In my next life I wanna be like you Corey. I’m too old to do it now (70). You’re a monster guitarist, but I can tell you’re also an extremely great human being! Jim
I've been playing guitar for 35 years and am not nearly as good as Corey, but still get a huge thrill out of learning a new song or lick. There's always going to be someone better than you out there but you're never too old to enjoy the journey.
Man you know how to make an old man happy. The first sound reminded me of when I was going to college on my 1977 ford steed back in the 85's. Most of the times I watch your videos I feel that good thing that only the emotion of music with feeling can cause. Keep going and thank you.

What make this great is that you are getting killer tone with obtainable gear! Best SS SE review ever. BTW I have has Strats with no tone control on the neck and it worked great.
I just got one ,all they had was the dragon fruit color. I’m loving the guitar, been wanting one for months. Great pick ups and tone I’m 71 still playing. Just really like the guitar. Great demo and tips. Appreciate it. Not crazy about the dragon fruit color but I’m getting used to it.
Fantastic demo. Easily one of the best "S" type guitars offered by any manufacturer at any price. Thanks for all the excellent advice. BTW, I'm always a bit amused by how much I've spent on guitars and then how much research I've done to alter their tone.
Great playing great demo. I have a Strat with Texas specials and with work I can get close to those sound. You tips were awesome. I also have a PRS silver sky se same color..dragonfruit. I never considered working to play SVR type blues on it.anyway thanks for a different review devoid of distortion, metal gymnastics and JM covers we all learned something
You're a seriously smokin' guitarist Corey! I first saw you in your "Let's use 13th Chords in Blues Rhythm Guitar Playing" and have found a lot of you videos really inspiring and educational. Thinking about a Silver Sky SE. I've owned some Core PRS, and my #1 is a Singlecut 594.
Yep some people get hung up too much on gear. Don't get me wrong I love new gear but most tone is in the players hands. An experienced player can sound great on almost anything
Really enjoyed your playing; your feel is impressive. Regarding the PRS SE, I placed my order for the Moon White version. Sweetwater rep says October 2022. Your demo makes it hard to wait !
@CoreyCongilio, would love to hear how this guitar sounds in the vein of Pink Floyd, etc. Thanks for taking the time to do this one right, and I'd agree that for a lot of what you played, the #2/#4 positions sound awesome and can easily be go-to's on their own merits. Be well.
Dangit, Corey......you are quite a gifted player! Always inspired by your talent! The tones you get outta that PRS are GREAT, but I think your fingers have more to do with that!
Great demo! Very informational! Im curretly deciding between a SE Silver Sky or a Fender Player Strat. Im looking to play Blues (SRV type style) and I'm looking for some nice clean tones. Which one do you think I should get for that? Does the Silver Skye handle a bit more gain a bit better than the PLayer Strat? Thanks for the video!
Corey! Good stuff man. Question: Did Fender make the Blues Jr in "Black" Western tolex? I can't seem to locate one. The tones are awesome. Thanks for sharing! JB
Great content as always Corey! I had the impression that you treated the Volume knob on the Blues Jr as a volume and not as a gain control... I'm I wrong? I got your Blues Guitar by Yourself course and it's killer! Highly recomended to everyone!
The blues jr is pretty versatile in that you can use the volume and master in tandem to get great tones at all volumes. I have a video on the amp coming out next week!
Aka: "Hi, I'm Corey Congilio and this is how to casually annihilate most blues players with a budget rig." 😂 See also: "Hi, I'm Corey Congilio and you don't need expensive, unicorn gear to get SRV/Hendrix tones, it's mostly how you play." 💥See also: "Hi, I'm Corey Congilio and if you practice enough, you'll realize you can save a lot of money and still get the tones you seek."😏 You are a mighty man with a git-tar! 🥳🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
my brother went down to texas one time, and jammed with some mexicans on acoustic guitars, and he said those guys can literally make their guitars talk!
Hi Corey, great video. You mention at about 8:57 that you're using the Ox Box to keep the volume down. Can you clarify exactly how you do that, since the Blues Junior doesn't have an effects loop or signal out? (at least mine doesn't!). Thanks
I disconnected the speaker and run a speaker cable directly to the Ox. You could come back out of the OX and reconnect the speaker and use the attenuator also. You’re hearing the direct amp to OX sound that goes into my computer
Great original lesson ! On a personal level i'd love you to explain in detail the oxbox and how it works, everything that's in the circuit and how it's connected etc. i see lot's of people using one but just how does it fit in with the rest of the gear ?
@@coreycongilio sure....thinking about a Gold top at the mo though...:-)...had to laugh when you broke the string...haha...you really were on fire today... love it...carry on....
