There are a few reasons why I collect Blu Rays and the odd DVD and they are
    1. better video and audio
    2. they can't censor the movie or TV show
    3. I can watch them at any time without fear of the movie or show being removed from that said streaming service
    4. I don't have to keep a subscription in order to watch them
    5. the extra's that you can''t get on the streaming service

I didn't even want to get into the weeds of comparing streaming quality to the actual quality of a blu-ray/4K UHD disc.

The same can be done with a Plex or Jellyfin server which is way more convenient anyway. I can see why people enjoy collecting DVD's and Bluray's though.

HEAVY on the censor part.. they can always do that stuff but if you have the physical copy, you own the original finally cut

What are we going to have in the houses of the future? Empty shelves? Physical media is a pleasure to collect, play and display. I love my DVDs and I love looking at them, too :-)

I sure hope not, it's like a house without books, no one wants that.

I just went back into collecting after selling some rare DVD's i owned. Some i may never even recover, but i got into a facebook DVD auction group and have been getting a few movies i never even onwned before like the 5th element. Now it's the time to do it because it seems a lot of people are waking up to this reality and the prices are still pretty low for most movies, so you better do it now...

Physical media preserves the art rather than just the movie. Streaming service actually do not put up some older titles due to licensing issue and viewers are forever not exposed to really good movies.

I started collecting physical media years ago. I bought external hard drives- discs not unlike a bluray disc except they hold much more data. On this physical media i store 1200 films, hundreds of tv shows, thousands of music albums, documentaries, etc…my collection that continues to grow.
    Physical media is great.
    Inefficiency and stupidity is not.

Greetings from great Britain...over the last 6 years ive built up a great collection of CDS (probably about 2500) and hundreds of DVDS...a lot of boxsets....and a few Blurays...all pretty cheap...after a lull in my collecting for 6 months there wete a few boxsets i fancied...much to my dismay...it seem (probably due to RUclips channel guys showing off their collections and extolling the virtues of physical media)...the prices have risen considerably...BAH!!!...LOL...so i snapped up the ones missing from my collection before everyone gets on the bandwagon.....bargains can still be have from charity shops......only yesterday i bought 5 Blurays for £1. From my local charity shop (you call them "goodwill " shops in America)...im glad i built up my collection when people were offloading their CDS DVDS for peanuts...that said i did worry about if it becomes obsolete what happens if they stop making Bluray players...so the rise in physical media is ultimately a good thing....i do stream Netflix with adverts for general viewing with my wife...but stuff i really like such as hammer horror...and other "classic" great films....or 60s/70s/80s TV show....i want a copy....with all the nice artwork....extras.......................commentaries booklets...etc.....

Luckily us RUclipsrs don't seem to be able to influence the market on Blu-rays and 4Ks as much as they do for video games.

I sincerely love your point on film preservation. The average person in society wouldn't even have that thought ever even cross their minds. For the die hard movie lovers though it is really important. A lot of my fav films are obscure movies that are hard to find on streaming. Heck many haven't even been on Blue Ray yet and some never even made it past vhs!
Just like music which is my other love i will always collect physical media and one day if all the digital formats crash then the party will definitely be at my place. 😀 \m/

One of the main reasons why I am not having 1000's of discs with me right now is the money factor. I am from India , Everything here is imported so the cost is goddamn high. If a new movie is 30$ in the US here it is 50$. There are zero collections too, these amazon local sellers buy random stuffs. If I need to buy a specific movie even with 50$ it wont be there.

OK, and? Some of us want to live like we are actually human. Physical media is superior.

Theres a high level of "anxiety" in losing access to content, but we must accept this is part of life. This idea of "they cannot take it away from you" is to heavy for an individual to bear. I'm all in for preservation efforts on the entertainment industry, voters should push for political measures on this regard.

I used to, in the VHS days. Guess what happens, you run out of room. Do I still buy Blu Rays, occasionally, if I know I will rewatch it. The Thing I got on 4K just recently. But then again, its the storage of it. And as well, like any collection, when you die, the people you leave behind need to deal with it. I 100% know movies get changed for streaming, I have side by side proof compared to a blu ray. But Im also to the point of, meh, whatever, I have more important things in life to worry about. But if you dont want to worry about room, go to your local library, rip a DVD and put it on Plex. Cant be edited since its not streaming, and you have the cut thats meant to be

Hey Hunter Bolding Video when do you think Family Guy Seasons 18-22 and beyond are ever getting physical media releases and can Sony release them since they are handling Disney and Fox's physical media releases and all that stuff

    • @HunterBoldingVideo
      @HunterBoldingVideo  2 месяца назад

I'm not sure about them, and it seems like Disney is still calling the shots on what gets released on physical; Sony is just doing the distribution.
