Lucy stoned on drugs back in the 1960's. This reminded me of her vitamin drink commercial where she didn't realize the product was mostly alcohol. She was just incredible at this sort of routine. We pretty much knew what was going to happen when she tried on the ring, when she took her relaxation medicine, when she tried to get it off in a sink, and my God how could Mr. Mooney not know giving her a hammer was practically asking for her to hit him on the hand? Was he insane?
Mr Mooney was such a wonderful guy. I just learned that he stayed with her for 23 years. Your boss was a sweetheart alright, Lucy. 😄👌🏻 It's true folks.. she kept Gale Gordon that long appearing in her 3 tv shows. What a team.
Here's a little piece of trivia - you know the drawing of Lucy at the end of each Lucy Show episode? The drawing of her with the "tall hair"? It wasn't drawn for this series, it was actually drawn in the 1940s by Al Hirschfeld. I found that out several years ago.
If I'm not mistaken, the terrible U.S. currency inflation that we are experiencing is coming from our huge unpayable deficit. I think it's in the trillions of dollars. Back then, U.S. currency was a lot more valuable.
One of the most funniest n talented artists of the 20th century in the same rank as Chaplin, Keaton Laurel & Hardy who will continue to tickle our hearts n those of generations to come
Posters here don''t give Mary Jane Croft enough credit for her artistry nor her gift as a comic sidekick to Lucille Ball. Of course, no one can equal Vivian Vance for her chemistry with Lucille Ball and her talent as a comedienne but Mary Jane Croft made memorable foils for not just Lucille Ball but also for Eve Arden on "Our Miss Brooks" and for Ozzie and Harriet Nelson in "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. A great, unsung character comedienne!
I really like Mary Jane Croft! She's a great actress with such a cute voice- It seems she must be a really nice person in real life too. She really holds her own without taking away from Lucille Ball too- She makes her character very likeable but still a foil at the same time- that's a true art!!! I love Vivian Vance too of course :) Those two could really play it kooky!!! While being more glamorous in real life and stunning too!
Lucille Ball won the Emmy Award for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, for the 1966- 1967 Television Season! There is a clip of this episode shown during the 1967 Emmy Award Show broadcast, as the Best Actress nominees were being announced!
Mark, I tried making out in a yellow VW Beetle of the same vintage, New Year's Eve, 1975. Talk about "hoisting on one's own petard"---literally! Considering all the pretzel-contortion stunts Lucy performed over the years, I think she would have appreciated the irony. :-P
oh my god! Lucille Ball was a genius when it came to physical comedy. she commands her body with such intent... I wonder how funny it could have been if she worked with Rowan Atkinson. I love all her shows!
The office colors coordinate nicely with Lucy's outfits and even Lucy herself. I sure do miss the 70's. So grateful that I got to experience those years.
Lucille Ball with her beauty and stardom could have refused anything she thought was beneath her, but she was so willing to be a foil and a fool and was just such a physical comedian. There'll never be another even close!
A similar "bit" to Mooney trying to prop up Lucy here, who's "drunk" on pills: Lucy "hopped up" on sea sickness pills on the Staten Island Ferry from "I Love Lucy," and having to beat the 5 o'clock deadline to get her passport. Ricky and Ethel try to prop her up to sign the affidavit, and Ricky ends up swinging Lucy around in that scene, too, like Mooney does here!
I remember. And that episode played here in New York last week. I can't stand the "Staten Island Ferry." It's the exterior and the interior. And no snack bar!
Lucy opening the letter at the beginning may remind Lucy fans of the final episode of the Lucy Desi Comedy Hour (guests Ernie Kovacs and Evie Adams) where Lucy tries to open a sealed letter using a technique she learned from watching a Hitchcock movie.
Lucy gets the ring stuck on her finger ! Lucy's daughter is in this too ! the ring went down the drain ! the ring went to the laundry room now the ring is stuck on Mary Janes finger ! Thanks
Gale Gordon is a perfect support to Lucille Ball. Honestly I can[t say who supports who. It's a sparks spitting duo. Since it's a Lucy show we say he is a support actor.
I really miss her. There will never be another Lucille Ball. She was the best - an icon. Television comedy today is horrible and that is why I her all her shows on DVD.
Gale Gordon was Anglo-American. His father was in Vaudeville and his mother was in British Music Hall. They met in England. He was born in the States but the family went to England for several years. Then went back to the States but within a couple of years Gale (Archie) went back to England to go to school. I often wonder if it was Eton. In radio's "Fiber McGee and Molly" he is the mayor of the town and does a whole routine with Fibber about Eton Collage that the Mayor attended. Fibber tells Molly " You hear that Molly they got a collage over there to teach you how to eat." A frustrated mayor is driven to distraction trying to correct Fibber. His mother's name was Gordon, Gloria Gordon. She often appeared with him on radio and in television in "Our Miss Brooks. The first time he appeared on stage was in Toronto.
@@FG-qu3kj, me indian, my late dear Mom was greatest fan of Lucille ball ( Lucy show). Tell you that my Mom doesn't know the single word of English language. Thanks a lot for sharing your views. Lots of love from India🇮🇳
Lucille Ball was probably the greatest comedienne of all time. Unrivaled genius!
Agreed!
WHAT did She say about John Ritter? 😮. 🤓😎✌🏼
It really takes a lot of talent to pull off this slapstick humor. Lucy and Carol Burnett are comedy gold.

hahahahahaha! I never get tired of Lucy's crying moments. She always gets me when she cries.
How we still love Lucy it seems she can't stop making us laugh. There's no one like Lucy.
The best comedy , no one can copy . God bless them .
Mr. Mooney being so prim and proper makes this even more entertaining. Lucy is as relaxed as a rag doll.
There's probably still a few mr Mooneys out there.
Popping pills for high blood pressure.... 😆
But there will only be one Lucille Ball ! 💖
Wonderful counterplay.
Hilarious. 🤣. Never get tired of this episode. The faces too hysterical!!!
Lucy was FABULOUS. You just don't see comedy of this quality anymore.
True indeed
Indeed.
No you don't......all you see is bad language and dirty jokes and sex tones
I COMPLETELY agree. No profanity or taking clothes off and IMO this show was better than ANYTHING they make now.
Couldnt stop laughing at this especially the "passing of the loopy lucy" between Mooney and the police officer.
"And they worry about OUR generation!" Clever appearance by Lucie Arnaz at 14:38
Mr Mooney was such a wonderful guy. I just learned that he stayed with her for 23 years. Your boss was a sweetheart alright, Lucy. 😄👌🏻

I grew up watching I Love Lucy with my mom. Now during the pandemic it nice to see these because its putting a lot more laughter in my life!!!
Same I remember my mother bought a DVD of this show
What a comedian & Gale as well ❤
love her ....never gets old lol
Thank you.. Really nice to watch late at night when I can't sleep.

I laughed my tale off when I first seen this episode. I still do every time.
Thank you, PizzaFlix for posting all of these wonderful LUCY shows! I have really enjoyed watching them.
$6000.00 in 1967 vs 2019..the little bauble adjusted for today is $46,088.26. That's some trinket.
If I'm not mistaken, the terrible U.S. currency inflation that we are experiencing is coming from our huge unpayable deficit. I think it's in the trillions of dollars. Back then, U.S. currency was a lot more valuable.
I was wondering that very thing!
And it's 2021 now!
$6000.........you know how much that would be in todays money........plenty
Waaaaaah........just like Lucy.......id do the same thing........if Mr.Mooney was Ricky.....always yelling at her all the time
I see the price.......honey if I could whistle.....wooooow
Loved Mary Jane ! So cute & sweet !
lucy is amazing using her body like a puppet - it's just so hard to do that

There's no doubt about it. That was Lucie Arnaz.
All of her movies are excellent!!!!

I don’t know how she didn’t fracture something doing that with those heels on! I fractured a foot stepping on a vac hose! 😂 Lucy was unique...
I was trying on four inch heels in a thrift store not long ago and I could just feel my ankles turning
Lucy was beautiful and very hilarious. Mary Jane was so funny.

After the cop busts Mr. Mooney's stones, he just walks away without helping!!
