My first new bike, but in maroon. Nice to see it and hear it. Really quick, topped out around 120.

I had an 84 Magna with that exact same paint in 1986. It was a very smooth running and riding bike and it's a beautiful bike. I was stationed at Clark AB Philippines at the time and one day someone made a left turn in front of me and that was the end of the bike and almost took me out. Maybe I should try and find another one before I do get too old to ride.

Might be picking up an 84 that’s in good shape for $800 or less. Always liked these Jap-rods! I think the only OEM plus mod I’m gonna put on is a little higher mini ape hangers that allow for a more leaned forward comfortable chopper arm stretch. Then just ride, Maintain, and massage the crust off and wax the patina into it through the years.

Not sure what a Jap-rod is but, I had an 84 magna in 86 and they were called a boulevard cruiser.

      Thank you

The rear turn signals on my ‘82 have little chrome spacers between the fender and the rubber. I wonder if they changed that for ‘84 or if this just has some different signals on it.

I just bought a '84 Magna 700, 7018mi and I'm the second owner, guy I bought it from was the original owner. I haven't taken it out to ride since its a bit too cold and the carbs need to be balanced but I'm already in love with it.

@@williamrizzo1285 This is the story, as told by CycleChaos, "In the early eighties, Harley-Davidson claimed that Japanese manufacturers were importing motorcycles into the US in such volume as to harm or threaten to harm domestic producers. After an investigation by the US International Trade Commission, President Reagan imposed in 1983 a 45% tariff on imported bikes and bikes over 700 cc engine capacity. Harley Davidson subsequently rejected offers of assistance from Japanese motorcycle makers. In 1983, many of the Japanese and other foreign manufactures dropped engine sizes from 750cc to 700cc in what has become known as the "Harley tariff". US President Ronald Reagan imposed a 45 percent tariff over a five-year period on the import of Japanese motorcycles, improving Harley-Davidson's ability to compete against high-quality foreign manufacturers as the last U.S. motorcycle manufacturer."

My health ain’t up to being to handling owning one again. But I am curious as to what you sold that for. I hope the owner appreciates it.

I do not believe they came with a cruise control or lock on the throttle, did they? My zip code is 72756 and I would like to have this bike in my collection, I have an original 87' now and it runs great when all together, I am refurbishing it and rebuilding the carbs on it right now and will finish this week sometime when it warms up. Then it will be on the road along with me its rider.

Well, I think I just bought one of these. Guy had it for sale, said it was a 1985 V65, cool. Went to look at it, he said it was a 750, and had a 45 side cover. Okay, whatever sketchy. Look up the vin on the title, says it's a 1984. I have no clue what the engine size is, runs and drives, just needs new tires, 20k miles. Got it for 800? Did I get fucked? And I talked him down to 800 too

Hehe,..but as i remember, that 750's were small...made for Japanese people.. the 1100's were more likely to fit an U.S. person..
I couldn't like them,..nor buy them, - for that reason...gave me a reason to stick with U.S. bikes..
