You might want to do the entire job with just cement all. It’s worked great for me but, I do live in a tropical zone. Maybe in colder areas it may work different. Also, a cement sealer would stop water from getting in your cement in the winter to where it freezes at night and the water inside the cement expands and breaks it as it freezes. I did use a hard float to spread it, not a brush because cement all hardens very fast. It’s the best cement I’ve ever seen. I too watch Mike Haduck, he’s the best!
Thanks for the comment. Mike is the best. I had a lot of Portland left over so I thought I’d give this a try. I won’t be using Portland going forward. I did another section with Cement All Mortar mix sponged on and it comes out much much better. Even in North Jersey it makes it through a few winters. See my other video. Cement All finishes really nice IMO as well
@@tsmmaelmwoodpark978 like your video and will see the other one you informed me. I also thank all the people that make videos on sharing and helping others get things done. Masons are now scarce and people need to do simple things on their own. “Keep up the good work!”
It amazes me how much ppl pay for products like newcrete when goid Ole Portland works like a champ for stuff like this. I wouldn't even be surprised if that's all those products are
Ummm, did you get it wet? "If its not wet, it won't stick"-Mike the Magic Mason I'm still at the learning and observing stage, so dont get me wrong, no judgement here.
Please watch my other videos. I had a lot of Portland left over from a project so I tried it. Portland does not last as a coating. Rapid Set mortar mix or Cement All are much better products than Portland. Beware, they cure quick and dry white.
@@billwilliams4877 Rapid Set Mortar mix has held up very very well on the school steps with heavy trafic, may not be this video. The side steps in the beginning of this video are good with just Portland but little to zero traffic on those. The front of the church has held up good but in full sun it doesn't look good, too bright.
Definitely looked good wet and this will get you through the winter but needs to be done every year. Not using Portland going forward. Rapid set mortar mix with same application and that will last a few winters

Looks good. I'm watching a hundred videos getting ready for Spring projects. Peace out

A lot of people miss a simple step of using Acryl60 or similar instead of water, or 1:1 dilute. Bond and durability are increased substantially.
Mike haduck would say "dont make a big deal out of it," then tell you to get dirt out of his dads garden to stain the fresh cement.
I will do a follow up video on this project to show how it has held up.
Thats all it is, just paint it. No big deal!
Would it be ok to make the paint a bit thicker to smooth out the concrete driveway over some heavy spalding? like adding sand say 1 to 1?

Buy rapid set mortar mix. Mix a small amount at a time and work fast. Much more durable for your overlay
I’m just here looking for Mike Haduck to chime in. Good job. Eddie the Glazier, mason Handyman, from CLARK.
Me too. Will be doing a follow up on this in the coming weeks and a recoat but not with Portland
Hi,
I wonder , if you flood the dried portland cement with a liquid resin or use it instead of water ,would it endure longer ?
What about the mud trick?
How does it hold up to power washing
No good. Use Rapid Set Mortar mix and you will have better, longer lasting results. See my other videos
So was the sponge brush better than the Mason brush?
I like the sponge float better, let's you really work it in.

Thank you for your video 👌💕
It’s not rocket science. Just Portland. Wet the surface and brush it on. No big deal.
Thanks for the video! After one year, how has it aged ?

Put SBR in your mix it will go rock solid .
I switched to Rapid Set mortar mix for repairs like this. Much better imo.
hey mister, you sure done a good job on that. what kind of brush is that?
You can find the brush in the paint aisle at Home Depot. I really didn’t use it for this project as the sponge float worked much better. Good luck
You should have made the cement onto a slurry
How has it held up?

Is there some type of sealant, etc one can apply for disability?
@@davidjavids2431 I'm not sure what you are asking? Do you mean to be anti slip?
Good enough for the neighborhood
Should have resurfaced it , then paint with Portland and water , no matter how much foot traffic , would last long time
"Freakin truck, ruining my video. Unbelievable...So here's our dry portland"
😆Cracked me up, man
Can you add glue to the cement mix?
Westcoat MA coat would work great
There's a video quick one below this entitled concrete milk. That would be wonderful on top of the work you just did.
haaahhhaa the palm
That's not Mike; not our Mike; I don't believe it was.
That's not mike
U cant fill with cement water
It has no body
Always looks better wet
It'll look like hell 2moro😂
