are released if the factory doesn't tell you what will be available in the upcoming model year?
That purple is bangin tho .. hot damn *mystic shift and that purple denim .. I love em both. I always keep the screen in my RG on that purple color .. idk I just like purple.. 🤷♂️
Wish they wouldn’t play with the prices . last year was nice to see they came down as the mark up that was put on these bikes for the last couple of years was crazy. I bought a 23 RG ST new this last year when the 24 were being released and the bike had been on the floor for 35k before tax and fees and I ended up getting it for 33k out the door and I paid that for my 21 Roadglide special back in 21 when they were released . We’re already paying premium prices and most dealers are throwing such I high mark ups it’s unreal I had a local dealer price a23 low rider S the price of what the low rider ST were post be going for and the ST were almost what a RG or ST were and I mean with in a few thousand
The alpine green was available on the street glide also for 24 only in chrome trim. Love the purple denim. Im a big denim fan. Glad its back even if its only 1 color. I like the deep dark red thats on the washington commanders helmets, i think it would be 🔥
So many bikes have climbed over the $20,000 price point past 4 years. I guess homes and cars up 50% since 2019. Gold $1200/ounce 2019 now $2600/ounce reflecting all the inflation/devalued dollar. Ouch. Wages only up 20% since 2019. It seems like many dealerships planning on selling less cars and motorcycles but higher Prices to make up for less sales?
I get the up charge for paint. I have a 21 Road Glide Limited in SnakeVenum. But seriously a $2,000 up charge just for a new model year???? Come on Harley, at least make a minor change to make it not hurt so bad!!!
Any word on when or if the 121 VVT will be available in regular touring bikes? What a shame if it doesn't. I get it, it is in the CVOs now but will it follow previous CVOs and become standard issue? Thanks Matt for the great vids.
There will not be a 121 VVT on standard bikes. It’s still so new. They’re gonna run it in CVOs I’m sure awhile longer. I don’t know if it will Trickle down to the non-CVO bikes.
Yikes, the price increase is skeptical at best especially when the bikes are way overpriced to begin with. The Nostalgia is what Harley is selling. Outdated bikes at upgraded prices pretty hard sell. I do enjoy your content and keep up the good work!
The price is extremely competitive for this class of motorcycle. I know it's fun to say they are outdated because people have said that about H-D for awhile but it just isn't true. Complete redesign of body including lighting, infotainment, Ride modes, Rider assist electronics, CVOs have VVT, and combine that with the fit and finish H-D brings to the table - this old talking point just isn't true. I'm not even bringing the Rev Max Pan America into the discussion yet.
@@MattLaidlaw and you shouldn't bring the Pan America into the discussion yet with all of its problems. What a disappointment that has turned out to be. They don't even hold 50% of the value by the end of the model year. You should know better than anyone all the electrical problems they had at the 2024 launch with all the RANDOM shutdowns while riding the new Glides. Harley as a company has gone straight to hell. Their management don't even ride bikes and have practically zero affiliation with the motorcycle industry. They are $15k bikes at best. They don't even come standard with inverted forks. With all the items you listed above, for $30k you should get all that and more. The larger CVO ST displacement motor, VVT, ride modes, Ohlin suspension, adjustable ride height, RDS etc. That's closer to a $30k bike, not this stuff. And I stopped at my dealer tonight to see the colors in person, not impressed. Nice, yes, but thousands extra for flames you can barely see? Please. I love your channel and your insight, especially your touring videos. But Harley hasn't cared about the consumer for a very very long time and it's a shame.
@@hunterslivesmatter8024The official consumer price index would disagree with your assessment on the price of Harleys. The price of the first Harley I ever saw was a 1976 Super Glide at $3,600. My new Chevy Nova I bought 2 years prior was under $3K. That $3,600 today is equal to $19,960. The closest bike today to that SuperGlide is the Softail Standard and lists for $14,999. You may not like today's prices, but in today's money your getting WAY more bike for your buck than when I first started riding.
I’m glad about one thing, looks like they are pretty much taking a break from the tourer/performance bagger craze and give the softails some love. The 2K base increase is BS. But I do like the new colors.

Yes but go for the standard it has taller and more comfortable suspension, look could always add a reach seat for your heighth .
With the special your going to need to upgrade the suspension , especially if your doing a lot of two up riding and overnights .
That would be great for upper body strength but could become tiring after long rides unles your a younger rider like in your 20s .
Sending prayers your way Matt. Hope you are all safe with what is going on. God bless 🙏🏻
Black with the flames are sick. I don’t know about with that Firestorm set though.
A Mystic Shift FXRLS would be amazing.
Defiantly hoping the softails come out in these colors. I really like the color options this year!
That would be cool
I am glad I got my bike last year
soooo, we have new colors, and what? I sure hope many of us are gonna hold tight until Zeitz is gone
Harley Davidson defiantly have the best paint science in the world
Other than added features, like flames and maybe metallic, paint color should be the same price.🧐
I personally love the flames! But I’m old school and own a wide glide.
Old School Wide Glide with Flames is an iconic H-D
@@MattLaidlaw mine is in Midnite Pearl 2013. I absolutely LOVE riding it!
Cant wait to see this year's Low Rider S
Love the firestorm paint!
I dig the new colors, hopefully I can pick one up used or wrecked and rebuild it in the future
I want the Whiskey Firestorm but with black outlines/borders on the flames. Orange and black never gets old and I think that would make it look sick.
Nice bikes and new colors, but will customers go for the cost of the upgraded paint scheme?
I have the 23 RG3, I love it.
great video
I can't wait to see what upgrades they're going to bring to the softail line. It's what I gravitate to anyway.
Yea, the fact that we don't know what's up with any of the softails leaves a lot to be curious about
I think what we just saw here is a clue that softails will be a focus. Sure hope so!
Im also interested in the Road King Standard, . Do you think it will be back in 2026 or wil Ibe limited to buy second hand or and older trade in .
I'm about to upgrade my Dyna Street Bob to a Road Glide. REALLY liking the Mystic Shift
That mystic shift is pretty cool.
Have they ever considered adding fuel capacity to the trikes? Like a rear gas tank with a few gallons. Greater range is always good on long trips.
Right.
I think a lot of the RK specials are going to sit for a long time at that price!
@ I in fact am one of those who feel a permanent fairing on a King is flat out blasphemy.
Hey Matt: Always enjoy your video's and there contents. One question I have is why Harley is not using the new style of batwing on thr Tri- Glide??????????
Good question! Maybe next year!
Probably buying this year...waiting to see the Limited and the CVOs before I decide...So far Road Glide...black with flamed
Hopefully lower fairings for 2024 touring bikes show up in the 2025 P&A catalog now that the Rushmore Limiteds are done being carried over.
Will they ever bring the hydraulic clutch back?
I doubt it but who knows.
Blue burst was available in black trim last year. Now only available in Chrome
So the only thing changing is c color
Mystic shift road glide in chrome trim will be had
What is the chrome vs black take rates?
For our dealership its like 8 black for every 10 sold on RG and SG 2/10 for chrome on these bikes. This is approximate. I know this can be very different from dealer to dealer
@ TY!👍
I think it will return one day. Yes I agree chrome is coming back.
@@MattLaidlaw By the way I am looking to get my first Harley. I live in Louisiana and I'm deciding between a low rider ST or a Street Glide. It's not a matter of price so much it is mainly the weight and the type of riding I will be doing.
Flames are cool, always have been... Usually it's a custom add-on💸 $o, factory 🔥is the 🏁
noting the “Factory custom” tag on the tank badge….they are filling the gap between a “base” bike and a CVO…..
I am hoping that the Pan America has all the issues resolved and that they come up with a larger fuel tank variant to match the GSA
The should have kept the white paint available IMO
They did
Price increase is pretty disappointing. Also some of the new colors only being available in black trim seems like a money grab since black trim is also a higher priced option.
Sweet! 6 x 900+ pound baggers and 0 air-cooled Evo Sportsters!
Mystic shift is a nice burple!! But pricing on the latest motorcycles makes used💸 rides the real deal 🤝
I wish they'd offer the chrome trim back on the Road King.Until they do,I'll stick with my Street Glide Special.
Let me guess, bigger, baggers and more expensive. But LOOK! New colors!
Matt, this may be a dumb question, but how do you know what bikes to order for your dealership when new model year bikes are released if the factory doesn't tell you what will be available in the upcoming model year?
The wheels that on the road glide 3. Look very nice on the tri glide. Ultra that long over due
Matt is this a good bike for me ? Coming to La area next year God willing . I'm 6 ft 220 lbs and I was also considering the heritage? .
How they get you is those dealer installed packages
That purple is bangin tho .. hot damn
*mystic shift and that purple denim .. I love em both.
I always keep the screen in my RG on that purple color .. idk I just like purple.. 🤷♂️
Will the new Pres be beneficial or a hindrance?.
I like the deep dark red thats on the washington commanders helmets, i think it would be 🔥
Yea it was. I made a mistake.
Looking Sharp 🤙🏻🇺🇸
At last that have new wheels on tri glide ultra same wheels that are on road glide 3. Very good nod Harley Davidson
So many bikes have climbed over the $20,000 price point past 4 years. I guess homes and cars up 50% since 2019. Gold $1200/ounce 2019 now $2600/ounce reflecting all the inflation/devalued dollar. Ouch. Wages only up 20% since 2019. It seems like many dealerships planning on selling less cars and motorcycles but higher
Prices to make up for less sales?
Will HD introduce RG Special on January 23rd?
road kings need a windshield
Yes
The Firestorm should be available on the chrome!
Everyone in India🇮🇳 loves Harley Davidson bikes.
I get the up charge for paint. I have a 21 Road Glide Limited in SnakeVenum.
But seriously a $2,000 up charge just for a new model year????
Come on Harley, at least make a minor change to make it not hurt so bad!!!
Well like I said in the video it’s still 1k less on average than the 2023 models.
I don’t know if it will
Trickle down to the non-CVO bikes.
@@MattLaidlaw too bad, that technology would be a seller. Maybe in the future.
Thanks for putting all the RUclips garages personalities in place with quality content 🙏🏽🫡
Haha thanks man. Quality is always worth the effort!
I'm going to wait until they come out with a carbureted 4 speed shovelhead in black
miss the early 2000 and earlier paintings
