    1 cup water but sometimes it takes more water
    3 teaspoons fresh ground pepper
    1/2 cup turmeric
    1/3 cup coconut oil
    1 Tbsp Ceylon Cinnamon
    1 tsp Ginger
    Cook water and turmeric together on low medium for about 7-8 min. If it gets too thick add a little more water. You want it like a thick peanut butter consistency.

    Brilliant ideas. Amazon UK sells chocolate coffee bean silicone moulds which I have ordered. The cost of organic turmeric supplements are escalating so this is a great way to make your own with the knowledge of knowing exactly what is in them.

    Thankyou so much for this video. I live in Melbourne so I'm off to pick up a mat and the other supplies to make some of these. Your video makes it seem easy and also economical to make turmeric a part of my everyday life. Making Turmeric Paste and freezing into individual pills. The mat I am using was purchased at KMART Australia for $5.00 it is a silicone baking mat by HOMEMAKER I understand TARGET U.S.A. has a similar one in the dish draining area. And at BED BATH AND BEYOND is this one Dexas® Elevated Silicone Cooking Mat. Just please be sure to use a mat with round shapes as the pyramid one results in pills with sharp corners but if its only one you can find it's still ok just will need to let your pills sit for a few minutes to soften the corners. Otherwise use the bag, squeeze, method it works great as well. People are also ordering the coffee bean mold from amazon that works well. The recommended dosage to start is 1/4 tsp. twice a day with food so that would be 2 of this size pill. Then slowly increase until you feel the results. I now take 8 of these twice a day with food so that is 1 teaspoon twice a day and Its great but we are not all alike so when you reach 1 teaspoon twice a day then continue with that dosages for a few weeks to see if it is the right dose for you. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me.... Category Howto & Style License

    Thanks for the recipe, it was very easy. Like most I couldn’t find a mat that looked like yours so I ordered the pyramid mat. They are a good size for sprinkling in your food, but they were difficult for me to swallow as pills and I had to learn the hard way the manual method with the peaks will scratch your throat. I had a silicone oven mit/hot pad with mini hexagon shapes and tried that. They make mini little hexagon tabs that I love to sprinkle on my hot food. You can by a set of 4 on Amazon for $13 and they have other shapes as well. I found a mat that looks like yours on the picture but haven’t received it yet, it was also on Amazon for about $7, no shipping charge, by lalang. It says pyramid baking mat, but the picture shows circles, we shall see.

    So much easier to take a teaspoon of the paste and put it in some milk of your choice heat it up, when warm put a tablespoon of honey in a mug add the milk, stir and enjoy its delicious, golden milk much better than trying to eat that stuff like that. I have a mug after dinner and it makes a wonderful substitution for dessert!

      Eliene thank you for watching my video. Yes I keep mine in the freezer because i can't use it all up in the two weeks from the fridge. In the freezer it lasts 3 months or more. Yes you can swallow them straight from the freezer, but how I take mine is I take out how many pills I am going to take sit them on a dish on the counter while i make my breakfast which usually takes me about 3 or so minutes then i take the pills right before my first bite of food or first swallow of my morning smoothy if that's what I'm having. Hope that answers your question, if you have any more please ask. Have a great day. Regards, Anita

      Ceylon is a 'True' Cinnamon and is better for you when using a small regular doses as when used within golden paste. Cinnamon contains a natural plant chemical called Caumarin which can have a negative effect on the liver and kidneys and also acts as a blood thinner. Caumarin is found in much higher doses in Cassia cinnamon so not good if using daily. Before you panic about cinnamon altogether check out the following link. Ceylon is harder to find than Cassia (online sources only found so far) but the benefits are worth it. www.livestrong.com/article/516598-the-health-benefits-between-ceylon-cinnamon-and-cassia/

Great source of minerals that we all lack and would otherwise go down the garbage dispisal. Thank you

    Great video!
    I have a few questions if I may. My turmeric says "certified organic raw" this means I have to cook it for 30 min, correct? This is what the website said. To do this I had to add a lot more water and it ended up smoother than yours so my coconut oil didn't mix as well, it's still smooth but I have to stir it. Do you think it's still good to use? I dont mind the taste and I put it on some waffles this morning. Will it be ok if I left some out over night so that's it's soft in the morning to use like butter? I wouldn't leave out the full container, just a small jar with a tablespoon or two.

    I have been putting turmeric in my morning shakes to help with Arthritis pain, am now off any meds for this, and have just learned about making a drink at night using the turmeric, to help me sleep. I did this last night and slept really well. My question is, if it helps with sleep should I be consuming it in the morning? Also, can I use the already ground pepper from the store or do I need to use peppercorns and grate them myself? Aren't the two the same? ....and how much pepper should I be using?, I put approx 1 heaping tsp of turmeric in my shake in the a.m.~~Thank you.

    • @anitaelias1601
      @anitaelias1601  8 лет назад

      Anna Gregg thank you for your questions. Firstly are you making the golden turmeric paste and putting in your shake? And in your night time drink? Reason I am asking is from all my research turmeric being a starch needs to be heated to open the starches and making it able to absorb water then needs the cold pressed organic fat such as what i use coconut oil in order to make the turmeric bio available for your body to process it properly and the pepper yes it needs to be ground fresh as the pepper has an enzyme called piperine that starts to loose its potency once it's been ground/ so no store bought already ground is not the same benefit. The piperine in the fresh ground peppercorns is added to the turmeric golden paste to extend its uptake and length of time it remains in your blood. i make the above paste into pills and freeze then i now take 12-16 of these pills every morning they are small enough that i can swallow 4 to 5 at a time. And having osteoarthritis i now go to the gym 2 hours 5 days a week. i do not have any pain at all. if the way you are taking your turmeric is working for you then thats great. oh and i take mine in the morning some take it in the morning and then at night they make what is called golden milk with the turmeric and oil and milk of any kind and say it does help them to relax and sleep. So as for how much pepper you need to add to your shake if you are simply adding turmeric powder I honestly do not know maybe a few twists of the grinder will do. Give it a try and see if after a few days or so you notice a difference in the length of time you are getting relief from your pain.

    • @annagregg8401
      @annagregg8401 8 лет назад

      It was only yesterday that I saw your video saying that the turmeric needed to be heated. In my shake I put the organic turmeric approx 1 heaping tsp, along with cold pressed virgin, melted, coconut oil and other healthy organic ingredients. I have been putting regular store bought pepper in it, not realizing that it wasn't the same as piperine in the fresh ground peppercorns. Where is the best place to buy these, grocery store or ? I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have been consuming the shakes for many months, my pain is quite a lot less. I will make the paste you suggest and see if I feel even better. I do still wonder about drinking it both in the a.m. and p.m....what is in the night drink that makes us sleepy and wouldn't that also be in the morning drinks, wouldn't having it in the a.m. make us sleepy in the day? Thank you for your prompt response and advice. Blessings, ~Anna

    • @anitaelias1601
      @anitaelias1601  8 лет назад +1

      Anna, One of the reasons it might help to relax and have a good night sleep is if you are using cow's milk which has a form of magnesium which is a mineral that helps to relax. Remember our mothers warming a glass of milk for us at night if we were having a hard time settling. Do you have Facebook? if you do there is a group called Turmeric User Group which was started by a Vet in Australia which and has a huge amount of information as well as lots of members who can help answer any questions for animals and humans lol. I live in Australia so I get my peppercorns from a spice shop. But I would think whole foods or sprouts or any health food store would carry whole BLACK peppercorns. So if you have access to facebook please join the group. And please don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions I will help if I can. Cheers, Anita

    Have you checked into what might happen to the quality, strength of the paste when it's frozen? I've always heard that freezing breaks food down and destroys some effectiveness. I love the video and your notes. I ordered the mat you suggested, thank you very much for the link!

    • @anitaelias1601

      this is what Dr. Doug English says about freezing your golden paste. I personally have never taken it any other way other than frozen I tried fresh GP but just couldn't get pass the taste. I hope this helps a bit to answer your question. It should be fine at least for 6 months or even 12 but that depends on the quality of freezing provided by your freezer. Commercial freezers often have a continual temperature graph so you can tell the freezing quality which is good.

      Heat exposure increases solubility of curcumin in water by 12 folds.
      Heat exposure increases solubility of turmeric in water by 3 folds.
      Curcumin degrades within 30 mins at normal body temperature, heat exposure protects curcumin from such degradation and stabilizes it.
      Cooking turmeric with oil at 100 degree Celsius increases its bioavailabilty.
      Cooking turmeric at high temperatures (above 100 degree celsius) degrades curcumin to compounds which have better or equipotent medicinal property.
