Just turned 17 and I’ve recently started interest in collecting hot wheels. I’ve always played them when I was a little kid but I’ve been getting the urge to go to the hot wheels section in target’s, Walmart’s, etc. every time I go now. God knows how many good cars I’ve missed on buying over the years lol.
Same! I’m 21 and just started collecting again!! It’s a bummer that missed so many opportunities to start collecting when I was younger but it’s never to late to start collecting HW! 😊
It’s the same with me I’m 15 but I’ve been playing with hot wheels since I was a little kid. I didn’t know much about hot wheels but I knew that if the cars had a different color from the original they were rare . So I’d managed to pick up an Acura NSX super treasure hunt when I was about 10. It’s still my favorite hot wheel til this day.
The purple truck? Even though you see it. It may be a normal mainline because the Treasure hunt one has a face on it but the normal mainline just has the menu thats why you have to keep a close look out for the details
honestly bro, a couple years ago i just bought hotwheels i liked... i was sorting through a box of loose cars today and found 4 treasure hunts! including the burger truck!
I started collecting again last year after years of playing with them when I was young. I don't often see as many female collectors but I love the community! Thanks for the tips 😊
I'm into collecting the Volvo 850 I've been buying everything in sight and your absolutely right about the bucket boxes that they toss them into with the cards getting damaged but I have both Volvo fast wagons and red yellow blue and white Volvo 850s...if anyone has any Volvo colors or models I might be missing out on please chime in!
Why would you buy more than 1 of the same treasure hunt car? I always leave duplicate treasure hunts on the top of pegs or dump bins for others to keep as part of their collection.
I typically don't but I hear what you are saying. In my area Treasure Hunts get scooped up almost immediately. I'm actually very lucky to find any nowadays. Also, most people will only trade TH for TH so I grab one to trade, I keep one in the card and I open one to touch and race. Glad you liked it. I haven't had much luck at the big box stores. Most of my finds are at smaller retailers. I actually found 6 Treasure Hunts today in one small dump bin that was just filled. I already had them so I left them out in the open for the next collector to find! Happy Hunting!
You’re welcome. Glad you find it useful. I vividly remember finding my first ever TH.... I was hooked on finding more since I spent years having no luck.
Yeah, they're very hard to find. Here in Californa, employees have the audacity to tell you not bother looking through the pegs because they take all super treasure hunts out of the cases before they make it out to the floor. Can you believe that crap?
That’s not cool. There is a private toy store in my town that pull them and put them behind a glass case and try and sell them for way more money. Once I clued in, I stopped going there.
Today I found a super treasure hunt 95 rx7 in a dump bin at Safeway, I didn’t even know it was a super treasure hunt, I just wanted an rx7 And for Christmas one year I got a Porsche 934.5 and went probably two years until just today I noticed it was a super treasure hunt
I just check the back of card from bottom to see any words besides reflecting car words. not always sure what cars are treasure cars so i just check back of card any. and have scored some even if i dont expect to score any at time. and score other kinda cars i real want at time.
I started collecting about a year ago so i have about 100 cars now .. I mostly collect JDM cars and some fantasy cars but its fun to find a nice car at times 👌👌
What are the production numbers on TH and Supers? Like the last 5 years on average not all the way back. Great video by the way. Helps me with HW hunting with my son. Fun stuff!
Thanks for commenting. No one really knows the circulation numbers of STH and TH. In 1996 they claimed to release 25,000 of them. Who really knows now!? What I do know is that it is common to find 1-2 TH in a case of 72. STH are way more rare than that… I’ve been through dozens of fresh cases and never found one… then one day I found 2 in 4 cases. Pure luck! Happy hunting.
@MikeFreda At the end of the day it's still fun. At this point in my life it's a decent hobby and bridges the gap between my loves for cars and my love for collecting and it allows me to bond with my son doing so. It's nice to know the supers are at least pretty tough to snag. Thanks for the tips!
Awesome finds and in store video congrats. 👍AMD thank you about the hunting tips.👍I found a couple regular treasure hunts custom 1956 Ford pickup trucks the other day in a brand new hotwheels display shipper at one of my local drug stores. 👍
OMG I loved your video... I live in New Zealand and just starting my collection, just bought for my son but I fall in love for it. All the best mate. Very nice tips 🤩

I don’t think that matters. They can be hard enough to find in the wild. Collect what you like… and/or trade for what you like. A complete set means more that just a couple random TH’s.
Reminds me of my birthday 3 years ago my birthday gift for myself I wish I could buy a Chevrolet camaro then on that day I went to that store they have new stocks one of those boxes he opened handed me 2 Camaros first green 2017 zl1 and orange 2018 I never expect my Camaro ZL1 was a super treasure hunt that's the second time in my birthday I bought a camaro first 2012 a 1969 Z28 then 2018 a 2017zl1 that's my happiest day feels I won the jackpot in the lottery by that time I heard a rumor a camaro super t will come out one 2010 prostock the other no model or variant and luckily it's the 2017ZL1 was the one I said to my self then I won't believe it unless I the one who got it and it happened on my birthday I bought it from me to me
Have fun and good luck. Go easy. When I first started I just did Honda and VW’s since those were my first two cars I owned. My Hotwheels VW collection is over a 100 cars now. Cheers.
You should be polite to people are working all times, not only because you need something. And believe me, i know things you looking for from inside. Thank you
Thanks for the tips, but I don't get why taking several cars of the same type. I'll probably get two max and leave the opportunity to another fellow collectors to find it at the store.
Thanks for you comments. I typically don’t grab multiples for myself. I usually try to find two. One to keep in the card and one to open. I’m my area, collectors tend to trade rather than buy so the multiples are typically are for my collector friends. It helps to have a network. Cheers.
The normal Treasure Hunts have a TH on the car somewhere and the Super Treasure Hunts have STH and typically have a metallic paint job and rubber wheels. There is a list of cars for both. They key to finding them it to quickly identify what is/could be on the peg or on the bins.
It’s really hard to say what is going on. Where I live some stores are months behind other stores. I think it has to do with distribution and head office. Some stores will not open new cases until the old cases are sold. I’m not privy on how Hotwheels distributes their cases or how they do their production runs.
I'm not aware the series numbers are something that is collectable. I'm my area I seem to find all the cars in a series without any issues. I guess some series could be harder to obtain but I have no experience on that. I don't collect all the standard Mainlines anymore, it's just too many cars! lol. cheers.
Psh not in my town. To many scalpers. And all I have is Walmarts and dollar genrals to look for them at only found 2 regular treasures hunts in 2 years I'm about to give up at this point
So even if the logo TH is not on the car it is still a super treasure hunt? I got 2 kafer racer VW today, but just without the TH logo like the description said it should look like.
If the TH is not stamped on the car or the round flame logo is on of the card, it’s not a treasure hunt. Some treasure hunts can look like a normal mainline.
If there are no treasure hunts or super treasure hunts it’s just a box of regular mainline cars... worth what ever the peg price is. Unfortunately, these boxes have multiples of the same car so people don’t usually buy “5” of the same generic mainline car.
Thanks for your comment. I recommend just collect what you like. Make a set of a certain cars. Like All Honda or all VW. You can also collect your favorite car or the first car you had... things like that. Just purchasing/collecting all the Mainlines is another option but not something I would recommend. The set will never be worth what you paid for it unless you stumble across errors a some rare ones. Collecting Treasure Hunts is another possibility but that requires more effort and doing your homework. Just have fun!

When is comes to collecting some people just look for rare or hard to find HW, others collect what they like and previous cars they once owned. I have a large VW collection since I owned a few. Example, if you are into Ford mustangs… find and collect all the various ones that have been released rather than just random HW’s.
@@MikeFreda Walmart in Roanoke!! Not near you but i was there with a collector and we opened a "E" Case and found the "C" case treasure hunt (it was a mixed case)
If you go to a 99cents store you will find alot of super rare. I don't collect hotwheels but I always find like 20 treasure hunt rare hotwheels there lol. People just don't care to get them. I know about hotwheels because because years ago I use to collect them but not anymore.
Cool. Awesome to hear. I use to daily my 60 then decided to cherish it. I no longer drive it in the winter. The winter is hard on older vehicles in my part of the world. The salt they use on the roads eats Landcruisers.
@@MikeFreda for reals, my dads 100 series came from newyork, and theres some pretty nasty rusting underneath, and im gonna do the same, it was my first car, gonna keep it forever.
You can only be as successful in the stores That don't have people that know people to give them the treasure hunts. Also, living in a big city helps. TUMA-NA-TOR
if it's for a personal collection, is it bad if I open them? I'm not really selling these, only a few duplicates I have maybe lol I only recently started collecting these again, fun way to get out
How do I find a treasure hunt what do I even look for? Me and my little boy recently started collecting hot wheels an the more I read about it the more I am interesres
It can be hard… took me a while to figure things out (hence this tips video) there is a list of TH and STH. Study the list, keep it on your phone or print it out and start looking. It helps if you find freshly stocked stores that haven’t been picked yet.
You can. From Hotwheels themselves, it’s tough because many people are doing the same thing. Other sources, you will pay a premium. I enjoy the hunt… the thrill of the chase.
For me it's easier to just buy it online from the jerk scalpers. These guys have nothing better to do than to ruin it for the true collectors out there that DON'T want to turn around and sell a $1 car for $50-$200. Those guys live in their parents basements still there's absolutely NO doubt. Anyway, I have been a true collector since the early 80's and have NEVER found a STH or TH out in the wild. I probably spent triple in fuel/time/wear and tear on my vehicle going to multiple stores trying to find them. My advice would be to just buy them online. 👍
is there any good website that sells hot wheels and ship worldwide? im looking for a car to give my boyfrien as a christmas gift but i feel like the specific car im looking for is impossible to find online and not too expensive :(
I typically don’t buy HW from online retailers. You can try EBay or Amazon but you will pay a premium. Another option is ask on some Facebook HW market groups.
Valid point. In my area, most of the collectors like to trade the hard to find or coveted HW. Extras are used for trade bait and not hoarding as it would appear. The collectors typically end up getting what they want in the end. Cheers.
Nice vlog and tips. Glad to.know I've been doing at least 4 of 5 of those, except the part of being early birds in the store or checking.it late night. But yeah in the regularly visited shops, i've noticed the pattern in restocking their inventories too. Got a few of those same RTH you got too. But still in the hunt for my 1st $TH out in the wild though. New S here.
That is very true. This is part of the reason I don't go out of my way to hunt them down as much as I use to. If I'm in a particular store for other reasons, I will have a quick look to see if the shelves have been freshly stocked. Cheers.
I believe some do… or they hold them for people. I’ve gone into a store before and the clerk said to me “there are a couple good one in there”. So, she knew what is going on. Cheers.
With modern Hotwheels it’s usually STH, TH and error cards (wrong packaging, miss-matched wheels, paint or decals) Some regular TH are not as popular as others. Some mainline cars are very popular due to a cool car or a first casting. This is where you need to do your homework. Hotwheels forum’s are a good place to start.
There can be if it’s old. It really depends who wants it and why. Collect what you like… you won’t make much money on the modern Hotwheels due to them making so many. STH can be worth something due to them being hard to find but tend to be worth more if still in the card.
That’s a long dry spell. Sorry to hear that. They are hard to find and if you don’t hit the stores regularly you will miss them. I’m curious on how many STH go home with people who have no idea that they have.
All good advice but why buy all of them, if you’ve got one for your self maybe two if you like to have one boxed on unboxed, but leave some for everyone else there’s no need to be greedy
I was just like you. I had a Huge HW poster with all the treasure hunts. Never found one for years and years. Had no idea on how or where to look. Wasn’t until recently that I was enlighten. Just sharing my knowledge. Hope you eventually find one. It’s actually a thrill to find your first few in the wild.

@@MikeFreda Walmart in Roanoke!! Not near you but i was there with a collector and we opened a "E" Case and found the "C" case treasure hunt (it was a mixed case)
@@Blaykes_sports Nope, It is not. Thats on the other side of the continent from me! lol All Good! Thanks for sharing!
@@MikeFreda Np!! Have a wonderful night/ day!
@@MikeFreda thxs for the websites in the description u are very helpful I got the whole star wars set
If you go to a 99cents store you will find alot of super rare. I don't collect hotwheels but I always find like 20 treasure hunt rare hotwheels there lol. People just don't care to get them. I know about hotwheels because because years ago I use to collect them but not anymore.
Can we see the 60 series landcruiser ya got?
I have a entire playlist on my Landcruiser. Please have a look at my channel.
@@MikeFreda for sure, i daily my 40 series and love them too death
@@MikeFreda also do ya know if the jonny lightning diecast landcruisers any good?
Do you really have to take them all when you find multiple ones,i have found multiples on many hunts ,but i only take one,im not a greedy person
You can only be as successful in the stores That don't have people that know people to give them the treasure hunts. Also, living in a big city helps. TUMA-NA-TOR
Haven't got a STH yet.
been finding a lot treasure hunt lately but no super so far. i guess i depends on were you live
Same here. Either I'm a bit too late or someone in the stores have clued in ands pick them before they hit the shelves.
i neededd that, im going to start a youtube channel soon and my first vid is on hot wheels!
Good luck. Hope it works out for you! It’s fun creating.
Dude I'm amazed cause I've hunted them down for weeks and I have not found anything
I’ve been shut out for months. Supply of Hotwheels in my area has dried up. The supply chain is non existent.
@@MikeFreda enjoyed the videos though awesome job
if it's for a personal collection, is it bad if I open them? I'm not really selling these, only a few duplicates I have maybe lol I only recently started collecting these again, fun way to get out
At the end of the day, it's your personal collection. It doesn't matter if you open them since you said it isn't for the monetary return.
What if all my dollorama dont have hot wheels, i just find hot wheels in wlamart and toys r us

That lambo could’ve looked good on your shelves 😔
How do I find a treasure hunt what do I even look for? Me and my little boy recently started collecting hot wheels an the more I read about it the more I am interesres
It can be hard… took me a while to figure things out (hence this tips video) there is a list of TH and STH. Study the list, keep it on your phone or print it out and start looking. It helps if you find freshly stocked stores that haven’t been picked yet.
That honda prelude made me spit my drink. Wow at a 1$ store
thanks G
What about buying online? Makes it easier
A friend sent me a 3d botmaker video a couple weeks ago… I don’t know if I should hug him or kick him in the nuts…I’m obsessed

I know it’s kinda an old video thxs for the tips btw but is that a Jeep Wagoneer or Cherokee?
Couldn’t u Atleast leave 1 of each for other collectors?
Valid point. In my area, most of the collectors like to trade the hard to find or coveted HW. Extras are used for trade bait and not hoarding as it would appear. The collectors typically end up getting what they want in the end. Cheers.
Nice vlog and tips. Glad to.know I've been doing at least 4 of 5 of those, except the part of being early birds in the store or checking.it late night. But yeah in the regularly visited shops, i've noticed the pattern in restocking their inventories too. Got a few of those same RTH you got too. But still in the hunt for my 1st $TH out in the wild though. New S here.
I hope one day ill find my self ah lucky hunt ♥️
At the dollarama I always find rare cars sitting aside from employees
I want the 22 green the skyline 😭😭
Don't forget to add up how much you spend on gas.
That is very true. This is part of the reason I don't go out of my way to hunt them down as much as I use to. If I'm in a particular store for other reasons, I will have a quick look to see if the shelves have been freshly stocked. Cheers.
Is dollar tree a good store?
Some do carry Hotwheels. The ones near me don’t. You would have to check.
I thought I found a treasure hunt and my dad got mad and opened it and it turned out to be very similar to the treasure hunt
I wonder if the workers themselves collect and so they just take them all for themselves 💀
I believe some do… or they hold them for people. I’ve gone into a store before and the clerk said to me “there are a couple good one in there”. So, she knew what is going on. Cheers.
Hindi mo kami maloloko johnny knoxville🤣
How to know what’s desirable?
With modern Hotwheels it’s usually STH, TH and error cards (wrong packaging, miss-matched wheels, paint or decals) Some regular TH are not as popular as others. Some mainline cars are very popular due to a cool car or a first casting. This is where you need to do your homework. Hotwheels forum’s are a good place to start.
@@MikeFreda is there value to open box cars?
There can be if it’s old. It really depends who wants it and why. Collect what you like… you won’t make much money on the modern Hotwheels due to them making so many. STH can be worth something due to them being hard to find but tend to be worth more if still in the card.
@@MikeFreda thank you
Thanks
God damn toys r us lol this guy was going to the exclusive locations
Searching for 11 years for a single STH, found none to date.
That’s a long dry spell. Sorry to hear that. They are hard to find and if you don’t hit the stores regularly you will miss them. I’m curious on how many STH go home with people who have no idea that they have.
Why are treasure hunts so popular? Trying to learn here...
They are released in limited numbers, are a little different than a normal mainline car and can be hard to find. The ole Supply and Demand theory.
@@MikeFreda Thanks👍
Ibstarted my collection. I like real car models.
All good advice but why buy all of them, if you’ve got one for your self maybe two if you like to have one boxed on unboxed, but leave some for everyone else there’s no need to be greedy
I use to look in the 90s when they had the green index but never found one. To this day I still haven't found one.
New sub for you..
Greeting from bali..
Very good video share.. 👍👍
