I'm old enough that when I was a kid and you'd walk into Disneyland the song you'd hear playing as you entered Main Street was Zipp-e-Dee-Do-Da. We loved Song of the South and we loved Uncle Remus. We didn't see him as a slave or uneducated at all. What was cool about him was that he walked with and talked to animated characters. There was no hate behind it. I continue to collect physical media and the used bookstores are the treasure troves for finding the classics and things like X-Men. I have a VHS of Aladdin which I believe still has the original lyrics to Arabian nights! And frankly, I don't have the room. But I have plenty of boxes to put them in until I do have the room!
Hey Professor. I've been collecting as much physical media (DVDs, Blu-ray, video games, CD's, books, comics) as I can lately. Thrift stores are a good place to find some nuggets. There's also local businesses I shop for physical media. I'm thankful to have gotten a physical copy of the Fox X-Men series a while back.
I must read fahrenheit 451, I imagine that's why the oral storytelling tradition was so important in the past. No printing press or mass media, just stone carved or carefully crafted scribe paper that could easily be torched or stolen under under threat of sword. I like the idea of not only holding on the dvd or book but the story within and passing it on 👍
I wish I bought more of the stuff that DMC had that was the old school Walt era media modern Disney doesn’t care about AT ALL. (The unremarkable CEOs really don’t care about the old live action features even though they’re great). Before I’ve only bought the ones I really care about enough to watch multiple times. Now I wish I’d been preserving them. I really hope that Sony will provide decent physical media.
They have been getting rid of the physical programs I use to make math exams. They are now all becoming subscription services. I have bought my own CD’s of those programs and am now the envy of the math department. lol.
I got the 97 X-men series nearly six years ago because I knew they would eventually get around to change what came before. The only way they can force their twisted vision of culture on us is if there is nothing to refute their claims in terms of media, history, and original data.
Hey Prof, regarding a 4K version of the original X-Men series, I doubt they will release something like that since the transfer process is really expensive, in addition I doubt Disney would spend the time on it given their past history of tranfers (ie. Pirates 1 is regarded as one of the worst transfers in history) This would most likely would be a re-release DVD (probably edited like you said) or a lackluster blu ray set. My personal hope would be having a boutique label like Shout Factory or Mill Creek to release X-Men in its original state with loads of special features like they did with series like Bionic Woman, Red Dwarf, Farscape, Gravity Falls, Transformers (80s) and etc. Anyways enjoy the insightful content and great to see another physical media supporter :)
There're people who act like they're superior because they "live in the future" but don't realise that its the most dystopian future possible.

This is exactly why I made sure to acquire physical copies of Tropic Thunder, Meet the Feebles, The Last Dragon, and (lucky find) Song of the South.
Kino Lorber's got a nice 4K transfer of Tropic Thunder and check out the Steelbook of Last Dragon; beautiful 4K transfer on that as well
Teah
Great points prof. I’ll tell my wife I must continue to collect comics!😂
Prof's orders!
I’ve always been this way! Physical is king!

Good for you! What do they do when the wifi is down?
*CDs. You're a teacher, and you don't know proper punctuation? Pathetic.

Well said!
Great episode my friend. God bless and keep up the great work.
"god" isn't real.
Remember to keep the disks in decent temperature and low humidity. Disk rot is real.
Lol
Yeah
Indeed it’s good to reexperience content with audiences
Yeah, I get the feeling this is a trap. Nice points.
Question:
What is your opinion on donating one's collection of DVD's and Blu-Rays to the library?
I wouldn’t. They won’t take very good care of it. And might even toss it. I would sell it.
*DVDs. Punctuation is hard.
First time seeing your actual face
Yeah, I get the feeling this is a trap. Nice points.
