That’s interesting. I’ve been having my fair share of not so enjoyable days, and I’ve been hoping Levy would kinda finish a “series” he has on the Soviet Era around Fischer’s time. He’s done Fischer-Spassky ( I think both 72 & 92), Korchnoi-Karpov, Kasparov-Karpov, but not Korchnoi-Fischer. I think since Korchnoi played all those others and did fairly well, and since he actually has an even score with Fischer, it would be a fine addition to the rest.
It's your videos that got me to chess after 11 years, of not playing, I was a very good player when I was young I won a few tournaments, and now I am feeling my old spark for chess and it was because of you thanks a lot.
To date I think we can safely say without fear of being proven wrong: in the next 4-8 years we will have an Indian (Pragg, Erigaisi, Gukesh or Sarin) or Iranian (Firouzja) World Chess Champion.
@@ludwigvanbeethoven169 Many months have passed since my comment, years, and I certainly didn't think about it again today... but the notification of your reply arrived, and I reread it much later...🤣👍congratulations to Gukesh, he deserves it: he played the Candidates, with Caruana, Nepo, Alireza etc present, and played exceptionally; then, being only 18 years old, he defeated Ding Liren, who until 2019, was one of the undisputed top three in "classical" time in chess... Carlsen is still the best, but he retired from the world title, so to today Gukesh D. is the new reigning World Champion, and he deserved it
Fun fact: if you double tab to skip forward at the very start of the video (0:00), then you can hear Gotham say a perfectly clear and beautiful “Chess”
This is amazing! I always cheer for Magnus but it is fun to imagine him thinking “oh man, he’s got me on the ropes” at some point. Well done, Erigaisi 👏🏻👏🏻
If I was playing Magnus I would keep the queens on the board, not let it go to an end game, and try to get rid of his knights as he likes to rotate them mid-game with a calculated attack. (I would still lose but thats what I would do to boost my chances of winning 1 - 1.5% have a good day.
It’s amazing how not even a single piece or pawn was captured until 13 minutes into the video. Idk what move number that is, but that just shows just how fantastic both of these two are at navigating extremely closed positions.
Would you consider doing a video where you play vs a GM and you’re allowed to use a chess engine on three moves of your choice to see how strong that is for cheating?
Let's be honest: Magnus Era has passed. After loses to Hikaru, Gukesh, Pragnanaanda, Erigaisi and refusing to defend his title against Nepo, he cannot prove himself as the G.O.A.T.
Levy you make the game more interesting by comparing it with other incidents... The commentary was never so interesting without you... Lots of appreciation to your hard work and creative commentary
"You are actually undefeated against one of the greatest chess players of all time." Well, it's hard to lose if you don't play. BTW, wasn't Arjun Erigaisi the one who lost that other event (the one that Magnus' only loss was the game he resigned in one move) badly against Magnus or was that someone else? BTW, when Arjun played f5, Nc5 looks like a plausible move. And it still looks good after Kd7. Edit: Fair, Nc5+ is stronger here (14:18), but why wasn't it viable a couple moves ago?
Once Is Chance, Twice is Coincidence, Third Time's A Pattern. So to beat Magnus, you must be a Chess Prodigy and Indian. Since I always get my GM title on HOW TO NOT PLAY CHESS, clearly I just now need to become Indian.
6:50 Always play Kb1!!! And yet again, the Finegold Rules prevail. 9:04 And always play Bc1!! It doesn't get said out loud as often, but this is the queenside equivalent of "Always play Bf1". Mmm good.
Hey @gothamchess I just wanted you to know that I don't know if people are on here from the mind body world, people suffering from long covid etc, but I have been watching your videos and playing chess and it has been an enormous comfort to me at this stage in my recovery. Its strange because chess is nerve wracking so one might argue its not the best for the autonomic nervous system, but on the other hand, in this environment of your youtube videos/community it becomes more comforting, relaxing and connected even though my life is very disrupted at the moment and for the past year. Thank you for your work, perhaps I'm the only one but it is at times, life saving.
It's fascinating to see how the next generation is learning from Stockfish, AlphaZero, and Magnus to continue to up the bar. It's one of the reasons evaluating Hans' is so difficult. Is his rise a result of hard work and dedication to mastering new ideas while neglecting old ones (hence his swinging performances and inability to articulate the positions) combined with the weird gap in time during the pandemic? Or is it because he cheats? How can you tell one way or the other?
Since I heard you on Lex Fridman's podcast, I've been hooked on you videos and back into chess for the first time in years 👌
Welcome! :)

Yes
Carlsen beat me in a bullet game once. It's like Levi doesn't even know I'm watching.
So unreal that the Great Magnus hasn’t beaten me yet. Shocking really. I also have the record of never losing to a GM

Never playing someone means you’re undefeated against them - Levy Rozman IM 2022
He's right tho
He is that one guy who tops the exam without even preparing for it
@u know me Can't really thank you. The video was trash.
true. just with cheating
who?
Duuude I'm that one guy. It's actually not as healthy as you may imagine.
That's to be expected because he's Indian.
I feel this channel is helping people getting through tough times, at least for me. Keep up the good work Levy !!!
Thats good to hear
the only thing that's gonna help you in your tough time is your will, keep it strong lad.

Honestly just sublime play from Arjun. Truly amazing chess.
I like when levy makes references about other sports like boxing, basketball etc. It makes the games more exciting and interesting.
