    I do all these steps to make my make up last... and yes I learned it from you. But let me just add for those of us that have older dryer skin...after your done and you look dry... a good spray of the catrice dewy glow just bring enough moisture back in and it looks great. I use it not so much for setting but to take the dry and powdery look off. It’s perfect and you can totally wet your face with it and let it dry and BAM you look like younger healthy moisturized skin after all the powdering. It’s the bomb especially on us over 60 girls!
    Let me also add that even when you have a. Little flaking from your tretinoin that seems to come out sometimes when you powder... the dewy glow spray makes it melt back in... I can’t live without it... and it’s inexpensive... just a tip from your 64 year old fan!
    You can’t even imagine how much you e helped me Steph, thank you and God Bless you!

    Hey! This is a great video! Thanks for the thoroughness in explanation. I like the idea of using a damp sponge to meld the powder with the base. Idk why I hadn’t thought of that. I like way too many powders, haha. CT both pressed and loose. Laura Mercier finishing loose powder for setting and her illuminating pressed one. ItCosmetics loose powder for when I’m not taking pics but need more mattifying. Hourglass veil...and ambient ones as well. All so good and for different reasons. Looking forward to future videos. 🙌🏻

As somebody who has worked through the pandemic at the retail level and had to wear a mask every day my make up was always on the inside of my mask. I tried this technique the other day and absolutely no transfer! I was floored. I tried it again the next day and the same result. Unbelievable! Thank you thank you thank you! Hi Stephanie. Brown-skinned woman here who loves your channel! We seem to have the same combination skin type - somewhat oily but w dry areas too - and I use Laura Mercier as a setting powder and then ELF high definition as a finishing powder. Great video!

    • @jujubelooga
      @jujubelooga 2 года назад +1

      So, it doesn't look cakey then?

    • @antoinettechevalier2453
      @antoinettechevalier2453 2 года назад +2

      @@jujubelooga Hi Miss Mishra. Back when I was doing this method, it did not look cakey: I would only use the setting powder at oily areas; and the ELF finishing powder is super fine, so a light dusting over my whole face just blended everything nicely. Nowadays (2 years later!), I've stopped using all powders, for the most part -- just a bit of Laura Mercier for special occasions. I find that using a good primer ( Smashbox original formula) before I do my under-eye concealer (I don't use foundation), then a high-quality blending brush to smooth any harsh lines between contour, blush, etc is all I need. Good luck to you!

    Such a great informational video. I don't use setting spray either because they dry out my skin. My favorite setting powders these days are Laura Mercier, Coty airspun, hourglass, and Charlotte Tilbury Flawless finish. This is fantastic info Stephanie that so many need. It took me awhile to figure out the difference between the 2 types of powders, and was a game changer for me when I did !!!!! Unlike your skin tho, my skin is extremely dry and about 20 years older than yours LOL ;-) I do use a damp sponge to apply my setting powder. The only time it doesn't work quite as well, is if the foundation is very matte or a dryer formula. Then with a still damp sponge, I'll also spray the sponge with a hydrating setting spray, then press the powder in. Works like a charm !!!!
    Thanks so very much for a well thought out video with everything explained beautifully. Have a super wonderful week sweetie. Hugsss ❤❤❤❤

    Hi Stephanie, Well I tried it 2 days in a raw and I am really impressed , my makeup was locked in all day long what a difference my friend 😱 at the end of the day it was literally like I just did my makeup
    I didn’t purchase any powders because I am waiting for your list 😉 so I used ones that I already had: the Jeffree star setting powder in translucent and a nofilter finishing from NYX in medium, I am not convinced by the NYX one but the result is still amazing.
    I don’t think I can do my makeup in another way now 🤗
    This is one of the better trick I have ever tried and so easy to perform so thank you so much Stephanie ❤️
    Have a lovely day!

    Incredible how the finishing powder made everything muvh smoother. I normally use setting spray, but yeah, the alcohol is killing my skin.
    As for my favorite setting powder: Sensai Translucent Setting Powder. Hands down my favorite of all time, very finely mild, silky and doesn't disrupt my foundation. Haven't found anything remotely close.
    As for finishing powders... Well, I think I'm gonna have to find myself one.

I use setting spray to lock in my look and it helps very much with my combo oily skin plus I’m 58 years old. I never really like the feeling very much though. The thought of using a finishing powder and done, really appeals to me. So, I’ll keep my setting sprays because they work, but for everyday wear, I feel the finishing powder will work best for me. 😊👍

    Hi Stephanie, what a great video! It made me into a subscriber.. thank you! Your video made me realize that I was doing something right, powder-wise. My "look" has been evolving over the past few years. At first I was all about full coverage matte, now it is medium dewy. You have lead me in this direction. Dewy shear foundations that I "hated" at first, have resurfaced to become faves thanks to the techniques you share with us. I'm using the Tatty Blendafull to press in my setting powder. Very helpful video. I also prefer a dampened sponge to set my under eyes; I feel like since it’s damp it doesn’t leave a cakey look but it also helps keep the powder in place more than a brush. Love the Charlotte Tilbury powder for high-end and from the drugstore I like No. 7 translucent and Cody Airspun (minus the scent lol) and then the Hourglass Ambient powder to finish. Got the CT bc of your recommendation. Thanks Stephanie 😍👍

    I have normal to dry skin, and I find powders by By Terry, Glossier Wowder, and No. 7 are excellent (and span 3 price points). They set the makeup and are hydrating - so you don't look dry, powdery, and old. I avoided powders for years, and that was a mistake. Also, using the damp sponge to apply powders makes a huge, positive difference.

    I absolutely love to use the Charlotte tilbury pressed powder to set, and then the hourglass ambient lighting power in dim light to finish. Then I use the pixi hydrating milky mist as a setting spray. I get the creamiest, most flawless finish using these products.

      jennifer salgado what kind of brush are you using? Try a good quality natural hair brush. Squirrel hair will give you sheerest application but a goat hair will work too

    Haven’t tried a lot of new finishing powders lately, but my go to for about 3 years has been Bare Minerals mineral veil original.

    WOW! THANK YOU! I used your technique and I am blown away! My makeup looks so completely different, not powdery at all. It looks like I don't have powder on at all.
    Please do the video on your favorite setting powders and finishing powders. Thank you.

    Stephanie! Thank you and bless you! I watch many of your videos for us uh hm “more mature ladies”. I’ve watched many of your videos for us uh hm “more mature ladies” but have never commented before.
    I am very grateful to you for doing this video. I’ve ALWAYS loved make up. But about a year ago I started to notice the fine lines, etc. I’ve truly been blessed with very nice skin (even at 53), but started to realize that I needed to change my make up application game. Slowly, I have been trying to re-learn new techniques and application. My biggest (and only) problem is my under eyes.
    And I have to admit, I WAS a bit confused about powders because I’ve never had to use them in the past because again I’ve been blessed with nice skin.
    I can’t thank you enough for specifying the difference between powders and realize now that I need to get a finishing powder as I have a setting powder already.
    You are the best! Thank you so much for the info, step by step, it was VERY helpful!!

    I can’t wait to try this. It’s been driving me crazy that I just 👏🏼 can’t 👏🏼 keep 👏🏼 my under eyes from creasing and transferring mascara to save my life. Never tried using a damp sponge for my translucent powder. Fingers crossed!

      I just tried her technique for powder with a damp sponge and oh my God! Wow wee wow wee wow wee!I had no idea. As a person that has had to work through this entire pandemic and wear a mask every day my make up has always ended up all over my mask. I wear a double wear foundation and I just use a setting powder on top. I tried her technique with the sponge the other day and I had no transfer onto the mask whatsoever. Maybe a tiny bit on the bridge of my nose where it was under my glasses. I was so shocked that I actually applied more make up and more powder for the afternoon to try it again. Again no transfer mind blown…

    Ooh can you do a tutorial on your eye makeup? It’s so pretty! I have been using Laura mercier translucent loose setting powder to set and bare minerals perfecting powder, it’s the pressed one, as a finishing powder. I like to use well rested under my eyes, but I’m not sure if that is a setting powder or not so I still use my loose powder to set.

    thanks v much for explaining so well. im in my forties, i understood primers very easily n wow they make a big difference, thanks for explaining these new terms, im just use to cream/liquid foundation and then loose powder over it, no terms of setting nor finishing, just loose powder or compact powder n i was getting really confused by the terms setting and finishing.
