Oh man this is SO useful. As a Canadian hw collector that watches tip videos from American collectors, I was so confused about the cases for so long. Thank you!!
Very helpful video, I learned many new things. I'm just a newbie Hotwheels collector, well I used to buy Hotwheels in maybe around 2015 or even lower, its so disappointing and sad though that I lost many old Hotwheels, only some are left behind and there could possibly be some hidden in our house, some are given to strangers, some are trashed by my Father since he hates me playing with toys or buying them. I can't really do much in those times as I'm still young, I'm 13 by now and turning 14 this year. I still continue collecting Hotwheels even in the middle of pandemic, I usually buy 1 and sometimes 2 if I liked them. I'm using the allowance of my Father, he didn't know I was doing this though. If he ever knew this, surely I'm dead. Anyways, great video and you got a like from me :)
WOW! talk about getting technical I've been collecting Hot Wheels for the longest time and I never understood what those numbers meant but this video was a real eye opener Thank you so much now I'm going to look at all 1,394 of my cars to look at the numbers 😆 lol really great video bro when it comes to hobbies never stop learning👍⭐🤖
Thank you for the this! Very helpful! I assumed the cases were released in alphabetical order but wasn’t for sure so I appreciate you clearing that up! I just started collecting last month and am already on the hunt for treasures. Zero luck so far but it’s still fun.
How do I find what case is my car from the back of the card, but I’m in Australia so the cards are International so I don’t know where to find it on the back of the card
I have a 2011 Muscle Mania 11 69' Dodge Coronet Super Bee that has the L2593 above the UPC, but does not say "guaranteed for life" anywhere on the card. This car was a Target exclusive that includes 2 "car bands", a blue rubber band and a red rubber band that are underneath the car in the blister and used to propel the car in some way. So why the difference in packaging if this is a USA only version? Maybe something to do with the included car bands? I am not a collector but for some reason (probably because it's a kick ass Mopar) I purchased this car and never opened it.
This is awesome! I’m very new to this and recently found my sealed cards from about 15-17 years ago. I’m interested to look into them more with this knowledge. Very cool video thank you!
New collector... found my very first treasure hunt car the other day at Walmart. Was so excited. Also found two error card cars (wrong car in the card).
@ojasraman I don't know about historically but currently Hot Wheels are being made in a quantity of 250 per set, per year. In your example, the 155/250 would mean that the 155 is Hot Wheels car #155 of the total set of 250 cars for whatever year and set that car is a part of. Does that make sense?
I have a question. As a Canadian, I can’t tell what case the car is from by the back of the card, since I’m international, so, how can I find the box that tells what case it is in stores like.. Walmart ?
WOW! Thanks For The Info!! I'm Currently Going Through My Son's Hot Wheels from the 80's to Present. Its #5, 5-Gallon Totes, of New In Package & Loose Hot Wheels filled to the Top of each Tote, also includes Hot Wheels Tracks & Playsets & Cases, New & Used. Now trying to Put them On eBay!!
Wow that’s awesome! Hope you find some good stuff. Ps. If you feel so obligated to give me one of the valuable ones because I helped you find them I will gladly except😃😃 😂 jkjk
Hi, can you show me how to determine what cards go in the different series, please. I have several 1/5, or 3/5. Where can I find the other vehicles in that group? Thank you.😊
My question is about hotwheels 50th anniversary Disney movie cars. The 2 numbers printed on the front of the card on the right bottom are differnt when it's the same car. Like 2 snow white cars on the card are 2 differnt numbers?
@Yachtls The "I" and "O" are omitted from the case letter coding process for what seem like avoiding mixups between capital letter "I" and number "1" and also capital letter "O" and number "0" My question is related to this. When you went over the 3 digit stamped code on the bottom of the cars, beginning in 2008, the chart that you put on the screen omitted the letter "I" just as the cases are marked. Is that how Hot Wheels/Mattel does this also or was this a possible mistake because of being used to not usually factoring the letters "I" and "O" into the Hot Wheels equation? Yours went from H--2015 (NO "I") to J--2016. And to continue with where your chart stopped would it skip the letter "O" and go from N--2020 (NO "O") to P--2021, and so on? I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered by you or anyone else. Thank you sir!
I probably have tons more and I seem to have more from before 2008. I have one car that says D50 on it but the car has no name, 2 different hotwheels logos (1990s one and the current one), has mattel 1969 on it and it has some 80s lookin wheels on it A27 - ‘71 Plymouth GTX A35 - covelight A42 - nitro scorcher A49 - mega duty (colour changing one) A52- 1957 chevy (colour changing)
I have lots of 🔥 wheels without the date method since some of mine are from 90s. I did find a B 17 in my pile since I have a gap in collections from my 10 yr olds son collections and my now 2 yr olds son..but have acouple of messed up ones that belong to my 30 yr old son..am just glad I kept some!
I have a Delorian Hover Mode that is 108/250. On bottom of car is Made in Malaysia Copywrite 2015 with numbers 1186 MJ, 1, NL. On back of card is FYC50-D9C0E and E8M8U. I can't figure out the year it was made, can you help?

Okay so my hotwheels card has Asst. BFM60 and says proof of purchase with no other number also at the top where the hook is it says BFM70-K912(G1) -with 1L right below the BFM70- as far as I paid attention you didn’t mention anything about these please help also is it good for my car to have M01 underneath
Where can I get the information, which car is assigned to which letter? So in which "case" do I will find my favourite hot wheel, for example the "Hot Wired" for 2022? Thanks for helping.
thanks for the info i’m newbie here.. my question is i found a 94 Audi Avant RS2 was listed to Super treasure hunt and has 10/10 so guys is always ok to collect them all if there is in one store we see?
Underneath those numbers, you should see some lettering that name the series that car is in! For example, factory, fresh, glow, wheels, X, racers, and a variety of more. In each of these series there are a limited number of cars if you have one out of 10 that means you have the first out of the 10 in the series if you have five out of 10 you have the fifth car out of 10 in the series.
Hey bro did you know about that logo of mattel on 2018 Audi R8 Spyder. U.S.A Cards Bottom Right corner Red logo of *mattel*. It's anything special or its normal? If you know about that please explain me 🙏
Can someone please tell me where the manufacturer code is on this, ive been trying to email mattel about an error but i cant do it without it.....or if theres an easier way than what im doing?
I’m curious to what the “1/10” Means on the boxes, I have some cars where it’s 1/5 and I was originally thinking it’s because it was the 1st one to be made out of the 5. However, there are the other numbers that are exactly like that but 100/250 something like that. Which one says what?
There are 250 mainline cars created each year. So if you have a car that says 100/250on the top right corner, it was the 100th car model created this year. The 1/10 or 1/5 our sets created inside the main line cars, you will see, they will be categorized in groups. I.e. factory, fresh, glow wheels, muscle mania, HW rescue, and so on
So in terms of determining the date that the car was made … I have one that says P47. I assume the P indicates 2022, but we’re not yet in the 47th week of the year… so? How do you explain the 47 then?
Same here, I have a "Layin' Lowrider" (TM) with "R05". According to the list it would be a car from the future: R=2023, 15=15th week (april I guess). I have a lot of cars from last year 2021. They show the letter "P" and this year all cars show the letter "R". I think the letter "Q" is also skipped, due to the fact, that it is hard to distinguish a "Q" from an "O", same as "I" from "1" and "O" from "0". Maybe there is another reason, I don't know? CU Chris
I have car that indicate R42 which means it was made on 42nd week of 2023? Hmm 😅 it's currently week 20-21 of year 2023 Maybe the I and O needs to included in that chart?
Are short cards USA or international? Living in the states, this is my first time hearing about them. Are they more rare? I'd love more info about short cards. Thanks!
They are more for international markets, but they do turn up in the US. If you have Meijer stores in your area, they stock short cards in their check out lines.
As i am new collector i started nearly connecting hotwheels within some couple of days can you suggest me some websites ? where i can buy those cars and how to know which car is from which year love from india.. ❤❤❤
How do you determine what year the box is? I purchased a couple of cases from Dollar Tree and one was 2021 and one was 2020? Any tips on how to determine which is which?
Im not saying this sarcastically but just use some common knowledge!! Like if it’s 2021 and the “A” case is shown it is most likely a 2021 a case!! If u find a “I” case right now it’s prob 2020! U know what I’m saying??
@@Sam_Dunn Ok, I have seen videos of people finding "M" cases so if I get an "M" case, am I to assume it is one or the other? Not like I got a "Q" which is totally not out for this year yet? Sarcastic or not, still a valid question! So other than recognizing the case ID, there is nothing in the identification associated with year is all I was asking!
I really hope you did not take my last response offensively!! That was not my intention! It is a great question and to be completely honest with you I really don’t know🤔🤔!! BUT!! If you find a case and pull the cars out then follow the steps for finding the year of the specific car using the technique I showed you in this video you could tell from there! Sorry I can’t answer your question in the fall. But if you find an answer let me know! Thanks for the comment.👍🏼👍🏼
So all the hot wheels are categorized under certain categories. For instance, then and now, the one out of 10 represents one out of 10 cars in that category. Another one is the factory fresh category whatever car you pick up, let's say four out of 10, is the fourth car out of 10 in the factory fresh category
i have a jaguar, copyright in 2018, but there is a R07. There are in generel more numbers on my cars. - on upper side, FYB40 -lower side 1186 MJ,1, NL can someone help ??
So there's no hard dates on when case contents will be in store? And how to people get the cases early, cause I've seen people unboxing J cases and I can't find J case cars anywhere. (Wanting the Dodge Rampage.)
Nah no hard dates! Also ppl get the cases early bc that’s where they come out first! Like Malaysia get the cases first! And then the West Coast of the United States before the east
You never really said what the last two letters on the case box actually means I know it’s different mixes but what do they represent. There’s always different case codes for the same case letter what does each one mean? So they could both be F case but have two totally different codes.
I believe that there are 250 new hot wheels made each year. So if you get 133 out of 250 that’s a 133rd casting out of 250. And underneath that it should say factory fresh, glow wheels, factory speed, these are all individual “sets“ and there are usually 10 cars in each of these “sets”
I have a Porsche 935 (HW Race Day 5/10) 52/250. under it the code is P05... so my car was made in 2022? (the date under it says 2020) And is "new for 2021" I'm confussed lol
I think the 2020 Mattel under the car just means that they started making the Porsche 935 in 2020 but you have a 2021 release of it. If that makes sense
I believe they skip I and O cases because the I resembles a one (1) and the O resembles a zero (0) but I could be wrong.
This would be correct
Very interesting thank you for that!
that's right
Exactly what I was going to say

Thank you so much!!! but how can I distinguish between a 2020 and 2021 box? which is the carracter to be sure it is a G 2021 and not a G 2020 box?
Well the 2020 cards do not have the plastic on the top back of the cards, while the 2021 cards do. And 2022 has a whole different card design coming.
On front of the card "right side" there's a number with a slash. For example 1/5 or 3/10 etc. What those numbers means?
Thanks in advance!

Also what do the 2 numbers and letter mean in front of the G?

So there is no way to see what case the car is from if im in canada ?

They are space savers. Sometimes you can find them in the little section of candy and stuff just before the cashier.
They are more for international markets, but they do turn up in the US. If you have Meijer stores in your area, they stock short cards in their check out lines.
How can I understand from witch case are the cars from short cards?
As i am new collector i started nearly connecting hotwheels within some couple of days can you suggest me some websites ? where i can buy those cars and how to know which car is from which year love from india.. ❤❤❤
how can you tell the year and week on premiums??
are they dropped every month on the first ? i know i’m little late to the upload but i’ve been wondering is it based on each month?
I don’t think it’s each month on the dot. It’s kind of sporadic!!
I want to buy a 72pcs international box. What code should I choose? Any suggest guys? I appreciate.
You will have to take a look at what cars are in the case and see what grouping you like most!
What does the fraction 3/5 or 1/10 etc. represent? It’s on the front of the card, about half way up on the right hand side.
So all the hot wheels are categorized under certain categories. For instance, then and now, the one out of 10 represents one out of 10 cars in that category. Another one is the factory fresh category whatever car you pick up, let's say four out of 10, is the fourth car out of 10 in the factory fresh category
Thanks for the info. Car Guy4Life
i have a jaguar, copyright in 2018, but there is a R07. There are in generel more numbers on my cars.
- on upper side, FYB40
-lower side 1186 MJ,1, NL
can someone help ??
So there's no hard dates on when case contents will be in store? And how to people get the cases early, cause I've seen people unboxing J cases and I can't find J case cars anywhere. (Wanting the Dodge Rampage.)
Nah no hard dates! Also ppl get the cases early bc that’s where they come out first! Like Malaysia get the cases first! And then the West Coast of the United States before the east
@@Sam_Dunn Thanks I was wondering about this.
I have a box that says L2593-977REC. I know the L part from your explanation but 977REC?
R-case EC-kod of mix
You never really said what the last two letters on the case box actually means I know it’s different mixes but what do they represent. There’s always different case codes for the same case letter what does each one mean? So they could both be F case but have two totally different codes.
What does factory sealed mean and how does it work? Thanks
Factory sealed means that it has not been opened since the factory
On the front of the card, what does the Quantity like, 7/10 or 133/250, mean?
I believe that there are 250 new hot wheels made each year. So if you get 133 out of 250 that’s a 133rd casting out of 250. And underneath that it should say factory fresh, glow wheels, factory speed, these are all individual “sets“ and there are usually 10 cars in each of these “sets”
Hi. Is it worth anything if the card has a miss spelled word on it?
Thanks!
Great video.
Can we buy through online any of this cases?
Hi everyone, can someone tell me which year they changed the cases from a single layer to a double layer case?
What do you mean double layer
Nice share bro
I have a Porsche 935 (HW Race Day 5/10) 52/250. under it the code is P05... so my car was made in 2022? (the date under it says 2020) And is "new for 2021" I'm confussed lol
I think the 2020 Mattel under the car just means that they started making the Porsche 935 in 2020 but you have a 2021 release of it. If that makes sense
they skip I and O because they look like 1 and 0
