    In 1987 I purchased an '83 V45 Magna with less than 2,000 for $1,700 . It was Mint. Stored in a heated basement in the winters. I loved that bike then and still think about it even though I'm riding a '17 Breakout. Two completely different bikes.

      @@REDonVFR It was perfect for me. My first bike. I'm only 5'6"and seat height was low. Smooth ride and always thought the king/queen seats were cool. Little sissy bar and a small rack for my weekends down the Jersey shore.

    I’d rather hear the wrenches turning and the sounds of you working on the bike than that annoying music. Had to stop the video 9 minutes in 😂. I would have muted it, but I gotta hear what you’re explaining. Great job! Thank you for saving these awesome old bikes.

    Author, didn't you see the DRAIN PLUG, in the form of a bolt, at the very bottom of the frame, on the left side, where the driver's left footrest is? In this model, the coolant flows inside the tubular frame!!!!

      @@allanmcelroy9840I question it too. I suppose it’s a tube anyway so why not save some space and pipes and just use the frame… must make sure it’s never just water in the coolant system though and have anti freeze with some rust inhibitors..

      @@REDonVFR At our shop us mechanics tried to hide when these Honda Magna's came in for work! LOL
      The carbs in the valley between the "V" are an absolute bitch to work on. A Nightmare.
      A common job was the bike had been left sitting - and the carbs all clogged up with rotting gas.
      I swear there are a million jets in these carbs - all to be painstakingly cleaned out.
      Cleaning them out was a $1,000 job.

    • @REDonVFR
      @REDonVFR  Год назад +1

      Fogging oil in the cylinders for sure. Then take one of the covers off, to get to the nut to spin it by hand (left side I believe). If the engine spins then you're good to give it an oil change also. You may hear sucking noises due to compression buildup and release. That's a good sign.

      These are 698cc or 42.6ci cruiser motorcycles, unofficially called v42 and made between 1984 and 1986.

    • @Addison0526
      @Addison0526 21 день назад

      They were de-stroked after 1983 because the United States put a tax (pressured by Harley) on bikes 700cc and above because the import competition was smoking the domestic bikes. So they went from 45ci to 42ci or ~750cc to ~700c while keeping the same peak power and torque.
