Not every effort is going to result in the greatest innovation of all time, but all these cumulative efforts of tinkering and trying and learning and sharing and inspiring may end up doing exactly that. Ive ridden dozens of bikes and not one has been this precarious and sketchy, turning on that doesn't look comfortable at all. if this was a commercial product, where are you gonna get replacement treads? from the manufacturer? the markup and delay compared to a traditional tried and tested bike is just not it. thought I think that this idea is inherently well executed just not something I'd ride for longer than 30 seconds just for the experience

Frankly, you should lay down the tracks on the ground, increase the contact area. Then you would have a tracked bicycle that could go over soft ground, sand, mud etc. That would not have been so entirely useless. Also you might consider changing the drive gear ratios.

This is clearly just a start. I could see a use for it and I could see it going further! You could probably make it quiter and could probably make it electric and could probably use it for long distance travel/hiking to cary more things. There is a lot of potential! Just because a prototype is wonky doesn't make it useless! This is innovation! It's not exactly practical YET but you can see it!🎉

I'm really surprised at all the negative comments on this one. A big part of inventing is having an interesting idea and then trying it out. Not every effort is going to result in the greatest innovation of all time, but all these cumulative efforts of tinkering and trying and learning and sharing and inspiring may end up doing exactly that. A completely sincere "thank you" and "hats off" to this effort!

Ive ridden dozens of bikes and not one has been this precarious and sketchy, turning on that doesn't look comfortable at all. if this was a commercial product, where are you gonna get replacement treads? from the manufacturer? the markup and delay compared to a traditional tried and tested bike is just not it. thought I think that this idea is inherently well executed just not something I'd ride for longer than 30 seconds just for the experience

But some are downright disparaging, and those are the ones that seem to be missing the spirit of the creative and innovative process. People can share honest opinions about how something turned out without tearing down the very important process of experimenting with new ideas in the first place.

"Got it to work" as long as it's cycled on perfectly smooth asphalt, in a straight line, while encountering no pebbles or debris. It's the whole "spherical chickens in a vacuum" thing, with extra steps.

Now back to using WHEELS... which definitely work 100 times better than the tank style tracks shown here.
The whole time I was thinking "this is actually a nice idea, if well done and all it could save space etc." and then he started driving it.
It's like inventing chop sticks _after_ you've seen the fork.
Frankly, you should lay down the tracks on the ground, increase the contact area. Then you would have a tracked bicycle that could go over soft ground, sand, mud etc. That would not have been so entirely useless. Also you might consider changing the drive gear ratios.
Yeah, I didn't understand why he didn't try to do something like that, it would have took a bit more engineering and extra cogs belts etc but it would've been much more interesting and even a little practical unlike this contraption eh!,lol 🤣
@@arina9153 You're wrong though. You just bend the tracks slightly, that the ends have less pressure, and make the front track shorter, and it will turn just fine.
