    Man, I hope the setback with your last channel doesn't slow you down. These lessons are incredible!

    Watching this again 6 months later…. With a bit more experience and a lot more practice. Great video. It always help me to watch back something I thought I understand to then notice I was applying maybe 15% of it🤦‍♂️.
    Oh well, adding up 15% here and there will eventually get me to 100% 😂

    This helps so much dude!! I think my head voice being quiet was because I wasn't using both areas at the same time when using head voice. Amazing🤘

    This video is priceless! Man you got even better, explaining things with more clarity than before. Possibly the best discussion of vocal technique on RUclips.

    Excellent mate. Rehearsing this p.m. in the living room ironically for a gig on Saturday, and youve come to my aid and solved a few problem notes or moments where I could have easily started yodelling.

    Hey I’m so sorry to hear what happened to your channel. From one voice teacher to another, I really hope you have success on this channel. I loved that you touched on harmonic overtones and formants. I specialize in Transvoice myself, I’d love to network with you if you’d be up for it :)

      Thanks - understanding frequencies at least on a practical level is paramount to singing well, but especially to teaching others. All the best - K

    Keegan, I’m glad I found this video… Remember me from a couple days ago I was asking you in one of your other great videos how to sing forward and back at the same time… and I don’t mean to criticize but this is the video you should’ve directed me to for my answer. Either way, you are one of the best for sure!

    Hi Kegan, appreciate the lesson, hope you can eventually re-upload and / or make new videos for How to sing with Drive (Classic Rock Distortion, Grit and Gravel)

    Hi Kegan. I really enjoy your video’s and I learn a lot. I’m kinda of new to the theoretical side of this, so forgive me my maybe ignorant question. But: is the first formant always in the throat and the second in (the front of) the mouth? Or do back vowels like AA have the second formant in the back and the first in the mouth?
    Hope you can clarify this for me :-)

    Amazing lesson as always. What do you think about singers with a darker tone? I'd love to see you make an analysis/reaction about the sounds/wowel usage of lewis capaldi or the weekend.

    • @FoundationVocalStudio
      @FoundationVocalStudio  Год назад

      I think Lewis Capaldi as a telling example of what eventually happens to you when you're not getting it right - he could barely sing those songs even in his 'prime', and it's downhill from there. Can't really see myself doing a video about The Weeknd. Best - K

    Hi Kegan! Thanks a lot for this video. When I try to sing high notes in a relaxed way, it feels a little bit like inhaling, but of course I am not. Would you say, this feeling is to be expected when singing back?

    • @FoundationVocalStudio
      @FoundationVocalStudio  Год назад +1

      In classical terms, it's called "Inhalare La Voce" (inhaling the voice) - this feeling is subjective, but, sure, if that works for you - go for it.

      It's something I can do and have played around with, but isn't really something I use or teach.

  • @MinhNguyen-ip4rj

    hello Keegan, great video. I have a question, in the video you said forward placement and twang are different things, how are they different? and can we sing with just one of them?

    • @FoundationVocalStudio
      @FoundationVocalStudio  Год назад +1

      They're different frequencies - twang is about 1k, and forward placement is about 3k. If you're singing correctly, they're both always there, but in varying amounts. Some might say there's "necessary" twang and also "stylistic" twang at varying degrees. Forward placement is always a positive for the voice, and you should strive to achieve it - hence why every coach in the history of voice training has at some point spoken of placement, or at least singing bright and brassy. Best - K

    • @FoundationVocalStudio
      @FoundationVocalStudio  Год назад +2

      No, the old studio videos are gone unfortunately. I'll do another at some point - that video seemed to upset a lot of people somehow, so perhaps I'll do it in a roundabout way.

    Do we use twang even on low notes? Example when we sing in our chest register?

    • @FoundationVocalStudio
      @FoundationVocalStudio  Год назад +1

      Yes, absolutely! There's a difference between the amount of 'necessary' twang and more more 'stylistic' twang, it doesn't have to be heaps, but it definitely needs to be there in your frequencies - K

    hey, is normal the larynx raise up when singing higher than D5 right?

    • @FoundationVocalStudio
      @FoundationVocalStudio  Год назад +1

      Not really - there's a tilt in the larynx through the centre of your range, but it really should be neutral into your higher range. I'd look at your vowels if this is happening, and also the tone you're aiming for.

    • @LifeEnjoyer4251
      @LifeEnjoyer4251 Год назад

      @@FoundationVocalStudio Shit, I thought it was totally normal, but my vowels seems to be correct, I will see again. Thanks for your help
