If it would fly in your fab shop, you must be working for the govt. because this way takes way to long for an inferior product. Of course, you might be ok with riding the clock and shitty work. Define "good metal worker". He shows skill and talent in his techniques, but is it "good" to spend 6weeks labor plus hundreds of dollars in materials to build a single machine that you can buy off the shelf for less than $500? How much is his time worth? If you assume $15/hour and a 40 hour work week, those 240 hours costed $3,600 USD for a $500 tool...and that's BEFORE you factor in material cost! No one would describe a wasteful, inefficient worker as "good".

I got a couple of questions about the motor from the washing machine:
    1. What's the power output of the rotating shaft of the induction motor from a washing machine? To Calculate the max power output just use the equation
    (2*3.14*Torque*Max RPM)/60
    2. At what Voltage and Current does the motor operate (Im assuming probably 240V and 13 ish Amps)
    3. How much mass does it have (Preferabily in kg but pounds are fine too)
    4. Do you think you could put this in anything and make it go at a decent speed, say a bicycle for example?
Although from the information of the 3 questions above it's clear if it is possible but just want an answer

Very cool! I know it isn't as easy as it looks, especially hand making the wheels, but you do a fantastic job at making the project approachable for a moderate skilled and minimally equipped DIYer (except for the press, not too many folks watching probably have that, I don't at least. Wheels aren't too expensive, so...) Great video, instant sub with notifications :)

This was well done, but please consider wearing personal protective equipment (i.e gloves, coveralls, eye and breathing protection. I've lost count of the number of colleagues or hearing stories of welders who ended up with melanoma forming on their arms through the constant exposure to high levels of UV light from the arc from not keeping them covered, or those who developed chronic obstructive pulmonary disease through inhaling vaporised zinc or cadmium plating on bolts, nuts and washers or just the preserving oil on steel.
Your content is very good but please do this old engineer a favour by protecting yourself. Subscribed 👍

Your building skill is matched only by your editing skill. Both are amazing!
10:58 - I hope that someday I, too, will have the skill and strength to drill 2 slots in steel BY HAND!! Ha, ha! GREAT special effect!

Very impressive work and a very well made creative video with some banging tunes. As an old school tool and die maker my only concern would be the balance of the rollers because I’d say it’s very difficult to achieve concentricity using your construction method. I imagine this might cause a bit of vibration when operating the finished tool. A centre lathe would have come in very handy although I appreciate that would have taken away from the theme of the build.
Very engaging vid regardless. I’ve really got to get a welder.
    Many thanks.
