-transform into the illusion of a monster around her as an intimidation tactic
-straight up turn her into a monster
CALM OR SUBDUED CHARACTERS WITH THE MOST UNHINGED POWERS ARE MY FAVES
How about both? Maybe it's a spirit that can manifest as an illusion while also being able to cover her to form a monster armor

For some reason I imagine the lunar moth’s hat being a fully alive creature with a bunch of pointy legs that just cling to her head because the hat has a dog’s level of separation anxiety

Maybe the witches could be more of a neutral power! Not necessarily good or bad, maybe not as a whole but the witches choose what they represent when theyre powerful enough? Just the vibe I get from them
I feel like the name 'Rouge' fits for Scarlet because it too is a red name and is an anagram for 'rogue' which fits into this particular character's architype!
Keep Rosie, Selene for the lunar and Carmine for Scarlet
And idk why but in my very high mind rn I imagine Selene and Carmine as a divorced couple that dislike eachother and are only drawn back together by their desire to teach their ward (found family) Rosie magic for whatever reason

I totally feel like Lunar and Scarlett are an enemies to lovers type thing - I could totally see Rosie as not having parents and stuff and having a whole parent/trap esc plot line at one point 💀 Just ya know ✨these are my parents now✨ vibes. This has 100% got me down a rabbit-hole on ideas for my own characters in the most round about unrelated way so thank you for that unintentionally
lore for this world.... the witches collect remnants of the goddesses "light" which was left behind on earth when the gods separated from the wolrd and took on thier perfered forms and the knights are made to regulate the witches because some of them stray from the path of the gods and use the light fior devious things (gem villians)... or the gods light gives light to certain things on earth like rocks and gems and stuff so the gods created witches to regulate and help with the developement of the "enlightened" (things brought to life by god's light) because i imagine the enlightened dont just become full humaoids like maybe the gemstone enlightened started as rocks and then rocks with faces and then lil rocky golemns and then they slowly evolve into your designs and the witches jobs are to help with this evolution process by taking the enlightened as familiars for a breif time until they are fully formed then that would leave the knights to be protectors of the witches (who were only designed with magic in mind the gods didnt think about how they would protect them selves (of course they have offesive spells but are still vulnerable to attacks)) and the villians are enlightened who believe that they are the best or somethign and that only stones should me enlightened or that the witches are evil (i didnt include the other designs cause i have to go back and whatch those vids)
Personally, Luna and Scarlet are married and they were taking a walk through the woods and found Rosie clumsily practicing magic and decided to teach her

I love the characters themselves (and the DESIGNS, omg), the whole mentors + pupil dynamic is SO GOOD!! I could totally see this partnership with luna and scarlet being hilarious and wholesome in an actual show of some sort. great work!!

With the Luna design I love the idea of the eyes on the birch aligning with the eyes on her outfit. I feel like she often watches people from afar, catching Scarlet and the Rosie in mischief

I enjoy this series very much. Even when you don’t like them you still are willing to post and share your process on each character. Really helps me with not worrying about the first design not looking the best for my characters. Getting it done is more important so you know how to improve it for later. Really enjoy your work. ♥️
I love the headcanon that the scarlett moth is name Scarlett and wants everyone to call him Scar ('cause he thinks it's badass). But everyone is just confused by the name change, so they continue to call him Scarlet.

As soon as I saw the Eddie Munson in your Pinterest board, I had to pause and giggle to myself. He has been living rent free in my brain, I’ve also been experiencing Eddie Munson brainrot. I’ve been a little obsessed with the Kas!theory and the fact that Klaus was also an inspiration for the scarlet moth character was awesome. He is one of my favourite umbrella academy characters.
I loved the concept of this video and it just completely reminded of my character Hope who is a moth based character who is the elemental of Insouciance and the Sun (their label basically) and they manipulate a lot of lights-they basically hyperfixate on stuff like glitter and lanterns way too much which is hilarious alluding to the stuff that happens in my book.
Name wise I think the name for the Rosy moth could be Acer which is the genus of the maples (trees and shrubs)
The Luna moth could be Elara which is the name of one of Jupiter’s moons named after a princess in Greek mythology.
I think you should stick with Scarlet for the name for the Scarlet moth cuz it fits tho.

Rosy: Chrysi (after chrysanthemums)
Luna: Fabasceae (a group of plants home to most nuts, also known as legumes)
Scarlet: Rowan (Means little read-haired one, which considering he's a bit of a child at heart and has read hair fits him, but also refers to the tree.)
Also, if you need some concepts as to how this amalgamation of concepts can be a story or world that the characters fit into, perhaps these characters are minor gods and goddesses. The elements would be like the head gods or divine nobility, and these moth characters could be minor gods that answer to Earth. Alongside the flower and tree characters. Maybe the sky ones would work for air and the gems could be a case by case basis (Eg Obsidian and Fire Opal being for fire, and Pearl for Water). And because the moths have relatively minor roles, they need to use plants for their spells rather than being able to cast them on command. This kind of makes them very technically intelligent, though a little lacking in the wisdom department.

Luna: Freya, she is a nature goddess in norse mythology. She is very strong and even with luna’s burn out teacher vibe it suits her pretty well
Rosie: Basil, just herb. Also wanted to make clarification pronounced bay-sil not baa-sil. Suits her well and she is a witch and witches make potions with stuff so herbs ya know?
Scarlet: Silva, means literally just forest, and usually is a surname, but i thought it would fit him well.
I love hearing how you tie ideas together to make cohesive concepts and designs, it always gets my creative juices flowing. Since both of the mentors kind of have to do with deception of prey, perhaps they’re teaching Rosie about illusion magic, or tricks of the light, as well. I think their link to plants could be really cool too considering that plants need light to live and grow. Maybe their magic and the magic system was created by the magical girl characters because of their connections to sky and therefore light. Loved this week’s

Love the names Rosie, Luna, and Scarlett for this crew. Fab designs and backstory. One commenter suggested the hat is nervous and has separation anxiety; maybe that gets better as Luna's own anxiety and confidence improve? You said you're not a writer, but you are an excellent storyteller in your character design videos, and you write a good script!
I'd also love to see you come back to these characters some day. It'd be funny if Scarlet was Rosie's actual Uncle, which is one of the reasons he butts heads with Luna, but they both have her best interests at heart and they're genuinely trying to help her grow as a witch and a person. I'd also love to see more moths! Edit: OR other insects?! Dun DUN Duuuun... Maybe it's a slice of life comedy overall so no true villains, just some friends and rivals? Either way, I love your designs! You put a lot of thought into them and it shows. :D

To make a power system for moths going cuckoo for light bulbs, maybe they guide their magic with moon/starlight and nearby light like candles, fires, and light bulbs make it more unpredictable.
Overloaded navigation systems is why moths love lights in the first place, and Scarlet could use his lamp as a way to rapidly shift his spells' properties in exchange for the chance of them going haywire.
Luna, being more orderly, prefers the surety of pure moonlight (also... because that's her name)

Luna moth: Hecate (Greek goddess of magic and witchcraft)
Rosy Maple moth: Rosalie (because it has the word Rose in it (-:)
Scarlet Wasp moth: Salem (as in the town in Massachusetts known for the witch trials in the late 1600’s)

These designs are so cool and creative! I think Mona would be a good name for the luna moth, simply because I picture her having a very dramatic accent and it would sound cool when she says it. It also means "my lady" in Greek which I think is very elegant. For the scarlet moth, I think he would be the kind of guy that has an average name like Lesley but he uses a really dramatic and intense nickname like Bane or something, and Mona is the only one who calls him by his actual name. And, honestly, Rosie is a perfect name for the rosy maple moth already. Keep up the good work! Your art is really inspiring to me.
These are all so GORGEOUS omg......... I'm imagining like a goofy/spooky kinda story that turns a little darker with themes of found family and learning to embrace ur uniqueness??? Maybe Scarlet and Luna butt heads over the best way to teach Rosie magic but she teaches them that everyone is different and she develops her own unique style of magic thats a combination of both Luna and Scarlets styles????? Very much owl house or amphibia style story i think. Theyre REALLY cool I love these guys a ton

Thought Kira did a great job with balancing colours within each design, & pulling on their trees for the cool staffs! Would've loved to see all 3 characters be male or nonbinary (inc. the Luna in their magnificent gown!) just to really challenge some of those very outdated gender stereotypes around who can wear pink, dresses etc....?

I just watched your most recent moth witch video and loved it so much I had to hunt down this older one and see the original moth witches. I do like the newer ones a little more but these designs are so cool. Especially Scarlet he's so flipping hot! Definitely think guys in corsets should be a thing again. Luna's dress pintrest board was so on point, I have all those on my own favs pintrest board. Her dress is gorgeous!

i love these designs so much! i think some names for them would be Floris for the pink moth (I can't remember the specific name), Lyra for the luna moth, and Nyx for the scarlet moth.
i love the scarlet moth design so much because punk and metalhead fashion is so fun to play with for character design, and you are right, us punks and metalheads can be very nice despite our looks :)

I feel like Luna and Scarlet definitely had a crush on the same guy when they were young adults learning at the witch academy, and they stop talking to each others after that. Now years later, they have to team up for teaching Rosie, and just the AWKWARDNESS of that would be the epitome of juicy.

I think the only reason Scarlett’s has the green broom and the white flowers on his hat is because Rosie grew them then gave them as a gift for her gratitude for him and his teaching with the encouragement from Luna she gave them to him because I feel like he can be a little bit grumpy so I feel like she gave them to him to get him out of a mood

I love moths, I love moth people, and I love any and everything to do with moths. Potential idea: character designs based on caterpillars, or mantids.
I'm late to the party but how about sea slugs like glaucus atlanticus for some really colourful fun designs? And on the completely other end, there are so many bat species with beautiful shaped noses and ears, you could use the loops and swirls to inspire some really cool fantasy armour ideas? Mostly earth tones, but there are some new shades of rust and white in there, like lasiurus borealis or the honduran white bat (which is the cutest thing ever).
This was such a cool video, love your ideas when it comes to merging elements together. Luna moth was my fave, but also loves the inspo for the wasp moth! Rosy has the best colour palette, rosy maples are so so adorable!

god am I LOVING this series! as for the characters, i think Aster/Asterius would work for scarlet (mostly cuz i aDORE Chinese red asters), and for the maple moth maybe Lantana or Camara? its a type of really pretty yellow + pink flower that grows in my hometown

So since moths thing are like disguise they all could have some form of illusion magic like Lunas dress could turn into an actual monster or scarlets coat could turn into little bugs and Rosie’s neck fluff gusts of maple tree leaves and each witch has their own specialty like Luna is good in the potion department and scarlet is good with the spell aspect (or maybe flying cus he gives like a fast flying fairy vibe from tinker bell) and maybe Rosie is undecided this is probably really long I just really love your characters and their stories and magic seems so cool 🤩

Maybe Stella/Stellaria for the Luna moth character? It sounds celestial but Stellaria is also the name of a plant- better known as chickweed (the plant itself somewhat fits their coloring too)
