    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  Год назад

      Yup! A little tricky but works good. The old struts came out the same way. They dropped immediately. Suspension design on this model called for longer strut length than the suspension droop for some reason. 😃🔧

    I bought Monroe for mine because they did not have a KYB complete assembly for my car in the Excel-G (KYB-GR2) and I got tiered of trying to figure out if the ones I was seeing were better or worse quality etc etc etc. Just got Monroes.

    How much should I be expecting to pay for two rear strut replacements and labor + parts

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  2 месяца назад

      Parts costs vary. High quality KYB struts and links probably 300-400 ish. Labor varies by vehicle and location. Probably 2-300 ish. You may need an alignment. 100ish. There are too many variables to nail it down. But a rough guess 600-1000

    Any ideas on how how to Jack the strut up so that it doesn't slip sideways when you're trying to reinstall the lower bolt?

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  4 года назад +1

      I used a jack to apply some pressure to it to line it up with the lower mount.

    • @lindseylaho2524
      @lindseylaho2524 4 года назад +1

      @@EasyFixShaun I tried doing that, but as soon as the jack is raised up to a similar height the strut ends up slipping sideways 😞

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  4 года назад +1

      Oh man I am sorry. The jack and pry bar worked well for me. It is somewhat difficult but worked pretty well. I am sorry I didn't show that for you better. 😀

    • @lindseylaho2524
      @lindseylaho2524 4 года назад +2

      I was able to get it to work out using a piece of high density rubber sandwiched between the jack & strut, so the metal of the strut didn't slide all over the foot of the jack when It was being raised up.

    • @EasyFixShaun

      The bottom bolt for the strut is a little goody to get in because the hole doesn't line up well. That is the bottle neck. Other than that they are fairly straight forward 😀🔧🔧

    Can you tell me the link to the good struts? I have this same exact vehicle AND NEED TO REPLACE THE STRUTS

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  4 года назад +3

      I don't have the link but you can look up your application easily and search for KYB struts. If you want the best aftermarket I always use kyb. They are more expensive and usually require disassembly. They don't come with springs. So they need to be installed into the spring. The ride is simply amazing though with kyb struts. As good as new or better. Lightyears beyond Monroe or anything off the shelf you can find ✅

      @@EasyFixShaun kyb has quick struts ? I never seen kyb quick struts. I manned up and went with Sachs. I think Sachs will hold up better.

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  4 года назад

      @@Mr_BUSINESS_24_7 sachs or kyb are as good and better than stock. Kyb has some quick struts now but very few listings. I am hoping they increase what they offer. They do not have quick struts available for any Subaru's that I am aware of but hopefully soon. Subaru listings are all struts only. You would need a strut compressor of some kind to install a kyb. 😀

      I used what was bought because the car was given to me with the complete struts from Unity. I'm not too sure if they're good or not. I just know how to change or replace certain things. I have an actual mechanic teaching me what to do. I just watch videos as examples before I go and do it. I'm slowly learning. Lol i know this isn't apart of the video but I did my own alternator and I haven't learned it yet. But it was hella easy. I'm a creative genius so figuring a better way to not risk or be hazardous will be found out tonight because my mechanic is supervising me tonight while I do it. Haven't had any issues after replacing certain parts by myself. So far so good. Haha

    The pressure is from your bushing preload just tug the wheel down

    • @EasyFixShaun
      @EasyFixShaun  3 года назад

      You could be right. The tire, knuckle, rotor, brakes all weight enough to pull down the suspension to maximum droop though. I felt like it was the stock shock length causing the problem. I think the rear suspension was just designed this way which makes installing new struts a pain 😃🔧
