I think one of the most asked questions about the PRS Silver Sky SE was Why did they use Poplar for the body wood? I think recent events with the Fender American Vintage II series have made it clearer in my mind as to why they made this choice - and I think that now they're £599 in the UK, they could be worth a look?

I haven’t tried a Silver Sky SE yet, but I’m in love with my Tremonti SE Custom. I have a Charvel DK22 and Sterling JP150 yet the PRS is the one I reach for the majority of the time. My hope is they see sense and release an SE Fiore.
Depends on the usecase and your style imo. I have a 2x Fender american strats, a charvel DK24, and a PRS SS SE. I reach for the Charvel 90% of the time (its the newest) but it just can't do the crystal clean cleans like the others. My Silver Sky gets picked up for John Mayer-ish licks, and the Fender for anything SRV/Hendrix related.
@@markrebetzke7693 That’s an amazing collection of guitars you have there! My Charvel is also the newest on the wall. What an incredible range of guitars they’re producing right now. My PRS is in drop-C so the Charvel is for ‘proper’ practising. No doubt it’ll overtake it as my go-to axe in god time.
Thanks John, I own both a Fender Custom Shop Strat which is swamp ash and an original PRS Silver Sky. I love both guitars and tend to favour the PRS. I now have a Custom 22 PRS which is awesome. They are simply great guitars and I would happily recommend the SE for an introduction to PRS instruments.
I purchased an SE SS for a gigging guitar and it holds up and sounds great. I get more compliments on the Evergreen finish then I do the Tungsten USA model. Great playing as always.
I adore my core Silver Sky (got the Midnight Rose model with maple fretboard). When the SE range was announced, I thought I’d love to get my hands on one, strip it down, and refinish it (perhaps in a sunburst). But the price was too high for that kind of project initially. I haven’t seen them drop in price here (Canada), but if they do, I may reconsider it.

When I compare the tones of the Silver Sky on the intro and the Fender Strat on the outro I definitely like the Strat tones. It’s got more of that “hollow” Strat goodness to my ears.
It’s more than 3x the price. For the difference you can buy a lot of pickups. 😮
Bought one a month ago. I have an American Proffesional that’s my favorite. G&L Asat deluxe, PRS Custom 24 SE and a Gibson Les Paul classic plus. I’m really enjoying the Silver Sky SE. It’s just fun to play. I have the dragonfruit. Haven’t had any issue with the strings.
The neck position sounds lovely when driven. Nice playing.

i just played a silver sky se this week and it felt really nice. chunky neck. i played around 20 guitars that day at guitar center and the silver sky se felt the best out of everything i tried.
I bought that exact guitar a month ago. Still waiting for it to ship but this video got my hyped. Hope all is well mah dood.

I adore my stone blue SE silversky. I got very lucky with a beautiful flamed maple neck. The tuning stability is unparalleled in this price range.
Tuning stability has exactly zero to do with price.

@@benlemcke2863 Tuners either work or are broken. Instability comes from the nut or bridge(usually the nut)

I've built a handful of guitars with poplar. Easy to work with. And sounds good to me.
I got a Schecter Nick Johnston Traditional, a PRS Silver Sky SE, a 79 Fake Strat MIJ (quatersawn body) with a new neck and Monty's PUs...and a 22 year old Squier SE that's 'custom shopped' and like every part is exchanged. For unplugged dynamics and creativity the two last instruments mentioned are amazing. Can't get this feeling with these new Indonesian made guitars! Don't know why!!! For me the most important thing is getting inspired by a guitar...unplugged...on the couch - and this could be any guitar! Favourite live guitar is the PRS SS SE though.
I know what you mean about unplugged guitars being inspirational. There's something about the "actual" tone of the instrument that I find special.
Poplar isa good wood for guitar ,i have one myselp ,Its lite Paul R Smith Gets alot of his wood accross the hill from where I live Currley maple ,But these hills are full of poplar 3to4 ft. wide and reach to the sky Millions of them Its in VA probably gets a fair deal on them ,I played a little music with his wood suplyer back in the 80s.

Poplar has been used in Fender guitars for decades and decades. Alder and Poplar are pretty much interchangeable.
I had one. Liked it at first. Felt cheap compared to my all USA Fender parts strat. Even my Mexican strat felt more solid. Something about it didn’t feel right so I sold it for what I paid for it.
As I hear and feel it - The PRS has a noticeably cleaner, richer sound. Every time I listen to a comparison of a Strat and a PRS - SS/SE, I hear it. And honestly, I'm not certain what creates that marginal but important difference. But it's there every time.
I was on the fence about the SE Silver Sky at the old price. I liked it but the competition seemed to be offering more for less money in the same market area. However when Andertons and Peach dropped the price on two colours to £599 I took the plunge. It was impossible for me to resist at that price.
Had 3-4 non American strats and the SE Silver Sky feels significantly better than all of them. Nicer fretboard / fretwork, more finished overall. Feels like when I got my American Strat back in the day. I also like how the neck gets thicker as you go to the higher frets-feels better in my hands
Love a light guitar like everyone else
As a wood pop is native to that part of Asia. It is very fast growing and is popular in furniture, even here is Australia. So it was local, plentiful and light. Seems like a no brainer when it comes to cost benefits. I plus purchased it for the neck. I love how it feels and I think it will wear amazingly.
I think the poplar that is used is actually from the USA called tulip poplar.
A Dragonfruit SE Silver Sky showed up on my local Guitar Center's used wall and I ain't usually a Strat guy but DAMN do I pick up that thing up every time I'm over there and I'll be sad when it's gone lol
always love the solo intros..really tasteful.. I'd love to learn this tab lol. on a side note.. i like the tone on the k-line more.. the Silver Sky sounds kind of dull.
Sounding great JNC! The SE has a very unique tone. Very articulate but warm at the same time.
Having played both the core and SE (Own the SE). I very much prefer the neck on the SE. I'm sure the quality is better on the core but certainly not worth 3 times the price for the core.
I like everything about the Silver Sky, I like the SE better than the core American with the satin neck feel and I don't like locking tuners, since I like winding the strings if changing them, but I do like the core pick ups & alder body woods better. I may like certain core finish colours but I'm totally happy with the SE Moon White finish or Stone Blue.
I don’t have any experience with the SE version of the Silver Sky. I have the Core Silver Sky and can tell you that it’s one of the most inspiring guitars I’ve ever played.
SE sounds pretty good. I liked my core but sold it when I got my k-line. I will admit Im kind of curious now the spec has been updated in some meaningful ways in trying the satin finished one.

Poplar gets a bad rap but I liken it to basswood and it end up IMO with a nice throaty kind of midrange sound and the plus is how light it is.
Interesting about woods/weight. My mid-70s Strat weighs about 9.5 to 10 pounds! (My bathroom scale goes in half-pound increments and may not be very accurate/precise). It's like having a ship's anchor, or maybe a Les Paul, around your neck for years and years...
Here's some numbers I found during some research into densities and weights for guitar woods, lighter stuff generally dents and crushes versus heavy stuff thats strong and heavy. For me I came to see Alder to probably be a reasonable mix of weight and strength, with roasted probably being where I'm heading.

I never played a Silver Sky but I've got a black '95 Mexican Strat, that is also made of poplar. It was my first guitar. After all this years I bought a few more guitars (as we all do 😅) and three years ago I refinished the old lady with a nitro daphne blue, just for fun, because I didn't touch her for about 20 years because the frets were worn down and I was use to 22 frets now but I couldn't part because she was my first love and I wanted to hang her on the wall and I always wanted a daphne Strat so I thought if I mess it up it's not that bad.
After the refinishing was done she looked so stunning, so I thought the rusty hardware should be replaced and so I bought a new trem (got an excellent deal on a Callaham).
Just for fun I tried if the neck from my Am Std Strat would fit and it surprisingly did. After I strung her up and played the first notes I was blown away how good she sounds. So I needed a neck...
So I went to my guitar tech, who also builds guitars and he made me a special offer for a flamed maple neck.
Now the maple lady is my favorite guitar although she's by far the cheapest I got.
All I wanna say is. Polar is as good as other woods. 😂

S/H - b-stock silver sky Core maybe around the 2100 mark or fender Vintage 2 now that's a tuff one . i played the silver sky Paul brought to guitar guitar when they first announced it i found the neck really comfortable im not totally into all of it aesthetically tho.
Reports are that the V2s are hot garbage because of QC issues.
I have a poplar bodied guitar and it’s bloody heavy. Close to 9.5 lbs. I don’t mind the weight though. My 2000 swamp ash Stratocaster weighs in at 9.1 lbs.
I played a couple of SE silver skies a month ago and were £899
One of them had a great feeling neck but I didn’t like the colour. The other was a better colour but neck didn’t feel right to me.
For £599 that is a great price, however If I had a choice I would want to try a couple in store and find the one 👍
same here , I like dragon fruit but I don't like the neck feel but the another one in stone blue that i dont like color is perfect in hand .
@@andrewlok2598 that why if I am desperate in need of a new guitar like a silver sky SE or another I would go try them out. Unless buying used online then won’t loose much money if need to sell it on.
I love the pickups in my two SE Silver Skys (one rosewood fretboard neck and other all maple) ,,,, BUT the finish of the neck has a very cheap unfinished
feeling on the back of the neck (also the fretboard on the maple one is not finished off with any sort of gloss or satin gloss,,, its nowhere as nice feeling as any of my other Fender strats, Squires/Mexician/USA strats . In Australia, generally the SE' S/S is about the same price as a Fender Player so Id recommend go for the Fender for sure.
Woods like poplar and basswood are lightweight and resonant, and yes, in the supplies market are cheaper, which has given it a reputation as a "cheap" wood, which is unfortunate. Steve Morse has been using poplar exclusively on his signature guitar since 1987, and NO ONE would argue its an inferior instrument or tone wood. It is very much high end, and it's design is inspired from a heavily modified tele. Basswood (in combination with a maple cap) being the preference of many guitarists like EVH and Guthrie Govan. Eric Johnson insists on his new strats be made from sassafras, which is also inexpensive. The price of raw materials isn't dictated by demands of electric guitars alone, especially tone woods that share a market in carpentry and other arts, like mahogany, rosewood, ebony or maple. Just use your ears people. If it sounds good, it's good.
Have you played a PRS CE24 (the one with the bolt on neck) . I'd be very curious of your thoughts in it.
Anyway I love the PRS body for the silver sky. Haven't played one yet, and haven't played a strat in years. Need to add one to the wall. On the fence. Idk if the silver sky (se) is different sounding enough to justify vs my CE24. But traditional strats get a bit thin sometimes tone wise? So maybe the prs isn't a bad compromise for somebody like me that isn't a die hard strat guy.

Finally found a Moon White one in a store. The head stock colour looks close. The body cutaway under the frets near the body is nice. Love the ergonomics and workmanship.

I am lucky enough to own a Silver Sky SE and tin my opinion, to me this is by far the best strat style guitar you can buy under 1200 usd. The fret work on mine is better than many of the usa strats I tried at GC. So for you in the EU this sounds like a killer deal! I think most will be pleasantly surprised.
Well, I am PRS SE fanboy: I have "old" Korean factory PRS SE245 and SE P20. I love both of them and only reason I haven't bought SE Silver Sky to fix my single coil itch is that I'd want to have some long term experience with maple fingerboard.. With my "started guitar just before covid"-level of experience it doesn't make any sense to drop too much money on instrument and SE series so far has been extremely lovable toys. Much more lovable than my gio RG from teen years which almost made me quit guitar again x)
Those Korean guitars factory, World Music, makes FAR better guitars than the new PRS SE's. I sold my PRS CE, and kept my SE single cut, to this day. The best SE's came from Korea, period. The SE Silver Sky sounds and plays NOTHING like the American Silver Sky. I mean, not even close.
@@kennethc2466 I don't think it makes sense to compare Silver Sky to SE Silver Sky: price difference alone is going to cause mental gymnastics to make them sound different, different fretboard radiuses, different woods, more time on wood selection, more time on fit & finish, etc.
Expecting instrument that costs 1/3 or 1/4 of "proper one" to be same is going to always disappoint. So "is it same" is wrong question. Correct question would be "it is own instrument, is it good?" and to that my experiences with SE models, from Korea and China, has been: yes.

I never quite understood the tone-wood discussion, but I definitely get the weight. Was there any other reason for the wood choice being of such concern? I'm biased of course, but the AZES also has a polar body and I don't remember that being much of a talking point about it at the time.
I agree that tone wood doesn’t matter. Outside of weight, I think the feeling of the wood on the neck also changes experience (that might more down to finish though). One thing I’ve always wondered is if sustain-wood is a thing.
Not much to understand, “tonewood” in electric guitars is a farce perpetuated by guitar manufacturers to charge even more for rare wood species.
Jim Lill has a series of excellent videos concerning where tone of comes from in electric guitars as well as amps and cabinets.

@@Drtydeeds All Jim Lill did was prove he -- and a ton of other people -- can't hear the difference. I thought it was kind of obvious, personally, but since it seems like the majority of people can't, I guess it doesn't matter when it comes to an audience.
The answer to your question really simple: "because it does not affect the tone of the guitar". There are actual realistic comparison of using different wood for the guitar showing clearly that the wood makes nearly no difference at all (except the neck maybe to a small degree). So the expensive wood used for electric guitars are mainly a way to justify the high cost of the guitars and to satisfy certain visual expectations. Just compare the SE and the US version - there is NO noticable sound difference. It is appearance and some better materials being used. If that is worth an extra $1500 is up to your judgement.
The pickups are actually different between the SE and the US version - so that wouldn't actually be comparing the wood. So the answer is actually - because they could use higher quality Poplar that they can get in higher quantities than lower quality Alder
@@johnnathancordy I would love for someone to test a core model vs an SE with core pickups. Set the pickup height the same, and same strings. I would be willing to bet there would be very little difference. Wood rarely matters outside of structural stability.
I have a ss se and I hate it. Fret buzz all over the neck. Pro set up, tweaked it at home and it's better but still not what I'd consider close to good. Pickups are kinda bland sounding to me as well. Looks beautiful though. It'll probably spend most of its life hanging on the wall

hey Jonathan since we're both big ej enthusiasts I would love it if you would consider maybe doing a video on Eric's Virginia strat and the whole sassafras wood debate that's been a controversial topic ever since his Virginia hit the scene. Ive actually been looking into doing my own personal strat build but it's been difficult finding a sassafras strat body for sale online. im basically disassembling my original and first strap I got when I was 10 years old and I want to keep the neck and all the components I just want to change out the body because the one I have now is just a cheap ply body. Anyways just wanted to put that out there my friend. keep on rockin

Sounds pretty good to me, but if you are after the real strat sound, I reckon you can´t beat a real strat :-)
Another reason for using poplar is that ash will be getting harder to get due to ash die back.
Emerald Ash Borer (an alien invasive species in the US) is going through the Ash trees in the US like crazy.

Smart move by PRS. Novo is selling 7lb guitars with bodies made of pine and can’t keep up with demand. Fender and Gibson should take note. It’s so odd to me that weight is rarely listed in guitar specs in the era of online guitar shopping - I would never buy a guitar without knowing the weight.
I just have to ask though how many guitars a year they make because there is also a scale kind of difference that is part of that story.
I heard there was a long waiting list for novo guitars.
However I saw on Rhett channel once that his no1 novo (pink p90) is not particularly light.

Let's set the record straight. Leo Fender chose the 'tonewoods" he did for his first guitars because 1) they were less expensive, 2) they were easy to work with using routers and hand tools, and 3) they were relatively light-weight. Maple necks were more rigid than alternatives and less expensive. There were no "magic" qualities.
There are several "tonewood" comparisons out there and they demonstrate pretty conclusively that 99% of people - that probably includes you - can't *hear* the difference in a randomized, blindfold test.
I watched a video where a guy made a guitar out of colored pencils and it sounded good!
A two point trem has to be cheaper to make and setup at this price companies are trying to save wherever they can
It’s funny, I’ve always thought of heavier guitars as being more desirable. Things like Les Pauls which often weigh a ton seem to be more highly regarded in the tone department than Strats.
Yeah, people always believe what they've been told, totally. Even when their ears tell them differently, people are strange.
LPs are mahogany and maple which are denser and also 1/4 inch thicker than a Strat.
Not sure where you’ve found these for £600 in Uk… all major retailers are still selling at £749 - £799 maybe it’s an early Black Friday deal?
I got an evergreen from Andertons for £599, didn’t last long and was the only colour at that price. So far very impressed and I have some high end strats
He ended the video with the Fender Strat, because to my eyes it looks better, to my ears sounded better and it probably felt better.

So what do you not like about the two point trem? After I floated the trem and pulled a spring and distributed them evenly it's been a stable, expressive system. £599 equals what - about $700 ?
Don’t know where you are seeing the, at 600 man, also for a British guy talking in pounds is confusing to me lol. The green I see is 699, I love the shape but can see why the green and yellow are cheaper now, they should have done a white, but for 600 (which I can’t find) I’d have the blue one, they came out way over priced imo

Why Did they Use Poplar? uh.. to save $
I have a theory why they use higher output pickups, poplar lacks of mid range amd by adding a hotter pickup counteract as a fuller sound. Which alder has a very rich full sound.
Maybe the YT video "Tested: Where Does The Tone Come From In An Electric Guitar" by Jim Lill is the answer.
That vid is garbage. Jim doesn't know enough about the basics of electric guitars to even try to explain that.
And it's quickly become apparent how much of the guitar community is clueless about them, as well. Anybody who thinks his vids are worth watching doesn't know enough to even realize how full of crap, he is.

I believe in the iceberg statistics. Less than 1/10 above the surface are able to, more than 9/10 below the surface are not.
But.
I am part of the 9/10 and we as listeners in a concert are not really able to evaluate whether the guitar tone is good or not.
Even in our familiar bedroom environment we lack in having sufficient different gear.
Okay, about once a quartal two friends of mine and me meet together and bring with us all our gear.
More than ten guitars, Tellys, Strats, Gibsons, tube and solid state amps, Helix and Fractal modelers, FRFRs and a LD Systems Maui PA and a mixer.
And of course dozen of pedals.
In a complete permutation we criss cross setup different guitar ... amp scenarios.
One of us is a 70 years old retired professional guitar player and it turns out
whatever setup he is using it sounds far better we two others are able to.
The finger tips... and experiences.

So, why the community loves the Jim Lill vids is caused by lacking enough gear (not to mention GAS)
and as crowd in front of a stage the noise (we make) covers the guitar tone from the stage.
If I'm not mistaking, Eric Johnson's 'main' Strat that he used to always use during the 80s and 90s, is made out of poplar? Seems like I saw him in an interview say poplar is the secret to the sound of that old Strat.

Better looking guitar birds and rosewood
there are good and bad pieces of any species of wood. I've had some dead pieces of almost every variety as well as some with no resonance. I had a slew of music man silhouettes made of poplar and I couldn't gel with them. It's a shame since it is still the most ergonomic guitar for me. it's up to the customer to have discerning taste and please make sure you try before you buy. I've finally learned that lesson.

I can't stand the headstock. That's a deal-breaker for me. They're no doubt terrific guitars, but I wouldn't buy one on the aesthetics.
Because tone wood is nonsense. All that matters is weight and structural stability. Anything else is basically con artistry

Is this an old video or are you hoping the 3rd times a charm? Poplar is a great wood to work with. Those pickups are still farting out on the low end. I've heard you play enough over the years to know it's not you. Maybe lower them a turn on the low end side. Love me some PRS but still won't be buying that plastic looking thing.
So, why is it that you have this thing with constantly trying to turn the volume up when it's already all the way up? You aren't picking anywhere close to it so, there's no reason to keep grabbing it.
If you kept hitting it then I could understand always grabbing it. But you don't get anywhere close to it. So.... What's the deal? Why are you always grabbing the volume knob like ita some sort of tick?

This is just personal taste, but for me the Silver Sky takes something that is esthetically perfect and ruins it.
its not the poplar thats the problem. poplar is fine as a body for guitars. its those hideous bird inlays. i hate birds. why would i want to stare at them when playing. yuck. PRS make me want to vomit for that reason. i'll never buy a PRS.

PRS uses poplar? I always thought they were solid plastic....huh. They sure look and sound like shit.
I am surprised to hear so often (in a review) : "I Think that..." It is full of "cliché's", we have the feeling that you are talking about the guitar to "satisfy" poor players too dumb to pay 5000$ on a guitar that will be played in a basement... alone. Next time, instead of talking so much, do a blind test of the guitars. You will be suprised how much lots of money is not that differeny of "smart money".

PRS got sued for the single-cut by Gibson, and I guess he's looking to get sued by Fender for this abomination, too. no thanks; i'll still with a strat.

Ah, yeah. I stand corrected but a strat body with a PRS headstock is still ugly to me. I thought the Fender reissue looks and sounds better,too.
@@lifeisShort66 I like the looks of the Silver Sky, but I didn't grow up with strats (first guitar was a cheap strat knock off) so I have no attachment to the original.
As far as tone yeah that's kinda a toss up for me. Someday I'll add a strat type guitar to the collection. I'd be interested to play SS SE and see how I feel about it in person. You are right that the Fender sounded more uh.... Fendery.
The SE doesn't have the full strat tone, but it is in the ballpark. This leaves me slightly unsure. I already have a few guitars. A PRS SE CU24, a LTD EC100p with actives, an 84 Nightswan, and a new PRS CE 24 semi-hollow (My overall fav) as well as a few others. If I get a Strat part of me wants one to sound like we all know a classic strat to sound. My CE24 does a pretty good snappy single coil tone already so I don't really care to just buy any old guitar for that tone. That said I see the value to the SS SE. It gets you a strat style guitar, a strat-ish tone, but also a slightly different tone. That tone may be a bit more middle ground and in some ways more versatile for a person with only one guitar.
Another thing to think about is we compare everything to a LP or Strat. The large complaint I hear is "PRS doesn't sound like a LP or a Strat". Well why should it? Why can't a PRS just sound like a PRS. My CE gives me a tone that none of my other guitars can. Doesn't quite sound like my Epiphone with classic Burst Buckers in it. Doesn't sound like a strat, heck it doesn't even sound like a SE CU24 despite having pickups that are supposed to be voiced the same. It is its own thing and that's cool.
I'm cool if somebody doesn't like the SS SE tone, that's all preference. I really liked the reissue he played at the end too. Sounded great. Exactly likea strat should. That said Maybe if we didn't compare the SE to strat, but considered it to be it's own unique thing maybe it would be more well liked. 🤔 Idk. I'm leaning more towards it being its own thing and having a tone different from anything else, and the video proved it could still sound great ! Not the same as the strat at the end, and compared yes it falls short because it isn't a fender strat. On its own though it is unique, and could give a cool sound to somebody's music. 🤷♂️ idk. Just thinking out loud.
@@shawnmcginnis2508 Yes, that's an interesting statement about PRS having it's own thing and I completely agree. I have a CE 24, as well. It's rediculously well made. I like that the scale length is not quite LP and not quit strat and, yes, it doesn't quite sound like either even with coil-tapped humbuckers. It kind of does a bit of everything right. That being said, that's why it seems so odd that such an innovative and original company would slap his headstock on a strat body (?). I guess I wouldn't be surprised to see the PRS flying-V or offset-SG from PRS in the future, as well....ha.ha. Of course, I'm kidding. I don't want to miss Cordy's point, though. For the price and quality, you can't beat the import SilverSky, I'm sure. However, even through my laptop I just love that strat he's playing. I can hear that Fender single coil top-end snap, the body-color is perfect, and I even like the tint on the maple, as well. The price on the strat, though...yikes. oh well.
Like their guitars or not, you can’t really argue personal preferences in any meaningful way. What is a fair bit more objective, is customer service. In my experience- at least here in the US-PRS’s customer service has been fantastic. Even when “issues” have been the result of my own stupidity. Great customer service speaks loads about the culture of a company. I can’t speak for the same, outside of the US, however. That said, my experience with their customer service has made me give them first consideration on a number of purchases.
Oh, and give the Fiore a try. Just got one and I think it’s absolutely fantastic

Did you not get the official memo John Nathan Cordial ? When the "Maryland Masterminds" got together to plot the making of the greatest guitar in the universe, they told the CEO of Cortek , Eri Cahyadi, who is also the mayor of Surabaya, to use the most popular wood he could find. They told him this through a simple Skype call, using the power of the internet. Here is where things get a bit fuzzy.... after the word "popular" was said, the internet service providers had transmission issues on both Marylands and Surabaya ends that day so neither party could adequately hear the other, but just before the call cut out, a senior PRS executive or maybe JM himself was said to be heard screaming "just do it or you will be fired from being CEO of Cortek and mayor of Surabaya!". Eri heard none of these details, because being Indonesian, English was his second language, and the quality of the skype call had been 3 out of 5 stars at best during the whole call. The only thing he gleaned from this confusing call was "most poplar wood". Being the smart and conscientious man he is, he realised that poplar was a wood that was easy to come by in both Asia and North America, so production of the SS SE began immediatley,resulting in a guitar that you yourself now love due to it being 200 pounds cheaper now(you can buy more cordial with your saving!)You be my fact checker Mr Cordial. I am sure you will confirm my own findings on why poplar was used
maybe PRS should use poplar on their other guitars. I had a Johnny Hiland Signature from 2006. it could have been used as a boat anchor. Not playable while sitting, because it was too tailheavy. my first and last PRS.
why did they use poplar??? were they out of CDX plywood....
