Excellent video. Made the job straight forward. Here are some torque specs: 3 upper strut mount locking nuts = 14.5 ft-lb
2 lower strut locking nuts = 129 lb-ft
Your videos are excellent and have given me the confidence to wrench on my car. Definitely buying any OEM-replacement parts from you guys when possible.
I had to most difficult time putting the new strut back in. Had step on the rotor down. Why does it seem so easy yet I had a massive tool throwing hard time
Really good instructional video full of helpful tips! Thank you!
Great video! I'm adding strut top spacers to my 07 WRX tomorrow and this video is greatly helpful. Thanks for posting it!
I own an 05 Legacy and this video is amazing. I can't wait to put some new struts on ol Subi Doo. You guys rock
You guys are amazing! I'm only 18 but you've guy taught me so much! thank you!
Thank you 1A Auto for this video. Just did the fronts today on a 2006 Subaru Legacy 10/4/19. I ordered Front Strut Assembly from 1A Auto and WOW what an improvement. So glad i got them from you and not Name chain Auto places and I Saved us $400.00.

Great instructional video. Thanks for posting
Thank you great video. This was a big help.
I always put small square pieces of 1/2” plywood under the jack stands so they don’t dig into the asphalt. Also apply anti seize on all bolt threads as well as the lug nuts. Thanks for the video.
Nice work thanks
A 10 plus for this fantastic video nice and clear and well explain, thanks for sharing and regards.

Love you dyi stuff
You make it look so easy! 😂
Should be much the same for the 2004, 2.5 Outback but I have a 2.5'' lift kit all round with stamdard shock that I want to upgrade.
Hi, do the strut assemblies for the 08 Outback fit a 2010 Impreza outback sport? If not, can you tell me what strut/spring assemblies I can put. Thanks
Thank you!!

Somebody needs to buy this kid an impact wrench for spinning those nuts and bolts off/on!
Valid point but he probably has one. He's demonstrating for the DIY guys and most of us don't have one. So he should struggle like us mortals lol
I really need some help, I have an 08 Forester. I'm trying to change my CV Axles and the strut bolts are stuck into the hub assembly. Any tips on how I can get them loosened up without a torch
The spring on the new one looks like a much thinner diameter of steel. Is there a measure that ensures the same performanxe
I needed a video of full uninstall and reinstall of a strut with spring compression; I'm not installing a quick set...
Do you guys have the complete set assembly for 2015 Subaru Crosstrek Premium edition. Seems like no one sells them and I'm trying to avoid taking out the old spring.
+Phi Nguyen We do not have the front struts for your vehicle. You could try searching on partsgeek.com
ive seen other peoples videos painting a line on the camber bolts, and making sure the lines are lined up in the end, instead of how you did it. is there a difference?
just finished the fronts. the axel moved high up as soon as the bolts came out. how come yours didnt? it was a pain trying to push the axel down to fit the bolts
pretty sure he had the bolts mixed up too. Turning it didn't move the strut in/out at all. That's not right.
My stock struts are bad they have 175000 miles on them and the ride was just rough. Replaced them with new ones from 1Aauto. No difference at all. My car is still riding rough
+Gabriel Santos We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
MAybe your other suspension components are bad too
Is their a reason they don't use an impact wrench?
+Sharon Geb I believe because most do it yourselfers don't have this tool available. They are using something that more people would have available. Thanks for watching!
i have an 08 legacy wagon. I want to put these outback struts and springs on it, are they compatible? any difference in procedure?
+Graham Serl These parts are not compatible with the legacy model. Thanks!
👍👍👍👍
No block of wood to not damage the oil pan?
He wasn't on the oil pan. He was on a frame crossmember. Poor choice of where he put the jack stands however.
Never seen strut bolts come out so easily...usually they would hurt supermans arm to crack em of the lock nuts..
I'm having a problem, when putting in the new strut, it is sitting too low for the bolts to go back in. I know I have the right part. Any suggestions?
+Asher Krantz You can try fastening the bolts at the top mount first and then the bottom bolts if you were doing it in the inverse way. If you are still having difficulties I would go back and take another look at the video to find something that may have been missed.
@@1AAutothanks for the help. I got it figured out and installed
@@1AAuto I'm having the same issue as Asher. The shocks going in are not a 1:1 match of what was coming out. A prior owner had installed these (crappy) Perrin coil-overs that creak and pop. I'm putting in the struts in the video and I've followed *many* of these tutorials. They're all the same. In them the steering knuckle is beneath the bottom two shock mount holes and they all-just like you did here-lift the steering knuckle up into the bottom of the strut. My problem is the strut holes are a good 2-3 inches *below* the steering knuckle holes. Maybe the prior owner installed/tweaked something else? I don't know. All these vids are like yours and make it look easy. I was hoping this would be a DIY project, now I'm thinking I'm going to have to reinstall the turd shock (I've only attempted the right front so far) and get it to a shop to have a professional rectify it. But if you've got any other advice I'm all ears. Thanks so much!
I figured it out as well. My issue was uneven jacking. I had the right side up initially. When I lowered the right and jacked it up from the front center that evened things out and the strut moved (almost) into place. It was still off by a little bit but I was able to get the bottom two holes aligned enough to push a big flat-head screwdriver into them. Once I did that, I levered it until the top holes were also in alignment. I tapped the top bolt in, just enough to hold it all in place. Once the top was secure the bottom hole was easy. Thanks for these videos. Super helpful.
+Kevin Brock Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
Nice video, if your reusing the springs the fronts are a mf. You need two sets of compressors and have to keep adjusting them.
Holy rust
Strut replacement?? Really need a brake job on that!!
Wow, and your prices are low on quality parts.

@@1AAutoWhat is the asking price for a pair of struts for a 2006 Subie Outback?
