In this video, Brian and Bradford review the new PRS SE Silver Sky. The SE Silver Sky is the import/SE version of the John Mayer Silver Sky signature guitar. At $850, it's a LOT of guitar for the money. We love it.

I didn’t mention this in the video but it’s worth noting - I love John Mayer. A lot. But I’ve never felt a strong desire to learn his songs. I know a handful and can fake a few more. But for me, listening to his music is a special thing. May sound weird or corny to some but it’s just what it is and I love that about his music. That’s why there’s really no Mayer licks in this thing 😂 We knew other videos would focus on that too so that’s also why we made sure to showcase the genre we make content for (praise and worship). Thanks for watching!
I think focusing on how it sounds in a worship mix was definitely the right direction, great video!
I salute you
Actually, I like that you didn’t do John Mayer’s lick over and over here… don’t get me wrong, I love John Mayer and if I would be a better player, I would play his songs too. But we know plenty of youtubers will, so it’s better to see this new instrument in your element, which is worship music.
Cue shocked face*
And we love you Radford (and Brian too)!!!
Great video! Thanks for all your nerding out about Mayer!
Thank you for the review. It's actually awesome. I love the green
This is is a GREAT video review. You must watch.
That opening sound was gorgeous and i love the green 👍
I'm in the 'love the headstock' camp. Great review!
Sounds pretty amazing! I own the 24 model SE! Congrats!
I ordered the core model the month it debuted four years ago and have led worship with it ever since. Anyone that has picked it up has been complimentary about the quality of the instrument. I’m excited to see this new version get into the worship world at a more accessible price. Great review Brian and Bradford!
Also, pair the Silver Sky with the Browne Protein - Green Side, and you have tone for days!
You also get brown protein from too much fiber
Love the John Mayer fan love, I’m there with you guys
You two are so awesome!
Gravity, Clarity, No Such Thing. Thank You, Bradford, for everything you do.
VERY impressed with that bridge pick-up.
I just got mine and LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally someone demoing the color I purchased. It looks great! Well done!
its strange that "Evergreen" looks slightly more yellow on their website but its more of a teal here? what would you say is more true in person? just curious as ive already ordered this color haha
A word about the neck shape, some time after the original Silver Sky release in 2018, PRS altered the shape of the rosewood models only. "The maple fretboard option comes with the original 635JM neck shape, while the rosewood fretboard option has been subtly modified in the shoulders to feel more 'rounded' in your hand." So, the neck shape of the SE might still be closer to the slimmer core maple version.
The bridge pickup really impressed me!
Good Love is On the Way. Great riffs, great solo, great tone, great song all the way around.
Will you guys ever do a comparison video between the SE Silver Sky and the SE Custom 24? That would be awesome and I bet soooooooo many people would tune in to see a video like that!!
the john mayer trio is for sure my favorite tone. so good
Excellent demo. wow this axe sounds amazing! I think i gonna go with the moon white finsish
Yeah it's worth it. the PRS scale is fine in my hands. Really did your guys playing. Kudos.
Great sample 4 of I'm Gonna Find Another You. If that wasn't it, then I don't know what I just heard lol. One of my favorite JM songs. I've been playing a PRS McCarty for 20 years now. Great guitars. But I've been playing a 1994 Mexican Strat now for that last year and it just fits me right. So this Silver Sky has my attention at the moment.
I have this guitar and it's amazing it like it has a humbucker In the bridge... blown away
Love the green
Just in time!!!
I just picked up a the blue model. This video had me halfway sold and when the local shop got a used one I was sold the moment I started playing it
Current favorite Mayer tone has to be his tone on Shot in The Dark off Sob Rock. Its just unreal. also so excited to get my SE, got the stone blue!!
heavenly sound
Good review. Can you guys do a review of the Larry Carlton Sire guitars?
sample 6 was amazing... love that sound..very church and ambient.. my favorite style
I love, LOVE the Strat tones in Bold as Love. And the groove in Assassin is amazing too. Also I want that guitar.
Favourite Mayer tone is the live recording of Ain't no Sunshine
Thank you
John Mayer doing Human Nature was so beautifully done. I agree his tone was PHENOMENAL!!!! But my favorite song is Assassin for his songwriting. Favorite songs based on electric is anything he did with his trio. Favorite Acoustic songs is IN YOUR ATMOSPHERE. I was blown away by how he made the acoustic sound like a violin!!!!!!! MIND BLOWN. But all time favorite song to jam to is Rosie. Named my Yamaha rosewood acoustic after that song haha.
OMG yes!!! This was absolutely incredible.
Favorite Mayer tone is hummingbird that he does with BB King! So so good!
Wasn’t a fan of the SS, but they nailed the bridge pup, probably the best strat bridge pup I’ve ever heard
May have to add that to my arsenal when they become more widely available.
Favorite Mayer tone... maybe Belief or Vultures... Shouldn't Matter But It Does...
I was going to get a fender player strat because it was is my budget but now i think im going for this
I have the moon white color one and it’s pretty awesome,I still can’t believe I got it off a guy for $500 and he included the PRS Gig bag as well 😊
If I didn’t have a core model I would be all over that stone blue version! Although, with the SE version, I wouldn’t hesitate to convert to HSS! Haha
I’m curious as to your opinions on the new line of D’Angelico solid body guitars. The Bedford, Atlantic, and Brighton models seem to be decent quality in the same price range as this new PRS, with a wide tonal range with two coil-tapping humbuckers.
Not a jm fan missed that by a couple of generations. However love you guys too …I did watch to the end. Finally did my DLX patch update on my helix floor, sounds good through my newish lp studio or is that vice versa?
My favourite song is slow dancing, st Patrick's day, and tone I love the sound in heart of life ❤
Oh, could you guys do a review on the Ibanez AZ ES HSS one? The pickup combinations look very versatile for worship guitar setting.
Favorite Mayer tone? I love the line from Neon. That is amazing.
on order
the green is sick
Nice video. One correction in case it has not been mentioned. The first tone knob is for the "bridge" pick up alone. The second tone knob handles the middle and neck pick up. Good job guys.
Is that not what I said? Certainly what I meant 😂
@@bmitchellmusic no worries. Not that I hang on every last detail but I did happen to watch Bryan Ewald do the actual PRS demo from the factory right before watching yours and he said that the first tone knob, the one right under the volume knob, is the bridge alone. The second tone knob is for the middle and neck pick ups. Once again, great video, and thank you for all the effort you put into these videos. I happen to be a friend of Paul Smith's from way back and I have met Bryan several times and I'm sure they are both happy to see people like you demonstrating their guitars and what not. I've also enjoyed your videos on Fractal gear. God bless
Bradford... There is a correction on the official PRS demonstration done by Bryan Ewald. You were correct in your initial description of the electronics of the guitar. I didn't know, but I did know that the two of you had different descriptions. Yours was the correct one. Once again, thanks for the videos and everything you guys do. You've got a fan here in Maryland.
Yes I'm getting one of these. Trading in a brand new PRS custom 24 SE.
I'll have mine tomorrow! Did you guys use a noisegate on the heavy stuff? Just curious, our church has Horrible EMI. I can't wait another 24 hours! Lol
Awesome great music song. Great sound
Favorite tone: Wheel from continuum. One of the best tones ever.
Favorite Mayer Tone (FMT): Slow Dancing In A Burning Room
Just so pure.
My man John keeping it real
my favorite Mayer tone is the time he did "Covered in Rain" on the Any Given Thursday Record
What equipment are you running through to get that first sound in the intro?
this is like the only video of this in evergreen.. im waiting for the maple board option personally
I am very interested in a Silver Sky but I want the 2023 with a gray body and maple neck.. but never in green.. if I was given a green Silver Sky I would sell it to get another guitar🤪😂🤪. U enjoy your channel and great review guys🤘🏻🤘🏻 God bless.
Favourite Mayer tone - Belief - Where the light is Album
The Continuum tone is my favorite; all of it.
What pedals where you guys using in the first playing example? Great video by the way!
Thanks! All the playing samples were Axe-FX iii.
Can we get a Sunday vlog with you playing it at your church? 🙏🏽
I made it to this part of the video!
The colors are way better in person than the photos
Covered in rain 🌧 is the first Mayer song I’d play in that thing
How do you like the 8.5 neck radius?
YESSSSS
40 minutes of a WT video? I think YES.
Wow!
Man I bought the prs se standard 24 I still got 30 days to return it but not sure if I want to pay the difference and upgrade is it worth it or should I just wait till I get more experience and then buy a more expensive guitar
Hey guys! Great video!!! Quick question, how does this guitar compare to a Yamaha Pacifica 612 , which is less money, seamore duncan pickups, locking tuners etc. would love a comparison video….
Never played one. Sorry!
Favorite tone: Belief (WTLI)
How does the green compare to stock photos? This video makes it seem more jade?
Fun fact about the Core model 2018…turn the bridge p/u tone to 3 a d slap a boss AC-2 on it…
My favorite Mayer tone is Live in LA slow dancing in a burning room
Use my silver sky almost every week. Rotate it out with a special 22. Tone never quits haha
Now I just need PRS to make a Tele style guitar 😂😂
Wish granted… kind of?
Favorite tone Belief Live in LA
Favorite Song Shot in the Dark
will these tones be played as I enter the pearly gates?
Do they make it with a maple fretboard?
39:40 I think there's a tear in Bradford's eye when he starts talking about JM. 😭
I think the real question is would you buy the SE version over a comparable Fender Strat?
How do u like the green color?
I have been wanting a PRS. I currently play a 2015 MIM Fender Strat. No mods. Would you consider this PRS an upgrade?
I would, yes.
Pretty sure I need one
Wow, sounds amazing!
Q: How more many guitars do you need?
A: Just one more!
What was Brad playing through on the first playing sample + what patches, the cleans at the end sounded incredible
We used Axe-FX 3 for the playing samples. We pulled up a variety of patches - a new one we’re working on with the Chieftain and DC30 in stereo, and the Bass Men patch.
@@worshiptutorials awesome, thanks for the reply!
Nice guitar and nice tones!
But just wondering if the one you get will be the one we will get? Because I have heard that instrument companies give their best in the lot, specially set up guitars (better than standard set up) for youtubers to review whereas the one we purchase may not be put together or set up as well.
In my experience with PRS, this would absolutely be the one everyone gets. Their quality control is absolutely top shelf. I've personally bought a lot of PRS guitars (both core and SE), and they're all pretty much perfect. I understand the sentiment, though - it's definitely a thing with some brands, but not at all with PRS.
I just picked up this exact colored one. Straight from the delivery truck to my hands it was perfect. No setup by my local shop.
Where PRS dropped the ball was in the paint colors.
I’d have to say “Who Did You Think I Was?” Or “Good Love Is On The Way” on of “Where the Light is” live album. Also patiently Waiting for John Mayers comment
I've enjoyed playing my Silver Sky SE (Rosewood Board) & I"m glad I bought it. But it doesn't sound at all like my Fender AmPro Strat which sounds clearer and has more highs. The Siilver Sky is an impressive build, I like the feel of the neck and fretboard. But, I'm not sure it's fair to compare the 2, the AmPro is more than twice the price of the Silver Sky SE.
Recently been revisiting Battle Studies; Edge of Desire has a sweet subtle progression, which I just learned was played on an SG. #Johnplaysmorethanstrats
Hey guys, your choice, this guitar or a 2011 fender American standard, staying in the $900 price range?
Oh man, an SE Fiore would be amazing…
Is the neck Satin?
I would like to the the solo of Another Brick in the wall, in this Guitar!
Very nice, I still hate the tuning pegs
Stainless steel frets?
Bradford looks like a giant playing that guitar
Sounds great! Gonna get one soon. Smart to get rid of the secular riffs though, careful with that!
