I love following your channel, and all of your DIY builds. One tip to pass along. When punching holes in rubber or when making gaskets. If you support your material on a piece of end grain wood, such as a piece of firewood, block, etc. Your punch will stay sharper much longer, if not indefinetly. When striking on plywood or edge grain, the punch can not penetrate the support backing easily and bounces off. Eventually rounding the edge of your punch. Give it a try and you will notice better results right away, cleaner holes etc. Keep up the great work and have a great day.
I like it, a bit like a butcher's block is all end grain. I used to work at a place where we made a fair few gaskets. We had a maybe half inch of 6 inch tube welded to a piece of plate full of lead. When it got all mangled up we would just melt it and good to go again.
Coming along very nicely! The rubber extension on the read fenders gives it a very "Mad Max" feel. Also, it's a Jerry can, not a Cherry can (the name has WW II origins) ;)
I would use aluminum pop rivets to hold the mud flaps to the frame. Even if you grease coat the bolts they'll probably rust anyway and need to be drilled out. The aluminum pop rivets will be much easier to drill out when the time comes. Just my two cents. Great build, I've really enjoyed watching it all come together.
well young man I have seen all your 4x4 project I wonder where you learned all this, just beautiful so much skill you are really a king in technology, mechanics and what else. be glad you have golden hands and you don't need anyone to come and repair something with you, so you save a lot of money... respect for you keep it up
Great job Donn, turned out really good. Thanks for sharing with us, keep up the good work and videos. Everyone enjoys watching your projects. Fred. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
Great job!! I like you solution for flexible parts. Those totes come in handy. May I suggest you build a mid body splash guard for behind the seat and engine? Here in Western Colorado the mud is really invasive. Later, after you get stuck like I have, you may like power washing the back without making a mess on the dash and seat… Thanks for continuing to work on this machine. I know you like red so I suspect, when you paint, that will be her color…. 👍👍👍👍
Wow! We learn something about you every video. I had no idea you are a prior IKEA structural engineer! That beast is approaching Mad Max capability with the Chainsaw Storage box and Chainsaw. Now for a gun turret and flame thrower and I think it'll be there! LOL enjoyed 👍👍
Really coming together Donn. I like it yer way. SIMPLE !!! And yer absolutely right. Salt plays havoc on threads. Rivots are def best !! Casanova PA loves yer work !!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hey Don when you say that the first iteration of your mudguards was a horror show was that because you had wait for it mud in your eye LOL. Also we completely understand in America those who want to stupidly over complicated machinery to be safe not realizing that sometimes the safety makes the Machinery more dangerous. Also I'm keep the screws and not rivet the fenders because if they tear it's easier to replace with screws and I would also put a coating on the screws that are going to get mud on them. Looking good my friend looking good
Don, here is a tip from an old car builder. When cutting thin flexible material laying it out on a thick piece of Styrofoam steadies the material under the saw and the blade can move up and down harmlessly thru the foam. I use a piece of an old hot tub cover.
We call them jerry cans not cherry ! 😂 hay its coming along awesome Donn. Gunna be sweet when all is said an did . Can't wait to see the next project???😁👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
"Jerry" being the British slang for a German soldier in WWII. The Jerry cans were a German invention and were so obviously superior to what the English and Americans were using, they copied them and they're still in use world wide today. Not to be confused with the term "Jerry rigged". That's a corruption of the actual term, "Jury rigged". "Jury" meaning "temporary" or "improvised". It was used to refer to hasty repairs made to battle damaged rigging in the days of sail.
Just a little information. It's not a "cherry" can but in fact a "Jerry" can. They were called this because they were first made by the Germans in the second world war who were known as the "Jerries". The allies liked the design so much that they reverse engineered them from captured German items and used them to carry all sorts of liquids from fuel to water. Grease is alright on screws to keep them from rusting in but anti-seize works better. Grease will eventually leach out but ant-seize has soft metal particles in it that will remain behind and act as a lubricate when the time comes to remove the fasteners.
@2:57 You also need a place to put the cooler. Nothing like drinking beers and slinging a chainsaw! (For professionals only; don't try this at home). ;-)
Yes, approximately 90% of all regulations intended to make a given task safer only succeed in making that task more difficult. For the rear fenders, have you considered making them of metal with the edge extending beyond the dump bed still being rubber? You could probably cut them from the body or hood panels of the van that has already donated so much for the cause!
The "safety shields" are mostly okay, but some of them just get in the way of the work being done. They try to replace proper instruction in the use of a piece of machinery, but it doesn't work that way, despite what the bureaucrats who mandate the safety things think. The humor definitely crossed the language differences. It's precisely what I think about them.
Important safety issues dealt with extremely well. Shouldn't the rubber bits on the rear be mounted on the underside, not the upper side of the mudguard though?
Hallo am a new subscriber. Have been looking at your Plasma CNC cutter seems very nice. But how is the new 15mm belts holding up any flex, also do you have any problems with linear bearings in the dirty environment, plasma cutting always is, and last is there anything there could be tetter in the build? best regards

I made some fenders for my 4x4 and coated them with truck bed liner, four years later they are still just fine, sun doesnt affect them at all

I imagine that tear down and painting will be a 12 part series- that will be a real job!! NICE UTV.
Все время наблюдаю за твоей работай, один работает остальные смотрят. 👍

Great build, I've really enjoyed watching it all come together.
I was going to suggest same, lots of vibration and lots of nuts and bolts to wiggle loose.
Why No one is talking about your calls and looks....
@6:41: THE ATTITUDE you have! Perfect!!!!

Looking forward to the finished product.
Mmm... I sense a home-made sandblaster build in the future! You'll need to prep this puppy for painting at some stage...
Отличная работа , ждём продолжение 😊👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Donn,
Great solutions, awesome results.

I've never seen your humour not come across perfectly...From Florida USA
I can't wait for the final result of this utv assembly.
just started the video and the editing on the rubber accelerating punch was absolutely great....
I really like the mud guards. They actually changed the look of the machine.
I was hoping to retain the original angry look as much as possible.
Your work is unbelievable,, I never get tired of watching your creativity.👍👍👍
Best fabricator on YT! 👍👍👍
That thing is never gonna float.
Awesome build waiting to see what's next.

3:02 The 'cherry can'?
That's funny! 🤣
Практично, рационально, технично и очень умело!!!
Братан ты ‘маньяк’ по механизмам 👍
Nice work!
Great video as usual
Très belle vidéo comme d'habitude bon courage à vous pour la suite
Can't wait for the paint...
Very Nice as always :)
Even the Subaru Forester doesn't have a chainsaw holder :)
We make mud guards the same way, with old semi mud flaps, on noble, and sellick forklifts.
great work ..
Хорошо! Очень хорошо! Супер! 💪💪💪
Safety sarcasm=universal language :)
This is editing heaven 0:25
Like a glove 👍

Jerry cans, from "Geri cans", a term coined by US GIs in WWII who saw them being carried on Panzers.
ausgezeichnete Überarbeitung, nur jetzt, um es zu malen.👍👍

Well, as always at the highest level,bravo ☝ ️ 😉 👍 👍 👍
good job....
I had to chuckle when I saw the auto correct changed Jerry can to Cherry Can in the subtitles...
Me too!
Bloody auto corrector!😵💫
Like a glove.
You might try putting a piece of angle iron on each side of bed put on mud flaps
Лайкос 👍

Все круто, работа выполнен₽ очень аккуратно¿
Doing it twice fixes most things, except for me. Thinking, why did I do that?. You case is so much better, good to perfect.
Tuleb üks vägev sookoll :)
Nice, clever use of “trash”, good woodworking skills aswell. 😁👍🏻

Ur a talented machanic of ATV designer. Yet u are Able to make used of modern equipment and up to date technology
Cherry can? I got a bunch of those that I fill with gasoline. Over the pond we call them Jerry cans.

How much does it already weigh? Is it still utv or maybe already a tank?
Cool everything just seems to me too heavy to do..

Cool

New belts are good, linear bearings have wipers on'em and also I clean'em up by hand before every use.
Merci
Отлично
🤘
Is the rubber sheet localy sourcred/found or ebay? I can't find a good source for anything like that in France :(
Would it be possible to use something like raptor liner on the mudguards instead of having ato get black plastic for them
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You should make some doors for because it will be mud
