I put money on it that if you needed a planer you could call someone to use it or buy one for 200 bucks dewalt has a hand one....... lol mr gardener just stop and go back to your green house and leave the tools to us men.
I made 3 of them with an hacksaw, a hell of a job but in the end I made it. I built a grid of 8cmX4cm slot for a total of 220 slots using a 3cmX1cmX100cm wood. I used a total of almost 99 meters of wood! :-)
Did I see a moving trailer backed up to the garage? Being a fly boy figured it would have been made out of something like elm, mahogany, maple, western red cedar, cheery, I kid I kid. Turned out great thanks for sharing.
All you had to do was RUclips search “Hot Wheels Display Rivera” 😁 first I made one that holds 150 cars. Then I made 2 that hold 180. Then I made one that holds 216 cars! That one is massive! I like the display you made. Poplar frame and nice backboard. Legit 👌🏽 Love your assembly table!

Those orange 90 degree angles are a fantastic idea. I have never seen those before - custom to this type of application to be clamped on the inside of frames. If I were to search for those to order what would I call them? There also were some type of wire clips used briefly....
@@jeffmyers8088 it would cost you $500. It is not cost effective to ship at $100 plus dollars due to the size. The one in this video was for made for a single mom.
You don’t need a router or dado stack. I used a single blade and made two passes to get the right width. The router just made fitting the back better. Not required.
@@ginacapecchi Just take it one process at a time. Also be sure to put all the long pieces together and the short pieces together so you dado's are in the same spot on all pieces.
It is not cost effective for me to make and ship because shipping is close to $200. I do have a set of plans that I can send you. I fasten them to the wall with French Cleats.
Great job. I made similar but made the mistake of using hardboard for the sections and it broke apart too easily on the dado cuts during assembly. Plywood next time! Could you let me know your spacing on the dado cuts on the 40 and 20 inch pieces? Thanks
The strips were cut 2” wide by 46.5” long for horizontal pieces. The vertical pieces were cut 2” wide by 24” long. The dado on the horizontal pieces is 3” and the dado on the vertical pieces they are 2”.
@@unseenstorybehindsrilankan4038 I bet it is and depending on how the finish is applied. In a previous career I was an aircraft metal worker and worked a lot with aluminum.
Looks beautiful... considering the same thing only with shallow stop dados or whatever they are called in the poplar trim pieces that would allow the edges of the outside columns to be supported as well as lock the entire floating grid in from behind, once the back is installed. Or does that all sound unnecessary? just worried about the unsupported edges of the outside columns.
I was searching on Amazon for a storage unit a bit like this to display my LEGO Minifigures. I found one for £20 that had 64 compartments. Only problem is that there isn’t a glass door

Actually it was a $150 planer that I got off Facebook Market Place. Reason I did not go and S4S lumber from Home Depot , I had a planer and 4/4 Poplar.

I wonder how he fixed the grid to the backing board… Looked like it was a good 1” out off the back if not more.
The grid is friction fit. I did use CA Glue on all the intersections.

What were the cut spacing between the 20 inch strips and the 40 inch strips ? Excellent video brother!

It was a tight fit so no fasteners. If you want use some 23g 1/2 pin nails

“Rivera’s Hot Wheels” has been doing this for a while. His newest is 12 across and 18 down.
