  • Making a Hot Wheels display using a 20" bike tire. It's birthday gift time. DIY is more enjoyable than shopping. Because nothing says you care like a homemade gift.

What was the cost to make this? I have no tools at all but I've seen these shelves on Etsy and for $120-$150 with added led lights. I thought I could try a little DIY but I would rather just be cost efficient. This turned out awesome!!

Single mama over here 🙋🏻‍♀️ I want to make this for my son and was wondering how you get the edges “sister proof” and also how thick of wood did you use?

I used a dado blade in my table saw and cut the center section of the board away. That left the little ridges on the sides and made it “sister proof”. You could use a router for this as well. The wood was 1x2 Hemlock from my local hardware store.

Very interested in making this for my son but I do not know how to make the sister proof with a hand router in such a narrow 2 inch trim. Would you be kind to demonstrate that in another video?

rocket science ? I have 1/25 scale dirt bikes to mount in the tire. But how to attach the tires to the wood ? I need to be discreet as possible, so it will look nice. Not thrilled with wire, hot glue or sticky tape. Any ideas ? Thanks. Its for a dirt bike racers wedding gift .

I’d suggest E6000 craft adhesive. That stuff is amazing. A little dab should do.
